MolBasserDear MolBasser,
I understand the importance of having the latest software for your HTC Incredible. At this time, we do not have any information on if or when the HTC Incredible will be receiving the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update. Please keep in touch with our social media at www.facebook.com/htc and www.twitter.com/htc. I do apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you for responding to my mail. I understand that you may be under contractual obligations to send a mail that says essentially nothing, but I cannot help but be disappointed by this response.
It is a very simple question that HTC obviously knows the answer to at this point. Either the phone will get the upgrade, or it won't.
I do not understand why HTC would treat their customers this way, as it makes them (me) far more reluctant to purchase another HTC product if I cannot get a simple answer to a simple question.
The answer is not the issue. If the answer is no, the Incredible will not get the update, that is fine. I can get on with my life. If the answer is yes, at some point it will get the update, that is fine, as I can stop further speculation and just wait for it.
At any rate, I know it is not the fault of the representative charged with the duty of sending out fluff form letter responses to serious consumer concerns. I only wish that you would relay to your superiors that this is a very poor way of doing business. Thank you for your time.

My response (fruitless, I know.....)

OK, here is the response I got to my letter to HTC today. Seems much more in tune with reality and not some sort of troll fake, meaning that it says nothing.... Guess we are at square one again!

So in other words...
We can't tell you anything but please boost our social media numbers by subscribing to all our stuff

It was interesting to read Molbassers Letter from HTC. I received the following response to my inquiry:
Dear xxx xxxxx,
I understand that you are inquiry about a Gingerbread Android 2.3 update for the HTC Incredible. I know the importance in having the most recent updates for your device.
Before releasing a ROM update we have to be sure that the software is going to work properly on your hardware and on your carrier
And to the posters saying that we don't have a right to demand an update....
1. Correct we bought a product. We got a product.
2. Product support buys a company loyalty.
3. Loyalty sells more product.
So, in conclusion, while HTC is not "obligated" to update the Dinc, they are goddamn business fools not to.
MolBasser
Dear MolBasser,
Thank you for your response.
I apologize that we do not have more information to provide you regarding an update to Gingerbread Android 2.3 for the HTC Incredible. I would be more than happy to pass your feedback along to the appropriate parties so that it can be heard.
Please keep watch on our website at: www.htc.com/us along with our Facebook and Twitter social pages for more information once it becomes available. I apologize once again for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

No offense, my friend. I have big respect for your posting in general but I completely disagree here.
HTC and Verizon are giving us a second update. They promised us nothing and people are again getting mad at them for taking their time. This is despite the fact our phone understandably NOT FIRST IN LINE.
Until HTC or Verizon come out and officially announce something, do NOT read into the form HTC emails nor the speculating articles written based on the reported emails.
Folks, be patient. Update will come. We are 5 months or so EOL and yet they have worked to update our phones.
You misunderstand my anger. I'm not angry about not getting the update. I'm angry at the way they distribute information.
If they don't want to update the phone, just freaking say so. How hard is that. The phone is already EOL. Can you buy one now in the verizon store?
My black helicopter opinion is that they had some issues, then decided to just bail on it and hope that everyone would buy a new phone.
Well, I have over a year on my contract, and I will just root and even have go from there if I have to. I would just like some honesty from my providers, most particularly with HTC. I expect Verizon to be bastards.
I will be looking extremely hard at other products for my wife's phone. Not because I'm pissed that I did/didn't get an update, is that I was so completely disrespected as a consumer that they could not be honest with me.

This part I totally agree, I still have a year left on my contract, actually a little less, but anyway, they just can't say a firm "yes" or "no". The phones been EOL since March, but HTC cant be honest as proven from my last few emails, and your email. Try sounding out "yes" and "no". How hard is it to say the damn word?
Hello this is Evan from Verizon Wireless NRB,
Everyone please rest assure that the update is on its way. I will be providing an official report on Friday after our meeting.
Thank you,
Evan
