i will put a link at the bottom of the OP of the CWM thread

what bug are you talking about?

thats a pretty big drop in baterry time, are you setup exactly as you were on RC1

I wonder if other people are getting the same results, and if so, is the speed boost worth it

I would imagine that using link2sd will drain battery since it acceses the sdcard so much, are you using it now, and were you using it on RC1
After a couple more days of use, my battery life doesn't seem to be much different from RC1 after all. Yesterday was much improved over the first day, and today is going very well.

so i just installed this, also put the new simple green 3.1 on it and am running v6 9beta1 opt 9 & 17.....right off the bat i notice a huge increase in boot speed and responsiveness. awesome job soo far. tomorrows Friday so i am sure i wont feel like work (like i ever do) so i will be messing around on my phone all day so it should be a pretty good test of the battery life. will update later.

Update 8/27
battery life does seem to be improved. been a couple days now and i haven't had a single force close yet. boot is substantially faster. programs seem to be much more responsive as well. my ram meter in android booster shows me that my ram is filling up far less often than before. i used to get down to 10% after not too much use but now it seems that it starts higher 60%ish v 50%ish and only goes down into the 40's and maybe 30's after extensive use. loving it soo far. great job!

after some testing I think there is one unexplained thing.

after doing a davlik-cache wipe the free space gets to be less, for example I started with 109mb free, after moving all to /system, then I deleted all in the davlik-cache and hat 119mb free, rebooted to rebuild the needed cache and found I lost many mbs.
free space was at 42mb

Okay first thing first : EXT4 so far has been great...speed, stability, and battery life...all are improved, specifically speed!

Now first question: has anyone actually succeeded in sending a customized Shabbymod .9 to phone with EXT4 filesystem?
I've attempted it several times to no success: I keep getting stuck with force-close loop on boost mobile screen.

The only way I've gotten all my apps moved to ROM is to install and move from /data to /system...this works but it seems that there are still files left in /data from install and my available memory keeps shrinking little by little. This happened with rfs filesystem too but, i just re-flashed shabbymod with my apps in it every week or so and restored /data folder in CWM and all was gravy :)

Don't mean to be impatient just curious if i'm a lonewolf here or if others have had similar issues..i see that new optimus shares my space issues. Thanks again!

That depends on your definition I have mine completely customized but the odin gives the basic shabby to start and I used the cwm theme flash to preload a couple of apps but the system partition seems overly full so I could only do a few that way, then I went in and moved all the /system/apps I did not want to the /data/app, I did that because i figured out that if I use froyo to uninstall I get more free space.

I am seeing the same thing here .. i am at 52 free and was at 91 .. not sure where it all is going

Well the cache does fill back up as you use the phone. Its about like your web browser cache. The more you use it the more stuff gets put in there.

BTW i cleared up about 20MBs clearing the caches of the default browser and dolphin browser

Naw those caches are not the problem. I never used the browser enough in the limited testing I did, my browser puts cache files on the sd card as well.

Is there a way to make the themes work on this rom? I've tried adding the bloodgreen but cwm gives me a message about edify scripts.
Unfortunately, if I can't get the theme back, I have to go back to normal 0.9 :( even though this is faster

did you try the newest version 3.1? should work

how do you make Titanium Backup stop acting like a system app? I cant update it either.
yeah i didnt like tb in system apps either. using root explorer i went to system apps and deleted titanium backup. remember u need to use the button at the top labeled Mounut R/w to make files rewritable. and then back to read only after you delete by clickin the same button which should now read Mount R/O. i tried to reinstall titanium right after but kept getting an error. so i used root explorer again to go to /data/dalvik-cache/ mounted as re writable. now click menu ...theres an option for multi-select...and the click select all and delete. now reboot and you should be able to download and install titanium into data/apps now.

Am I understanding this right? This will make parts of the NAND flash formatted to EXT4?
If so, wouldn't a file system that's optimized for NAND flash, like JFFS2, be a better choice?

to be honest, I am not sure if it would be better or not, do you know of any phones that use it?

Not any phones, but we use JFFS2 for our embedded linux systems at the company I work for. We make one system that's ARM based and another that's PowerPC based. The later i recently made a hacked version that uses a USB stick formatted to EXT3 to store all its vital and non-vital configuration files

If this works good will you be adding an tutorial?

edit: You do it like you use odin to root your phone? but then just install the ext4cache.zip?

i can probably make a JFFS2 module, but I am wondering what type of compatabily issues we would run into

and Samsung phones dont use direct nand access, they use BML and STL

Block Management Layer and Sector Translation Layer
