Help Ok Does flashing these udates VOID warranty ?

You buy a USB jig from ebay, wait until the postman delivers it to you, take it out of the packaging, when the power is off you stick it in the USB port of the handset. Counter reset back to zero and download mode entered. just reboot. job done.
:)

if you have a rooted device with the yellow triangle, this will also get rid of this too.

:D

and u think samsung is gonna be fooled by something u got from ebay?

I can't recall ever mentioning this actually

The main reasons for me to get one is that using one is much easier to get rid of the yellow triangle and also its something to try and fall back on if I can't get into download mode for any particular reason

then don't bring up how u could buy a usb jig on ebay and reset the flash counter as if it was never flashed before

Please enlighten me where I said a usb jig would fool samsung into thinking it had never been flashed before. I said they reset the counter which is what they do

did u forget wut this topic is about? they r wondinging if warranty is void if they flash, u said use the usb jig to reset counter so samsung does not know u flashed. and now u asking why i said samsung will not fooled by this? if u knew already usb jig will not fool samsung, why bother telling us about it?

Because I got asked how do you reset the flash counter. You can reset it with a usb jig. Do you not read through this thread fully? Pay particular attention to my first post in this thread

Where did I actually say all this. Do tell. Specific post numbers please

And where is your proof that it dosent if you look at my post someone has sent their re unrooted phone etc in and they had no problem. The guys on Xda do know what they are doing and talking about

Initially, most warranty issues would be handled by your network carrier, so I suppose its down to how deeply they will look into your phone before deciding whether or not to undergo work/replacement under warranty.

If your handset needs to go back for any reason then all you can do is (if possible) flash the carrier specific firmware that originally came with the handset, and if required, jig the counter back to zero. I would be amazed if there was only one single file/counter on the entire device that indicates non-official flashing, so if it needs to go back to samsung themselves, then there would probably be a discrepancy found.

All we can do is for people on here to relay their warranty stories to give us some idea.

there. u give out this info so u could get warranty from store before u send it back to samsung

how do u know if samsung doesnt know it was rooted? they chose to ignore it dones't mean they dunno about it

I'm saying that's all you can do to give yourself the best chance. If you read what I said then you would see I said samsung might probably detect some discrepancy

the best chance u can give urself is not to temper with ur 600 dollar phone
it's currently the fastest phone in the world unrooted, (not sure how fast iphone 5 goes since it comes out today) but i really don't see the need of rooting

Absolutely right but going the official route is your choice and I daresay countless others on here but equally there is a huge android community that want to do things via the unofficial route and for those who do this is the best chance you have of maintaining your warranty

and i'm saying it's not possible
they can ignore ur tempering, but they will know for sure

The USB jig is actually a Samsung creation. The firmware is (or was) designed to boot into download mode when a 301 Ohm resistor is connected across two of the unused lines in the USB interface. The zeroing of the flash counter may or may not have been an unexpected side-effect of this, but the boot itself was engineered in deliberately.

i really don't see the need of rooting

Then I respectfully suggest that you leave discussion of it to those who do (a) see a need and (b) actually understand what's involved. The OP posted this topic with a specific question, not for a debate.
