ahhhh i am soo happy they are delaying it, making my hope for a better soc a little higher. i guess they found out ti omap 4460 is not good enough to go against iphone 4s. I hope this is the reason why they delaying it and put a better soc in.

this would make sense...

so the source as BGR said 1.2GHz TI OMap 4460 and this stuff... maybe this are the spec of the phone that google wanted to announce on october 11th...

now that these specs are very disappointing to all of us, they started with other hardware... likely the exynos 4212 and those specs leaked at GSMarena...

and now they plan to announce the better version of the phone a little later...

bug still... WTH, give us at least a concrete date...

Wow. The level of disappointment is epic. They leak a video and then say it's delayed? Just wow.

Disappointment yes....but your statement that THEY leaked the video and then delayed the event is incorrect.

THEY (Samsung/Google) didn't leak the video

They (Samsung/Google) did delay the event

Not the same they....

Hey guys, im new to the forums, but iv been reading this thread for the last hour or so. i cant wait to see what happens on tuesday. currently i have an age-old envtouch on verizon and i have been in the market for a new phone for nearly a year. Baisically i was set on gettin the galaxy s 2 when it came to the states so was really pissed when verizon didnt end up gettin it. They already got snubbed once with the gs2 and im hopin its cuz of this prime / nexus whatever. Ima be dissapointed if they get snubbed again with the lower specs nexus with the 5 mp camera.

haha sorry for rambling.

Welcome to the Forums. This is the perfect place for your ramblings. No need to apologize.:D

Was SO excited about this announcement. (Before the news of the delay) Now, I kinda want to crawl into a dark hole and hug meself.:(

the only conclusion i can draw is that they believed the SJ tribute news would drown out their product launch ... so strategically it was better to push it back some so it could get some media "air."

I think this is a really good point. Probably has more to do with over shadowing Google's big news than it does paying respect. Although paying respect will be the official position I'm sure.

I hate to say it (and no one would believe me anyhow...) but I did worry about NP's timetable after SJ's passing. None the less, it's the best political play if not gut wrenching for us.

Delayed for no other reason than respect for SJ and....iPhone consumers / future Android consumers. Again from a business position if you are trying to gain market share from a company like Apple who's CEO had a cult following like SJ had the last thing in the world you would want to do it announce and attack their product so close to his funeral.

If they had gone ahead and launched the new OS and Nexus as scheduled they could alienate the consumer base that they want to buy their product in the future.

I say...they made the correct business choice...maybe not what Android consumers wanted to hear but I doubt that it will in fact delay the actual release of the Nexus device to chill out!

Its still like a giant balloon just deflated....They could have at least given a new date of announcement.

Ok guys, need your opinions here. I have an update on my contract this month. I am absolutely PSYCHED about the Nexus Prime. The leaked pictures look amazing, the specs are insane...wow I want it. Now this girl on my FaceBook wants to buy a Verizon iPhone, which, oh wait! I HAVE ONE! Lulz anyways. Should I sell it to her for around $300 so that I have money to buy the Nexus Prime? Or wait just a little bit longer and see what happens?

Iphones hold their values. I was offered $485 for my AT&T iPhone in february. Im sure you can get more than $300.

I highly doubt that's the reason. Business is business. Samsung isn't going to just bow and say, "Please, Apple, take my sales for a while."

You didn't see HTC postpone their announcement yesterday. Do customers now view them as the Devil? Doubtful.

Why not just cancel the entire CTIA event?

No, this is NOT good. Something's up, and we're all going to get Bionic'd now.

This sucks. I'm so pissed.

agreed. disappointed. pissed.

Not the same they....

most "leaks" are controlled leaks. i would say it's no coincidence a video leaked the same day they delayed the announcement

Hi guys, just wanted to check in as I'm sure you're all disappointed. I can say that the announcement has been delayed for more than 1 reason. I can't really say why, but I can give you a hint. There was an article yesterday somewhere that said ICS is getting daily updates. The reason it's been getting daily updates is because Google wants it to be 100% ready in time for ICS launch.

As for when it will be announced, the date is known. I just can't share it. Sorry guys. Hang tight.

Delayed because it's not ready? Great.

I hope no one from the Bionic forums I've pissed off in the past comes in here. :(

i agree.

anyway i think they simply thought it was highly likely a SJ funeral would likely be coincident w/ their launch and didn't want to have to fight for the attention.

as long as it doesn't affect the actual product launch date i don't really care. frustrated, sure. no clue what happened w/ bionic though.

edit: well i posted this before VZ chimed in. what kind of company pulls this at the last minute? coming from iphones and the very well choreographed roll-outs of apple devices this seems a bit shoddy. anyway still looking forward to it ... hoping it won't affect the actual release date.

Agreed. It's "out there" without the perceived tackiness.

Still it's tough. Woke up to the best news (leaked pics and video) and the worst (announcement cancelled). What a drama this whole thing has been.

Thanks for the update. I am coming back in from the ledge. Looks to me like hardware is a go but software is still being assembled and tested. Bet the announcement is delayed less than 2 weeks. Overtime for all programmers at Google. Someone check to see if the lights are on at night over there.

Would this effect launch date of ICS/our next phone? Being a developer I 100% understand not wanting to show unfinished software, so the announcement being pushed back isn't a big deal. I'm also impatient though. ;)

I hope the other reasons don't include the death of 1 person in a country where 6100+ die per day. I don't agree with anyone who has a favorable opinion on that person, nor do I deify a head of a company whom I've read (or saw in a documentary, damn I wish I could source this) didn't even like the idea of the iPod. People always put too much praise on CEO's and managers for products when the real reason things turn out great are because of designers and developers.

Oh, also. Tell Google to give me my damn Google TV "2.0" update already. Whether it's Honeycomb or ICS.

On the upside think how MASSIVE this thread will be 6 months from now when this baby launches! Crushing the Incredible thread and allowing us to waste countless hours of our life hitting F5 in the hopes of something new being posted. The joys of being a tech whore.

Ok, we've seen the thing, have a pretty good idea of the specs, that's cool and all, I know I want it to be my next phone....THE THING THAT KILLS ME IS I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT NETWORKS THE THING IS COMING TO!!!!!!!! I wish they could at least announce that next week, pleaaaaaaaaaasssssseeeeee!!!!! That has nothing to do with ICS!!!!!! :D

lol i need a phone before december.... the clock's ticking for me :(

I was about to call out VZ as a fake because he confirmed the first leaked pic (of the screen resolution) as real but the software buttons are totally different than today's video.

But on closer inspection, the phones look the same, and I guess one of the "daily updates" could have changed the icon look.

I'm just really in a fighting mood.

Anyone want to meet me in the Lounge and go at it?:D:mad:

I know the phone in that leak has a big beautiful screen. I held my DX in a similar way as the person in the leak, and there was noticeably less screen left above my fingers on my DX. I wasn't sure how much of that extra .35" was going to be used by the navigation controls. Apparently not much of it.

But i'm skeptical that phone in the video is the galaxy nexus. Seems like it has a lot of bevel below the screen. Unnecessary. I said yesterday that there might be high spec tester devices out that are being used to test ICS but aren't going to be mass produced. I think this might be one of those devices. I just don't think its as striking as they will be looking for.
