Maybe they are reacting to IP4S Siri app. That app seems to be way ahead of any Google Voice or "assistant" app and seems to be integrated quite thoroughly in the IOS 5. Maybe they are cranking out a clone.

Showing my internet age again. Back in the day meant Quality Post or Quality Poster. Kinda realizing it's not at the top of the most used mini acronyms anymore. :D

FTW is the new QP. Sigh.

ahhhh i am soo happy they are delaying it, making my hope for a better soc a little higher. i guess they found out ti omap 4460 is not good enough to go against iphone 4s. I hope this is the reason why they delaying it and put a better soc in.

Sorry, but that's absurd. Hardwarewise, the Prime easily blows away iPhone 4S, even in the lowest spec we were teased with yesterday. Prime is already a worldbeater, and the notion that they'd delay launch by the several months it would take to re-engineer new hardware to make it even more of a worldbeater is just unrealistic.

Delayed for no other reason than respect for SJ and....iPhone consumers / future Android consumers. Again from a business position if you are trying to gain market share from a company like Apple who's CEO had a cult following like SJ had the last thing in the world you would want to do it announce and attack their product so close to his funeral.

Bingo! This is undoubtedly the real reason, even if Samsung finds it convenient to have another week or two of software polishing. It's the decent thing to do, and it's also good business sense.

I highly doubt that's the reason. Business is business. Samsung isn't going to just bow and say, "Please, Apple, take my sales for a while."
...
No, this is NOT good. Something's up, and we're all going to get Bionic'd now.

But you missed the point. Affording Steve Jobs respect is a smart business decision.
Bionic owners have NOOOOO reason to gloat about delays.

LOL, no they don't. And you know what? Prime is worth waiting for!

I said this in the delay thread but I think ill say it here too. I think jobs funeral is around that time and the top people at Google will probably be there since it seems like they had a good relationship with jobs. I don't see the prime getting delayed.

They could also have wanted their own event to unveil ics. Maybe a little bit of both.

Perhaps. Might Apple (Samsung's business enemy) have scheduled an SJ ceremony on the same date as Samsung's CTIA event? Seems terrible, but it's possible. I guess we'll see what's what on Tuesday.

But I am so, so very pissed. I think I'm just going to buy my OG Droid a new battery and polish the screen with some nice Windex and just retire from the forums. Maybe I will catch you guys on Nexus 9.

Good bye, everyone. Good bye. And please, no tears.

Good bye.

hey hey i am a Bionic owner and i am not here to gloat!! I hope you get this phone and get it soon.. I just like anything new :) And i could not wait any longer to get a phone. My OG Droid screen was busted. So at the time i got what i thought was the best phone. Just like you guys are doing. Who knows depending on price i might just have to pay full retail for this bad boy..

I asked above but did i see haptic buttons on that "video" Could there be chance they could upgrade the DB with ICS?? That would save me 600-800 dollars...

I think the biggest issue with upgrading existing devices to ICS would be the buttons. Unless they code it so the software buttons don't show up on the DB it would take up screen realestate.

Hi guys, just wanted to check in as I'm sure you're all disappointed. I can say that the announcement has been delayed for more than 1 reason. I can't really say why, but I can give you a hint. There was an article yesterday somewhere that said ICS is getting daily updates. The reason it's been getting daily updates is because Google wants it to be 100% ready in time for ICS launch.

As for when it will be announced, the date is known. I just can't share it. Sorry guys. Hang tight.

I think all we want to really know is will this affect that actual launch of the device?

wouldn't be surprised if that was closer to the truth than anything else posted here.

i just can't believe you delay a phone a few days prior to announcement because of decisions to change hardware ... seems that would have to be locked down long ago. similarly software may need polishing but that could be pushed with an update (and you can select what software to show-off). from a software perspective i suppose there could be issues related to items apple showed off that with a bit of polish they too could demo...but i doubt it is Siri...that would take a ton of work.

Disappointment yes....but your statement that THEY leaked the video and then delayed the event is incorrect.

