***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Guys, I can't help but believe that we're all being misled. Purposefully, perhaps. My personal theory is that maybe there is only one Nexus device. It will be the same on all carriers but released on Verizon first, for maybe a couple of months, and then on the others. Keep this in mind... Since Verizon passed on the GSII, why would they accept a Nexus phone that is pretty much the same phone as the GSII on Sprint, except for a few differences? I don't think they would hold out for a lackluster phone like that. I think we are all being misled. I think the Verizon phone is going to be a BEAST, and that Google is going to be using the Verizon version, personally, for their campus for employees and Android testers. That way they can be operating on the best and fastest network. Also, because every other carrier in the U.S. just recently got their versions of the GSII (and some aren't even released yet) I can't see how a Nexus is going to come out on all of those carriers in a couple months or less, when those carriers JUST got the GSII. It doesn't make sense to me. Maybe if they got a version of the Nexus with a keyboard or something, but something just isn't adding up to me. Such secrecy for this phone. Something is fishy, and I think it's fishy because the phone for Verizon is going to be a beast. I truly believe that. Ice Cream Sandwich needs to debut on a game-changing phone, on an amazing new 4G network with already great coverage compared to the other networks. This phone can't be half-baked. I think someone is misleading us. I think, as many other sources have said, we are all going to not only be pleasantly surprised on Tuesday, but we're also going to probably all pee our pants. Because I believe that just when we thought Verizon couldn't get any dumber, they're going to pull something like this...AND TOTALLY REDEEM THEMSELVES!!!

so.... you're saying there's a chance?

are you saying that since the GS3 is likely to release in spring '12 in Europe, we could be looking at:

SGS2 HD = Nexus Prime (GSM/WiMax version to be released in Q1 2012) = GS3???

if that's not what you're saying, then i'm not following your logic.

I am saying that we will get the best dual core Phone that Samsung will offer in 2011. In the Spring 2012 the SGS3 will start to hit the market in Europe.

(1.5ghz dual core in early Q4 2011, time to move on to quad core from there)

those specs seem kinda realistic, especially i have to remind you that the Nexus Prime is expected to be a "Gaming and Entertainment Enthusiast" (Source is CTIA)...
Great catch. I forgot about that.

I'd say thats a pretty revealing teaser...VERY interesting. GSM Arena may just end up right.

I know I'm gonna be late with this, but screw it!

...or not?

Nexus Prime

Honest to God...

...I will stand on the counter after purchase, rip my shirt off and yell, "I.HAVE. THE POWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAH," and then walk out like nothing happened.

Great catch. I forgot about that.

well at least i hope so... :D

PowerVR SGX543MP2 = Gaming and Entertainment handset.

but remember: gsm says they suggest the PowerVR SGX543MP2, their source only mentions a dual-core GPU by Imagination... and in my opinion that's not gonna be the SGX543MP2, but the SGX544MP2, because it's newer and i suggest slightly better...

Remember Verizon did something like this with the Dinc. If anyone remembers Verizon pulled back test units for it and made HTC rework it to be better. That's when the 8MB internal storage showed up. Unheard of before the Dinc. They wanted that phone to be the best out there and seeing how appreciated it still is I think they hit the mark. They aren't going to accept a subpar phone even at our unhappiness with the delay.

So you are leaning to GSM Arena this time? What about Lee Johnston's one in between? We actually got three reports if that one counts. I really hope BGR got it wrong.

I still don't understand all the negative responses surrounding the possibility of it being a 1.5Ghz dual core exynos. I'm totally with serial killer, I think that will be the processor in the device announced on tuesday.

All this garbage about the processor not even sampling yet is bogus. I confirmed through SK telecom's website that the Galaxy S II LTE which uses the 1.5Ghz dual core exynos has been on sale, which means mass produced, since September 28th. If it is in a production phone in korea already why can it not be in a production phone in the US within a month??

As for the ICS was designed for OMAP4 theory..... really?? I'm not a programmer, so i'm sure its much more difficult then it sounds, but it just needs to be ported over to the exynos architecture. Look at all the different processors the current flavor of android runs on right now. With all the secrecy surrounding ICS and this device, how do we not know that they switched ICS development from being based on the OMAP4 a long time ago.

if the delay of the OMAP4 4460 is true, I really don't see google/samsung opting for an overclocked 4430 for their flagship device. Maybe the guys that actually have some early models that work for google do have 4430's clocked to 1.2ghz but the final product will have the 1.5 exynos and thats where all these completely different leaks are coming from....

I have never, NEVER! seen this much enthusiasm for an electronic device in my life. EVER!

I remember being at the now-defunct mobileroar.com's LG Dare forums when news broke of a new Android phone coming called the "Droid". We (including YankeeDudeL and me) were very excited... and then we met again at another website, the now-defunct droidmotorola.com to await its release and earliest days.

But you guys? You guys are downright RABID for this phone, and I'm proud to say I'm foaming at the mouth right there with you. Which leads me to THIS concern:

Once we've peed our pants at the reveal on Tuesday... WTH are we going to do with ourselves during that agonizing wait for release???? We'll know all the good secrets, everything will be out there. It'll just be an excruciating waiting game at that point.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

The things that have been confirmed are the most important specs to me. FF camera, 4.65" screen, Android 4.0, dual core. Idc which chip or processor speed. No bloat or manufacturer skin. This thing will fly with any top end CPU. 1.2 and 1.5 will both be more than enough. I actually keep my DX under clocked with no ill effects. But i'm not going to let a little thing like me already being satisfied get in the way of enjoying this awesome thread lol

Your right, The OS should run on different platforms. If it did not, it would be a lie. I dabbled in programming since the early 80's and C++ was the language that would work on all platforms. Today Java is the key to all.

I thought new Exynos 4212 was reported to have Mali-604, not PowerVR GPU. But Samsung's own announcement site doesn't state type of GPU specifically, mentioning only performance boost. So I'm not sure what GPU is in the new Exynos. So there is hope to GSM arena report on 1.5Ghz new exynos.

SAMSUNG's Digital World

Mali T604 will be avaiable in 2012... so it will likely be in the Samsung Galaxy S3...

for 2011 i think a dual-core GPU by imagination will be more than enough :D

honestly if the GSMarena specs are real, u'll be able to play every game out there for about 3 years
