I'm just about to leave for a wedding and wont be able to f5 this thread for a couple days. This latest video/pictures are nice to see before I go.


Food for thought, Will verizon throw its brand on the front of this thing? I like how this video/pictures have such a clean face.

I didn't read through this whole thread, but I really hope the VZW "exclusive" is only as a subsidized phone and that I have the option to pay full retail for the GSM version immediately, otherwise, I will be quite peeved.

I'm surprised. Obviously, the phone is ready. For Google (and Samsung) to delay it at this point... Maybe it's out of respect for Jobs; it'd be a little crass to go on stage and bash his newest product days after it's been announced. I can wait for the device but to see a company, possibly, take the high road like this is amazing. Kudos to them (if that is their intent).

Edit: That said, I FULLY expect the phone to launch on it's planned date. The phone will NOT be delayed due to the death of Samsung's competitor's CEO.

Correct. However, this is Steve Jobs we're talking about. The ramifications for Google/Samsung could be massive if they played this wrong.

I'm guess that phone was the international/vodaphone version right? The radio was I9250 not SCH-i515.
 
you have got to be kidding me they delayed it!!!!!!! God why does everything always get delayed it so furstratingggggggggg

and for people saying its out of respect for Steve Jobs...... Apple must have known he was not doing well and they went on and released the iphone 4s they didn't wait becuase Steve Jobs wasn't feeling well......
 
well crap. I very much hope this is a short delay due to SJ and that the ultimate launch date isn't changed...just the announcement.

the only conclusion i can draw is that they believed the SJ tribute news would drown out their product launch ... so strategically it was better to push it back some so it could get some media "air."

I agree it shouldn't have anything to do with Jobs. I hope this isn't the beginning of the Bionic Syndrome.

Things get delayed for millions of reasons. Lets hope that Google and Samsung have noticed the remarkably huge following that this device has received after the apple flop and, decided to hold a larger separate event. Maybe someone important to the release had a conflict that caused it to be pushed.

We are all sitting here foaming at the mouths for this phone and, FOUR DAYS AWAY, they postpone it??? WHY????!!!!

All I can say is that this had better be really, REALLY good. Tuesday will be interesting to see what their "reasoning" is. We've got leaked pics, bootanimation video... this thing is out there. It's apparently ready.

I wonder what Han's sister is going to have to say on the carrier end about it... whether this is a reveal delay or a LAUNCH delay. God knows I want this phone.

Just thinking out loud here:
What if it's something as simple as wanting to push back a week in order to give the Iphone 4s (which currently can be pre-ordered at Verizon) a chance to release and move from "pre-order status" on Verizon?
If Samsung/Google want the Nexus to move to pre-oreders immediately upon announcement, I don't think Verizon would be to thrilled with pitting those two phones against each other in the pre-order wars! Easiest thing thing to do is back the the announcement up a week. This explanation also addresses the stated explanation of "the timing not being right"
Just a thought!
 
ahhhh i am soo happy they are delaying it, making my hope for a better soc a little higher. i guess they found out ti omap 4460 is not good enough to go against iphone 4s. I hope this is the reason why they delaying it and put a better soc in.
 
Delayed for no other reason than respect for SJ and....iPhone consumers / future Android consumers. Again from a business position if you are trying to gain market share from a company like Apple who's CEO had a cult following like SJ had the last thing in the world you would want to do it announce and attack their product so close to his funeral.

If they had gone ahead and launched the new OS and Nexus as scheduled they could alienate the consumer base that they want to buy their product in the future.

I say...they made the correct business choice...maybe not what Android consumers wanted to hear but I doubt that it will in fact delay the actual release of the Nexus device to chill out!:rolleyes:

Thats what I'm hoping for as well. I'm just past a year into my contract so full retail is likely thr road I'll take.
