Root Guru's unite..I need your help

Mr. Ed

Extreme Android User
Sorry guys..I am still around, but am completely engulfed with this whole new release thing (Galaxy s2)

this is what I need, and I can't seem to find it...

I need an app, or method to determine what processor is in a phone...

exactly which processor..ie exynos, snapdragon or tegra2

any help you guys can provide will be super helpful!

you guys are my braintrust...thus why I posted here

give me what you have

you rock....

and no...you can't google the specs on a phone that has not released yet...and who's specs are being kept top secret.

I have had the rare chance to play with said phone...and need something to tell me what processor is in it

granite, again...thank you!

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. I didn't realize it was a covert op.

And here I was thinking it was going to be some linux command to pull it off, and it's an app. Ahh, good call granite.

And Mr. Ed, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curiosity has been piqued. ;)

Me, I would consider installing Text Edit, free in the Market, ditto for EStrongs File Explorer.

Go to /system tap on build.prop and choose to view with Text Edit.

The info there is what all of the info apps are parsing - and filtering.

You can sometimes pick up a surprise or two this way. No guarantees but a good start. ;)

for those wondering...I have been following the release of the Samsung Galaxy s 2 very closely...and have aquired some new friends that let's say "are close" to Samsung...

I got the opportunity to play with a test unit of the i777, the att variant of the SGS2 tonight.

there have been many questions concerning which processor is in it...
though I could not get an exact "this is it" I used a little of everything you guys gave me to determine it is the better exynos processor by it's clock speed, and various benchmark results.

thank you all again!!!

other than this little project I have been trying to help folks in the infuse forum...and have been spending MUCH more time on XDA

as always...if any of you need ANYTHING simply pm me!!!

I still pop in here every few days but you guys have it pretty much under control.

and yes...I still miss my evo ;) and DEFINITELY miss unlimited data

OK, in that case use the Monjori Shader Benchmark, free in the Market.

An Evo 3D will hit 29 to 30 fps stock, solid 30 when slightly overclocked.

You'll know it's an Exynos and how good by the margin you exceed that, with dev expectations published as 32 to 39 fps.

This is not your garden variety benchmark. :) ;)

They started studying 3d on mobile and drawing resources for it some months back - a bit before the tsunami. No doubt the pundits haven't given up on the idea.
