Root [ROM] Mik3D - RC1- [10/31/2011]

I'm kinda new to rooting. I've been looking for a new rom to try and everyone seems to like Mik3D. I tried sprint lovers but that resembled that normal rom that come with the phone
I'm using a 2.3.3 evo 4g. Can I use this with my phone. Does the 3d mean that it's meant for the 3d evo only?

Do I need anything else to flash this rom?

as long as your evo is rooted you are good to go. the 3d part in the name just means that this is a port from the evo3d to work on the evo. just make a nandroid backup and try it out. you can use the directions in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html. it has a section on flashing a rom. and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

You need to nandroid back. I'm sorry, that's the only way I know of how to remove the theme.
Wait, I might be able to remove the stock res folder and create a stock theme update.zip to being you full circle. If you can wait, I'll post up one of those tonight.
Once again this battery mod worked perfect on MikG. Sense 3.0 strikes again!

Ok cool.ill deal with it until then. I dont want to have to flash my ROM right now..too much stuff to restore and no time to do it.

Im not flashing a ROM until the stable release of 3D is out. it's a process for me to get everything set back up how I want it.

another way to do it is to wipe only dalvik cache and cache and then flash your rom. you will not loose any data or settings because you are not wiping data. it will replace anything you added to the rom like mods and such. but data will be saved.

See, thats why they made you a guide. :p I didn't think of that option.

Ok, as requested. I made another flashable theme that will put everything back to stock Mik3DBeta1

I've got a couple pokers in the fire over at xda to see if I can get learned on how to mod the battery script to show 1% increments. I'll finger it out one of these days.

The Mik3D-B1 ROM works great for me! Using GoldenMonkey 1.1 kernel and V6 supercharger script. Great battery life and no lag. Everything is snappy. No issues at all.

ocn - what Setcpu settings have you been using?

I'm just curious. what are goldenmonkey and V6 supercharger script and how do you work with scripts? Do you flash them like roms? I would like to find a nice battery saving kernal.

Also, where can I download Mik3D-B1 ROM

I also am curious. I downloaded the latest GM 1.1 and out it on the root of my card. I ran it from recovery, but now my phone wont boot out of the hboot/fastboot/recovery white screen. Do I need to pull the battery?

GoldenMonkey is a GB kernel: [Kernel]Golden Monkey 1.1 (31-July-2011) - xda-developers

The V6 script changes memory priorities and allocation making most phones run faster: [Script][Update 9 Beta] The V6 SuperCharger! The ONLY Android MEMORY FIXER! - xda-developers

Alright! Finally got this rom. Couple of questions/comments.
1. When flashing the rom, did anyone else's progress bar not complete? Mine stopped at roughly 1/3 both times. Amon ra.

2. Anyone know how to unsync my google account with my apps. Not a big fan of automatically downloading files. I stupidly checked it at the start. (This has been the only source of FCs for me thus far. Very solid.)

Getting GoldenMonkey (20 minutes left), then I'll get SetCPU going. Already supercharged it. The only thing is, I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be. I guess I built the rom up in my head. Maybe I'm just un-aware of all the new Sense 3 features...

But come on! Still callin' it a beta eh? I'm sure the final will be epic stability.

And after flashing it I still had 100+MB free. Not bad, I shouldn't need to partition anything (which is good because I cant).

Okay, that's enough for now. Props to the dev.

Does Settings, Accounts and Sync, do what you want?

If not, what about the Setup app in drawer?

It can be found at themikmik.com under the forum section. Scroll down to the evo 4g phone and select the developer forum. Go to Mik's Roms and then the Beta section. I will try to link it here, and I hope not to get any negative reaction for doing so.

Hmmm.. I'm not seeing it yet. I guess it's no big deal because it's already synced everything. I'll just make sure to catch it next time. Unless syncing apps is considered "Other services", then I haven't yet found it. I wanna say the initial setup gave a specific prompt for it. Maybe not. Memory is failing me right now.

Is mine the same as yours? It is the 6th one down in settings for me.

I can get to accounts/sync, but I'm not seeing anything about the apps syncing to the google account (auto syncing apps). I see Background data, auto-sync (for contacts/calendars I suppose?) and then in my gmail account I have contacts, calendar and gmail. ..?

Is that what you have? ... or meant?

How should GM be installed? I tried from recovery and selecting the ZIP file on the root of the card. I could not get the phone to reboot without looping back into the white revolutionary screen. And I did wipe Cache and Dalvik. I also used superwipe before flashing the kernel. Did I miss a step?

I think you are talking about automatically downloading updates from the market? If so, you need to open the market and then MENU -> MY APPS. Then you can open then settings and info for each app by selecting the app and then turning auto update on or off for the app. It sucks but you have to do this for each individual app.

Maybe I don't understand what you are trying to do, that would be a first, huh? :p

under auto sync i have google, news and weather...

good luck. i really like this rom!

Sounds like you did everything right. make sure fastboot is off in your phone settings. clear cache and dalvik. make sure you always nandroid before flashing anything! then just flash the GM 1.1 zip file. Might try again and see what happens. This is a Gingerbread only kernel.

Hmm.. It's no big deal, it's already finished.

Basically, when you first setup the rom, at one step it asks you if you want to set up your google account to automatically install apps for you (when you flash a new rom I assume). I checked yes, and was looking for an option to say 'no'. I'm sure it is a simple setting somewhere I'm overlooking.

Not quite auto updating, and not quite under accounts and sync. I'll keep looking.

(btw, finally got the download for goldenmonkey to finish...)

Ok, so now I have an annoying problem I am trying to resolve. After an unsucessful install of GM 1.1, I decided to restore and be happy with the stock kernel that is in MIK3D B1. However I am getting the error E: Can't read MISC: (No space left on device). I know that my SD card is only half full. The restore gets stuck on a screen I have never seen before with the word ANDROID accross the center of the screen.

UPDATE: I am now recovered with my backup, but I beleive the error messege will still be there when i go back into recovery

With some help from Nick1313, I was able to take Granite's Speedo Battery Mod and get it to 1% increments when not charging. Going to work on the charging pngs tonight but here is what Granite and I have so far.
