Two questions about TapFish

Obee, you need to do an update to get rid of the speed up button. I think they just reverted to the previous update because the only other thing I see changed is the little walllpaper button on the left - they went back to putting the sound button at the top instead of inside a settings button with the wallpaper.

Okay, your sharks seem to be alive again and I saw my tank with the lovely fish in it! Thank you! Now, she kind of looks like me emerging from an egg after a very hard hatching. It's sort of cute, but extremely strange. You sure this is the boxfish Piranha? Let me know so I make one.

Haha, cute?? Okay, maybe UGLY-cute, jk - yep it's a Box Piranha. That is weird about my sharks... When I checked right after I read your replies, they all were alive; none were dead.

I kind of like the Speed Up button for now, because it helps with the initial setting up of my "reference" tanks. I like to have those tanks all fully grow immediately, so if people want to know what something looks like right away, they can refer to the tank and from there decide on what to breed for their own tanks. I remember that was the one thing I disliked about breeding- waiting 3 days and only having an annoying half-smashed bred. So why waste your time? :D Also, I kind of like the settings button, it decluttered the top bar without having that sound option button at the top, and accidentally hitting the wallpaper icon was a pain. Hopefully not updating for now won't interfere with the servers or etc.

Oh, and if you need any easy numbers (or do you already have it from SQlite and Root Explorer?) for your tables, let me know! There's also this site that has a table of breeds prices all added up, so it takes the work out of having to do the math.

JAMMYLUKE - my player name is ObeeWan on TapFish, but I'm not on iPhone. I have an Android. (does that matter?)

Im on android too ill add you now and tapros thanks for the advice i like your breeders tanks where you have labeled them bucks and coins so i kinda nabbed that idea too.
Luke (jammyluke)

Tapros, im also saving my fishbucks for the yellow belly damsel to breed it with eagle ray. I heard it brings in around 100k per baby fishie

Wow obee your tanks are amazing it took me about 10mins to load it.

Does anybody know how to lower the amount of mbs used in tapfish mine is 54mb and its on my sd card but i now hace a warning low storage space on phone storage light and there is little morre i can delite, oh and my app chache is 0.0 (samsung galaxy mini

Look back a few pages, Luke. :p:p:p

Yes, eagle damsel is 143115 + 20% = 171738. I reserve one breeding tank just for that so I have one to sell every three days.

Obee,
Please direct me to the table of breed prices. It is a bit of a pain to go through all the trophies on my phone to enter the data and find out which ones I have.

I figured the formula for the number of hybrid combinations is

Number of breedables x (Number of breedables - 1) / 2

There are currently 36 breedables, so that makes it 630 combinations. That's a lot of different fish.

Math majors and accountants - let me know if my formula isn't correct!

Hmm, using SQlite and Root Explorer, I was able to find a directory named "breed" that had only 350 combinations - all had their sell prices, time till adulthood, and their parent x & y's. I reached it by going through /data/data/com.bayview.tapfish/databases, then storeddatabase.sqlite, then finally clicking on breed. Both apps cost money though, so I could try to copy some for you, but how do I screen shot on a phone? Also, this site may be of help: TapFish Guide: Coins

This one is what I think you may be looking for specifically:
TapFish Guide

How many pages exactaly because i am on this forum on my phone and its a pain to change page and zoom and stuff, thanks

I wish I could help you out, but it's spread across a few pages I think. Start around 11 and look for my posts, or just do a search of my posts and begin there. I had the same problem (no space on my phone for 70mbs of Tapfish) and with the help with knowledge of these great people, now can have other apps along with this monster!

Thanks, Obee. The tapfish guide only seems to list the starter breeds. I have gotten pretty far along in my spreadsheet so I'll probaby just continue. I'd like to share it once I have it filled in, but I'm not sure how. I could make a screenshot of the print preview, but for some reason the Excel print preview function isn't working right and not all the grid lines are shown, making it look very confusing. The actual printouts are fine.

I'm not rooted, by the way, so I guess I wouldn't be able to use Root Explorer. I feel pretty sure about my calculation of 630 combinations, so the 350 figure is probably out of date.

Sorry I couldn't help you out :(. I'll look more into the database and see what I can find. You should put a site together or something.

ok im on my computer now and i found the posts about link2sd so i downloaded that and it says that tap fish is taking up 67.21mb and it is on the sd card allready.

how can it still use my internal memory when its on my sd card?:eek::eek:

All breeds (iPhone) are on Tapfish 101. You can cross check them with yours. We have 64 breed-ables, that's 2016 hybrids. If you want to post your spreadsheet, use Google Docs to put it online

I've dropped a few more into the Uglies tank - which I've renamed Ugliest (to out-ugly Obee's Uglies :D). Raynold's Sailfin Grunt (although I don't think he's so ugly, but just looks like a weird little kid in a hoodie) and the box angler, who looks like he has chicken pox. A couple of the smash breeds, too, for Mindbenda. I'm working on the box piranha.

Haha! Your "Ugliest" tank definitely wins. I had trouble picking ugly fish... I kept finding something unique or quirky about them, in a cute way! It's funny, I thought the same about the Sailfin/Grunt - it looks like a punky rebellious teen of its offspring!

