Root First Bionic ROM: UNL3ASH3D-V1.0

All I know is I'm really enjoying seeing this ROM quickly evolving into a full-featured ROM. Just a few features from CM7, and I'll be extremely happy.

I'm a big fan of Kejar's ROMS and I tried a couple of his test builds, but I keep coming back to UNL3ASH3D. Smooth as silk!

That said, I'd love to see a rotary lockscreen, power widgets in the status bar, and finally power options added to the power button. :D:D

I would love to see my recent apps in the status bar, not the power widgets. I multitask on my droid like 24/7 and losing the recent apps in the status bar from sense (only pro to my TBolt) made me cry a little inside... but then I realized I had HDMI out and webtop thanks to the awesome devs we have ;)

Can't you get your recent apps from holding down the "HOME" button? The functionality is already there I believe on almost every android ROM. Stock or custom. I've never understood why people would want them in another place that is already easily accessible. Just my opinion though.

Absolutely, and I wouldn't want recent apps taking up valuable notification bar space. Long press of the home button is just fine. :D

You can also use quickdesk and set it up for long press on the search key. This will bring up your recent and most used apps. You can also add apps to the transparent screen that you want access to all the time.

Here is a link to it in the market. https://market.android.com/details?id=sg.ruqqq.quickdesk&feature=search_result

I am hoping that the email app is fixed as indicated in the change log. Shouldn't have to download the Hotmail and YahooMail apps.

It worked right in 1.2, but in 1.4 no such luck.

I hope he puts the file manager from 1.2 back. I am not a real big fan of Astro as it is cludgy moving files.

Downloading 1.5 right now. :)

Wonder if it's time for me to start flashing without a nandroid backup? Hhmmn....

Edit: I wussed out and did a backup first. Flashed without a hiccup. Now it's time to run it thru some tests.

V1.5 is up including something called "Power Boost".

FYI, from the original ROM thread...
"HOW TO USE POWERBOOST V1.95
DOWNLOAD Script Manager from Market
Move unthrottle folder from your SD EXT to SD Internal
Using Script Manager navigate to the unthrottle folder and select menu.sh
Run as Root and hit RUN
Follow the prompts on the screen.
Select reboot from main menu"

Note: 1.5 comes with Script Manager pre-installed.

Why rely on the devs? Don't you back these apps up for future use?

I did do a Tibu backup of apps and data, not system, apps, and data.

I will check to see if it is there. Thanks for the advice.

Two Questions before I move from 1.4 -> 1.5 (Man I love how easy it is to upgrade!!)

1. What does powerboost do? Seems like a little bit of work to get it working, and I want to know if it's worth it.

2. I accidently installed a different battery meter with the P3Droid Bionic Toolbox. Will flashing over 1.5 over 1.4 now mess up because I did this?

Edit: Looks like the powerboost script is to unthrottle your connection. But I don't think mine is throttled so...

Over at rootzwiki, I believe DT said that the unthrottle script has nothing to do with your data connection.

Any idea what it does do then?? I clicked the link to the actual script in one guys sig over there and it has some bugs that worry me. Like FC's on battery use and mobile data settings. I don't want to enable a script that is going to cause problems unless I know what the heck it's supposed to do.

From the post: [MOD] BMc's Powerboost script-v1.95 BETA is live! OP

Your first boot will take a REALLY long time to boot, but it will without a problem and your data will be uncrippled by Big Red.

Sounds like it certainly has something to do with data.

From what I'm reading it's suppose to remove VZW's data throttling? I have read in the past that if you exceeded your data by x amount that they reduced your download speeds. I am going to assume that it's all software based and that this removes the restriction? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I did this, but when I selevt 2. Unthrottle then 4. Bionic the only choices I have on the menu are 1) UNL3ASH3D v1.2x, 2) Back to devices, or 3) Main Menu. Am I doing something wrong or does the script need to be updated?

I've read on the main ROM thread that people are having battery drain issues after applying the PowerBoost scripts (among other minor issues). Its jokingly being called a "forced beta". Unless you love flashing and are adventurous, you may want to wait for 1.6. Having said that, some people are having a great experience on 1.5, YMMV.

The script needs changes to work without issue on UNLEASHED. UNLEASHED v1.2 is the correct option, although it is mislabeled.

PowerBoost is a manual install, you can install 1.5 without it.

Right,

I heard battery drain is not an issue if you don't apply PB. I did get mixed feelings after reading about everyone's issues tho. I'll know in a few hours.

Sorry, I read your post a little too fast ;)

I was referring more to the "Wait for 1.6" part of your post, as I flashed 1.5, steered away from powerboost, and everything appears to be working great. No battery drain here, and I like the atrix camera.

That being said, I flashed at 11:00am today before the thread over at rootzwiki exploded with all the problems people are having. So after reading through that thread now, I have changed my stance, and maybe the less flash happy should wait for 1.6 :D

In a related side note, over there a couple people said that if you flashed and upon reboot gained script manager, that you have a "bad" zip that was mistakenly uploaded. Well I have scriptmanager now...but I wouldn't say the zip is bad...seems to be working fine to me

Probably was meant to be uninstalled before zipping up the ROM for release.

No worries at all, I do it often :D. I don't remember what time it was, but I believe DroidTheory did confirm that the later ROM downloads do have Script Manager. As long as everything is working it must be all good right!:D

I think if you don't have the camera app then you have a bad download. But if you need it I do have it pulled on my PC. Just let me know.

I'm sure the inclusion of PB was intended, its just run into a couple snags, namely a data issue which seems to be causing battery drain and the fact that some paths need to be changed for unthrottle to work.

On a different note, dHacker just posted that he will no longer be developing for the community, at least temporarily. Here's what he said:

Well I love developing for android and it is fun to me, but this latest rash of ungrateful people asking for ETA's on updates every 10 minutes and asking questions over and over about things that are answered int he OP or by searching the forum is very disheartening. I have decided to just devolp shit for my own personal use for a while. I do this for fun as a hobby not as a JOB and I do not work for you guys. Me and DroidTh3ory make stuff like we want to run it if it doesn't have what you want then I'm sorry but too bad. It's been fun though.

I hope he changes his mind, as this ROM has made me truly appreciate purchasing a Bionic.