THEY (Samsung/Google) didn't leak the video

They (Samsung/Google) did delay the event

Not the same they....

I seem to remember someone saying that on 10/6 we were going to be happy. Clearly this was not the official announce date. So what happened on 10/6? We got leaked video and a stupid amount of conflicting specs "leaked". Kind of coincidental. I'm not convinced the leaks (aside from the video containing the phone's profile) isn't part of a viral marketing campaign. Maybe someone else decided to "leak" another set of specs just to be a jerk and confused the hell out of us.

There is a video of a Nexus S running ICS. I'm sure google would make it possible for phones with physical and capacitive buttons to get upgraded.

Right. Shall we start a betting pool on how long the Android addict HanSolo ("Hiiiiiii HanSolo!") can stay away from his fix? I'm guessing 30 minutes max.

Have you guys seen this video..

Nexus Prime Release Postponed, while Preview Leaked on Video - International Business Times

Edit: NeverMind guys looks like you seen it way before i did. The phone in that video looked kind of slow to me, what do you think??

that also could have been an old video. Also the device that is in the hands of the testers are still getting updates to ICS almost daily. But yeah i noticed a good bit of lag as well. Also it looked like the guy doing it wasn't even that familiar with the operation of the UI.

P3Droid said we'd all be very happy on the 6. Presumably that's because he's the one who leaked the Prime specs to BGR (which I think are BS anyway).

I'm not convinced whatsoever of anything anymore. But I can tell you one thing. This announcement was not delayed for sentimental reasons. Hell, if they'd gone on with the announcement as planned and did some kind of special tribute to SJ, along the lines of (you made us work harder, Android wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you, blah blah blah), that would have come across as nicer than simply hiding.

If Apple decided to stage a ceremony for SJ on the same date they knew Samsung would unveil the next Nexus, and the CEO's of Google and the major carriers need to be at that ceremony, then fine, I get it.

But I highly doubt that's the case.

I think we're getting Bionic'd. This phone better not be plastic. That's all I'm saying. Last thing I need is for a delayed phone and then get one that bends like a rubber shoe in my pocket.

I'm trying to avoid the "t" word that gets the mods' attention, but I think you'd be best off not submitting flamebait posts.

iPhone 4S has a 1.0GHz dual-core A9, which is perfectly nice, but a 1.2GHz/1.5GHz OMAP or Exynos will easily meet or exceed it with anything w/the possible exception of intensive 3D graphics.

And seriously, you'd advocate 512MB of RAM for serious app work, compared to Prime's 1GB?! 3.5" Retina screen compared to 4.65" HD? Non-replaceable battery?

I'm not passing judgment on iOS 5, but hardwarewise it's foolish to say that iPhone 4S is leading edge. Either you already know that, or [refer to my 1st sentence].

Frak.

On a side note, I can't believe that my mood of the day depends on what rumors I most recently read on this thread. My poor team here at work is at the mercy of the NP and they don't even know it!

I'm not even going to bother reading the reactions to the delay news. We ALL thought it was weird that they would announce ICS/Prime during CTIA. In fact, many of us denied that this is what they were announcing at first.

I personally think Steve Jobs' death gave them a logical out. I also believe that they are currently (as I type) planning a much larger, independent event. I honestly think we're talking a delay of a few days, a week at most. It will get far more press attention this way, as opposed to just being an announcement under the umbrella of a larger event.

As for it being delayed because ICS is "not ready". It's not expected to be consumer ready for the announcement, it's expected to be consumer ready for the launch, which we all assume is still a month or so out. ICS is getting daily updates *because* it's so close to being released.

lol...I think this is your third goodbye in this thread, Han.

OMG! We have seen the video, We have seen the spec leak, we have seen the screen shots, and we have seen the delay announcement!

The delay of the announcement would go with what I was saying before.
That it would not be announced at the event.

Verizon will have an announcement on this device not Samsung and Google.

Google will have their own announcement for ICS only.
