okay thank you. i dont think i have amon ra? but i do have the revolutionary recovery screen so what do i do if i dont have amon ra and is it okay if i i jut backed up?ok that is your hboot. your recovery is what you use to flash roms and make nandroid backups. so go to recovery: power off then press and hold power+vol down. that will take you to hboot. select recovery. it should tell you what you have.
anyways here is how you will do a nandroid backup:
1.go to recovery
2.select backup and restore
3.select backup
4.if you have amon ra make sure to select wimax. always have one nandroid backup with wimax saved on your computer.
5.reboot when done.

i just did that thank you. and when i do a flash sine i have to wipe everything, i use titanium backup so i can restore everything right?ok if you didn;t switch recoveries the you have clockwork mod and the steps will be the same. however i would use the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html and go to the switching recoveries section and switch to amon ra2.3. it is a much better recovery in my opinion.

i have not yet flashed a rom though so what do i do to keep my contacts, messages, pictures, etc?titanium backup only should be used to backup your apps and data. do not use it to restore system data as it will have some bits and pieces of your previous rom and will create problems with your current rom.