Any suggestions on how to organize my inventory tanks? They're the first couple tanks; the ones showcasing what you can buy and what they look like grown. It's hard to fit only 25 kinds in one tank. It's hard to figure out how to organize tanks with the breeds, also, because of the duplicates. Well not hard, just annoying because I'm so OCD.

I just sell ugly fish when they are adults :D

Although we all have different ideas of what constitutes "ugly," so some of my fish are merely "cute.". Others have nice personalities.

Well, unless I am keeping a tnak of one specific breed. Then I just keep my favorites.

Okay, let me try to explain Link2sd again. Be patient, because I do not have a teacher bone in me.

This game is a resource hog. The data for the game is enormous, and as far as I can tell, there is currently no way to move the data off the internal memory of your phone. Dependingon your phone, this can be a huge problem. On my phone, half the internal memory is a hidden partition with the carrier's bloatware and the system files. I can delete the bloat, but I can't use the space without redoing the phone and risking a brick. I am left with...um..I think 179mg (ymmv) to fill with apps and junk. I have a 16g sd card, but the way the phones are set up, this sd space is intended for music, pictures and videos--but I want it for apps.

There is the "move to sd" option, but what that does is move the parts of the app that are not required to start the app...which ain't a whole lot in most cases.

If you are rooted, you can use Link2sd. Link2sd is *not* like the "move2sd" option. You partition your sd card, and with Link2sd that partition *is now treated by the phone as part of the phone's internal memory.*

Link2sd will allow you to create links for 3 types of files: the apk file, the dex (dalvik cache) and the lib files. At first, there will only be the apk, so going back periodically will show more files that cna be linked and free more space.

When you are starting out with Link2sd, you want the files on the phone when you create the links, so if you have moved them to the sd card by another method, you will want to put them back first. If you have tons of apps, you will probably have to restart the phone a couple of times while you are doing the initial linkfest to clear everything out.

Now, after you have moved the app back to the phone and linked it with Link2sd, the phone is going to look back and say "Hey! here is something that can be moved to sd! Wanna move it?". Well, no, I don't--it is already there. It is just on the other partition, and the phone thinks that partition is a part of itself. All you would be doing is moving a part of the app from one partiton to the other, and while it probably won't hurt anything (I don't know) it definitley isn't going to *help* anything, so why even bother?

But, you say, if the data on my game is 60mg and it won't move off i ternal storage, why even bother? Because you are going to be linking so much from other apps that there will be plenty of room for Tapfish tanks! (And if anyone comes up with a way to link the data, PLEASE tell me!)

Iirc, initially the dex and lib files are small to nonexistent. I go through periodically and check, and sometimes find fairly large things I can still link. if files are linked, whe you scroll through Link2sd it will look like this:

Apk->15.18MB. Dex-> .376kb Lib: 2.07MB

See where the Lib files don't have the ">" before the size? That means it isn't linked, and you can click on "create link" and free up another 2m right there in under fifteen seconds. Worth checking. I usually get 15-20 just from housecleaning that way.

Hope that is clearer, and sorry I tend to be verbose.

ETA: JUST TO MAKE SURE, I AM CHECKING OUT WHAT I JUST POSTED. If it changes I will retract it. And frankly, I hope I have to.

I think it's really hard to organize the tanks because of the organic nature of the game. There's not a finite number of fish/categories/breeds, so you can't really plan ahead. The biggest problem is that you can't actually change the order of tanks, so if you want to change the the fish, background, and/or decorations you've already put into a tank you've already built, you have to put everything in inventory and start over.

How are you guys keeping track of whch fish you've bred? Are you keeping a list or going through the trophies? As I said, I'm working on the spreadsheet, which is expandabl in both directions for new breedables. It's pretty slow going, especially since I am including the sell price (not sure why), but once it's done it will be much easier for me to keep track.

I have lists.

I go through the trophy section for each fish and make a list, then cross off a fish when I put it in to breed.

Might be better if I crossed it off when it hatched, but I am old and set in my ways ;p

Quadrille pads are useful for this type of activity.

You know what I wish we had? An inventory of breedable and non-breedable and bred fish we currently own. I jave a hard time keeping track, and have wasted precious fishbucks thinking I don't own a breedable when I do.

Please share the spreadsheet when you get it done--that will be helpful!

Oh--I was going to tell you to buy the limited breedable cardinals inTF2 to make quick miney, as the bred fish sell for 170,000 coins even if they are unhappy. But when I looked the breedables were hideously expensive, even though they are both coin fish. But when you rack up coins, get them.

I know this may seem a bit cold, but in regards to stockpiling and making coins I try to make detailed guides with pictures of screenshots. At the same time I rarely repeat myself. At some point I'll compile those posts and write up a formal guide and add it to my sig as I did with the root guide. Everyone likes a math heavy post, right?

Thanks for the TF2 tips, Raynold. I'm not how much longer I'm going to be playing with that though because it really isn't very pleasant to play on my iPod Touch. The screen is too small, decorations are too big, and it's very slow. I guess it doesn't have enough memory. It takes several seconds to just switch between my two tanks. It's interesting to see the differences though. There are a lot more fishes, games, backgrounds, decorations, and play options on the TF2. But I see there is no way at all to get fishbucks other than paying for them.

I finally added a few new tanks. Gonna just get rid of all the neighbor tanks and put maybe a breed in them. I have five extra tanks left I think.

I might just jump in on this ugly breed Phenom.
