Bionic may NOT be ready for prime time

I picked up a New Bionic at noon (9-8-11) and so far it has locked up twice (once the battery had to be removed), dropped 2 calls, and restarted 2 times by itself. It also panicked when I tried to use Voice Commands. Also the tower reception is not quite as good as the DX2 which was a lot better than the X.
I'm keeping the DX2 close at hand. This Bionic needs to learn it's place real quick or it may be out of work and homeless.

Edit
The Bionic started shutting off at the slightest touch last night, and data had been shutting off randomly all day.
I did a HARD RESET as a desperation move and so far all is working okay dokey. A hard reset is not a pretty thought, but this phone is a sweet device. I should have remembered the advice of a wise forum member a long time ago .... Hard reset a new phone as soon as you can after purchase.

I've had to pull my battery a few times as well because of random lockups, think it may be launcherpro but this phone is by far the best thing on Verizon right now IMO. Coming from the og Droid I tried the Evo 3D first on sprint because I couldnt wait for a 1gb ram phone and liked it, but took it back because of the slow 3g in my area. This is easily the phone to have on vzw until htcs new one or the prime hits.

Hey guys a fix for this, if you have a microsd card, try not using it. It fixes many freeze problems, try it out and let me know.

If it fixes the issue, go ahead and back up the microsd card on the computer, format it on your phone, then put the stuff back on the microsd card. This worked for me.

I have been using it heavily all day and only one lock up when using skype, not battery pull phone just did a re boot. Its been running very smooth, I am impressed thus far

Exchange it.

Agree with Vihzel...

I have had it all day since 11am and have not had a SINGLE issue.

I haven't had any issues yet with my Bionic either. Every single smartphone in the history of smartphones has had their lemons and problems. Some smartphones just have more issues than others. Time and time again, I have seen people exchange their phone and the major issues that were plaguing their first one disappears (iPhone, BB, and Android).

Just got done playing with the phone for close to 4 hours straight and didn't have one lock up. Only issue, which is what most people had to do, is I had to do a battery pull when activating it for the first time, and then it activated no problem once I restarted it.

No problems with mine.

Well, one minor one, every time I look down the damn thing's back in my hand! Not sure if this issue will persist but I'm gonna keep it a few days and see if it gets any better! :D

On a more serious note, I did have a slight issue and was getting pissed because I could not get my notification LED to work. then I realized the upper corner of the two piece silicone/nylon case I bought covers it (great case but a serious design flaw on the case manufacturer's part).. A quick mod with the scissors and I'm back in business with my notifications.. all is right in the world again.

had to batt pull to activate and then I dropped 3g at one point during the day, rebooted and everything was fine. phone runs like a champ

A brand new phone shouldn't reboot or lock up...return that sucker. There's gonna be bad phones and it looks like you got one of them.

No luck up. And nothing outside what i have seen on any other android phone. I am happy with it. Data was at 200mb with my OG Droid and is not at 2.5gigs. I have not even had time to really play with the phone 4G is AWESOME!

Im going to swap mine out. Last night had the random reboot during a call. Today had a freeze up trying to access bookmarks in the browser and had to pull the battery, lost 3g until I restarted my phone, and multiple times it has put itself into standby when I am positive I havent touched that top button, nor have I left it sitting idle for 30 seconds to let the screen time out.

But still love this phone!

Did you try using the phone with motoblur for a bit? From what I've seen and heard it's just as fast a LPP now.
