Dude. The ONLY thing that is better on the iPhone 4S is that stupid Sivia or whatever it's called. They tried to show a video of a videogame being played on the 4S and that thing was lagging like crazy and they moved on.

Granted, user experience on the iPhone is considered to be the best out there, but only by people who don't like to make their own decisions.

The only thing that will blow away a 4S is a quad core? Time to wake up, buddy.

winner winner, chicken dinner. In the business world, no one does anything out of the kindness of their heart. There is a motive to everything. My thoughts anyway. I just don't see how it could be a software/hardware delay they just noticed 4 days before the event?? no way. I personally thought an October 11th unveil was pretty early for a device that I think will not get here until mid November.
 
I actually think that if it is indeed a delay due to the funeral would make sense. The press would be all over that and steal the show for Google and Samsung. Not a bad call if i may say so myself.... If that is the reason. Although I still hate the idea because imwant info! Lol

I must respectfully disagree. HTC announced their estrogen phone for Verizon, not Verizon. The promo ad for CTIA strongly suggested a joint announcement for ICS (combination theme, Google logo, and the "Google Episode" bit) and the Galaxy Nexus (the freaking phone was in the ad!).

Now, you might be able to argue that the announcement would have been for the World version of the phone and not Verizon's, but that's just a guess. But I don't think it's reasonable, based on the ad released by Samsung, to say that ICS and Nexus weren't going to be announced together.

I kind of look at it like the movie industry. Summer blockbuster release dates are set even before the thing is finished filming, let alone processed, cut, edited, and polished. Maybe October 11 was set internally a long time ago. Just a guess, though.

I do agree that software alone shouldn't be the main reason to delay an announcement. An actual release date, yes. An announcement? I don't think so.

Unless they were planning on releasing the software to developers immediately to get some ROMS going before the phone even drops. Is that possible?

EDIT: Also, VZ said that there's more than 1 reason. Maybe there's a reason that is more important than the software, but now they're using the delay to polish it up before announcing/releasing it.
 
lol. seriously...? i'd bet my left arm that it's not being delayed because of steve jobs passing. i understand the frustration guys, but that's really stretching it.

vz_wired said the delay is because of software issues. it's so close to release and i'm sure they're still finding a couple of bugs and that it's nothing major. he also said that as far as he knows, only the anouncement has been delayed, not the launch. and he knows more about the situation than anyone else in this thread.

My official stand is going to be a delay based on SJ's funeral which will probably be attended by some Samsung, Google, and VZW execs. The funeral will consume every media outlet in the country and Samsung and Google don't want to be second fiddle.

I understand. But why would Verizon not be involved? Its Verizons exclusive phone, I would think they would like to have the honors.:)

That's a good point. But I read on CTIA's article that Verizon's CEO (along with others) was going to be at the first day of the event. So maybe. . .

Argh. I just wish they would announce the thing already.

To add my 2 cents: My iPad 2 A5 dual core processor lags more than my Thunderbolts single core processor. I have not been impressed with the A5

My point was to both sides of the argument. We have not seen either one of these processor's and they are on different OS's which makes it impossible to realistically compare them. moot point.

I'm a little nervous about it being in London though. I wish they could've just announced it in a week.

This gives more credence to the opinion that SJ's passing was not the reason behind the delay. They're not going to give him 30 days' mourning, no matter how great a person he was (and he was).

I witnessed that. There are some posters there that seem to reed posts for the soul purpose of contradicting or picking apart every sentence line by line.
When they call you out and you prove them wrong their skin is so thin you can see through it.
When I seen what I considered an uncalled for banning I left.

And yes, if you seen me there I ate my Crow on the Bionic pictures. All by myself.
 
Being in London doesn't bother me. There was some talk about this being on Vodaphone. I could see them saying its going to launch on Vodaphone and Verizon at the same time then the rest of the carriers later on.
