okay im getting rather frustrated, ive tried rooting the phone following the steps above i get the cid #get the gold card put it in the gcimg folder press 2 it reboots i dont have to go through setup then onto step 3 i for 1 dont understand the (type exit and enter at the # prompt) 2 once i go through step 3 my phone turns off and all of a sudden my phone stays black only with a picture of a phone with a red triangle and exclamation mark i dont know what im doing wrong. please help??

I had the same problem and I ended up going back and doing step 2 again and it worked after that. I don't know the answer otherwise.
 
I did the steps and also had the same issue with the triangle with exclimation point. I re-did the second step and then the 3rd again and still noting. rebooted phone. Please help.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who is experiencing this problem.

I can't seem to figure out how to get past that point.

Great guide, worked like a charm but one problem (so far the only problem) is that I cant seem to play youtube videos on my rooted inspire anymore, anyone else have trouble?
 
I too hit the red triangle lockup (even power button won't work, had to remove batteries) at the end of step three. I redid the entire procedure two more times and got the red triangle lockup three times.

My phone boots, but I don't know what state it's in now. It has been a week since several folks reported this, is there a solution to it yet?
 
It appears that I'm stuck at the RUU screen... unless this takes a long time to complete. Did I break something?

ok so i need help really bad i have tried to root my htc inspire when ever i get to step 3 it just goes to the red exclamation point over my phone symbol.
 
I installed ace-hack-kit-v12.3.zip and everything seems to be perfect until I tried to make a phone call. I can't hear anything!! :mad: Please help!!

Please open a new thread and not post issues on this one.

Please tell us what ROM/Radio you are using as well.

We'll need at least this much info to help. :)
 
It shows Android version 2.2 and baseband version 12.39a.60.19U_26.06.06.30_M. What should I do next? Now my phone is working but my Wi-Fi won't connect to the internet. If I turn it ON, I lost all my Internet. Please help!:(
 
FYI, you don't have to install HTC Sync completely to root the device. When you start the install process the software will download and install the drivers separately from the actual HTC Sync software. I never clicked continue and just cancelled out the install after I rooted my phone.

Link is working fine for me.

Last I heard, he is in the process of getting things moved over to new servers that can handle the load.

Keep trying if it goes down. It'll be back up soon.
