Install the drivers with the phone unplugged.

If your phone will connect to your laptop and run something like Pdanet you should be OK on the drivers.

I have been trying to root my prevail, my question is are you suppose to download the drivers to a computer first because everytime i try to download the drivers directly to my phone from the site the download stops and says its not compatable for my device. Any help??

Yes u have to download them to a computer and even if u were able to download them to your phone how would you get them on the computer without the drivers being installed.

Cardreader would be one way of transferring the drivers from the phone to the computer

I boight my Prevail 3 dayss ago and have been nonstop trying to find a way to root it. I had an optimus m prior to this and thanks to warranties the most recent one I had was running the 2.2.1 and I couldn't find how to root it either, ao I thought I was doomed when I got 2.2.2. But I did what y'all said. The first few times, it didn't work, but then I put it in airplane mode and did it again and now I am rooted! You're geniuses, and when I recover my finances. After buying this damn phone, I'll buy you a beer! Keep up the awesome work!

i would also highly recommend getting shabbymod .9...its a great rom and really simple to install. i also like the royal android theme as well

Okay I have successfully rooted my prevail, so i think....I have superuser, I could download busybox. First off I want to say thanks for being soo informative and helpful to new comers as myself. But my question is i want to change my theme, exstend my storage/speed and all that good stuff, but before I change anything I wanted to know is there somefiles or apps Ineed to install prior to changing anything following rooting? Such as a backup or unroot, just in case the worst happens? also is their a suggestion for the busybox not installing or alternative??? thanks again

okay i got superuser but i cant download busy. I also tried to run the batch file again and it said killingmesoftly is missing. I tried to install titanium backup and it said it did not have permission. when i open superuser there are no apps are anything am i suppose to manully move them? Also some of things posted in earlier posts about uninstallable apps, some of those apps they named i am still unable to remove. Maybe i didnt fully root it??? and should i have backup files and before or after rooting?? And after rooting what do i do with the ROM(software).

yes that will delete everything, however there are 2 very good things about android. your contacts are synced to gmail and your apps are too.
after sign in to market hit menu and a popup comes up that says my apps. go there and you can download all your apps at once.

As to your phones problem, hmm not sure unless you didnt root it as you had thought. You can try running the root again, by the way I recall you said you tried downloading busybox, that is unnecessary, it is part of the root script.
