Root v1.1 up for testing ***Umph Kernelv1 Now With Oddball***

Nope I got mine at 1516 max and 245 min but it does switch back to on demand whenever I change it to scary or smartass.

Okay I may put the file back and just comment out the revert code and see if it behaves then, perhaps there is another fallback that come into play on mine when that file is not there. Thanks for letting me know how yours is behaving, us oddballs have to stick together haha

Haha Indeed we do.

Yes I had loaded the stock on the card before I did anything. I got into recovery before the phone rebooted and was able to flash the stock so Im ok right now. I just wanted others to know that it might now be as stable as it may seem. I wasnt trying to flame or get at anybody by my comments.

hey something weird happened to my phone... (i got a new one so its not the same as the one i was testing with 2 days ago) i flashed the kernel and everything was going good, i got tired so i turned my phone off and plugged it in for the night. like and hour later i got up and went to power on my phone and it got stuck on the "M" logo. i fixed it with a nandroid backup.... do any of you guys think you know what happened?

I'd suggest maybe trying the oddball version, fixed booting issues on other phones it makes sense to me. Btw any news on the oddball versions settings resetting?

I redid mine today after getting into a boot loop pushing mine too far. When I got it back up it once again did the whole (lose the settings) thing again, but I reinstalled setcpu set the settings toggled set at boot off then back on and rebooted and so far so good. Not sure which part made it stick (seeing as it had the one file deleted the whole time), but something did the trick. Mine seems to be the most stable at 1.5 GHz Max 122 MHz min. Good enough for me

To those who deleted or added .bak to the iniq file make sure you reboot then put in your desired setup for setcpu then it should stick. I made same mistake earlier I didnt reboot my phone so it still keeps reverting back to ondemand and 245 mhz.

Don't flash the Andro-id, it's only for GSM phones. Just flash the kernel in recovery.

I already did I'm doing a backup of it then im gonna do a nandroid restore.
I got some info form and the dude said that not dont flash a 2.2 kernel on 2.3.

The umph Kernel is for 2.2 so after your nandroid restore just flash the kernel. Its not that difficult.

Everything seems to be working just great for me, I'm even completely stable at 1.9 w/ setcpu on performance mode. I'm assuming it could probably go even higher if the Max was higher.

Got a quadrant score of 2337 (2 much 1337 lol).

Edit: Just cleared out the background applications, re-ran it and got 2509 at 1.9

For those who are building these kernels - are you willing to share the procedure to pack up the zImage and associated .ko files into the boot.img file so it can be flashed?

I've managed to get a kernel to build that might fix the problems with CM7, but need to be able to get it on the device.

theres a big long way to do it but i do it ez mode and just use dsixda's kitchen and setup a working folder with a triumph rom, then split the boot.img and replace the zimage and repack it with the kitchen and wala its in the working folder

I think I got it - I pulled the entire SDK and managed to get the base Moto code to build. I'm trying to get the audio fixed on CM7 - presumed it was a missing driver, but that looks wrong at this point, as even with the stock kernel built and dropped in there it doesn't work.

Noodling....

ouch:( idk the most porting ive ever done is make an evo rom run on my shift :p im gunna keep my dumb obvious suggestion of go ask someone whos been successful at it to myself XD

whats the differnce between v1 and v1 oddball? what is oddball?
there were a few devices that couldnt boot v1, "oddball" devices, so v1 oddball is a version that will boot on those phones, so if v1 doesnt boot on ur phone try v1 oddball, both like 99.99% the same and the only difference is setting default clock speeds

That's actually incorrect it is a CDMA ROM it just happens to be one that uses a SIM (RUIM) and it works quite well, aside from not having 3g or 1x it's leaps and bounds better than our stock ROM... for the other question no this kernel will not work with Andro-Id I tried using Umph V1 as it worked very well on my stock ROM however with that ROM it will not boot.

I have not tried any of the other variations of this kernel with that ROM

That's weird I always thought that if it had a SIM, it was a GSM device. Well the ROM may work good, but no 3g? what good is a smartphone with no data. I'll stick to making my own stock ROM based ROM. I tend to stray away from ports as they usually have many issues.
