This is your post for #4000? This? Seriously?

Crap... I shall go stand in the corner for 30 minutes :( I honestly figured 4000 had already been reached when I posted that. I now feel as though I let the entire forum down.

Are we becoming Andriod Zombies just like Apple Zombies? I can't just keep waiting to even find out if Sprint will even get this phone!! I need to get a phone now. I was going to wait to hear if and when Sprint would getthis phone on OCT 11. Now I have to wait just to wait some more. I have loved Andriod and have turned alot of people onto Andriod. I must be alone but I wanted to share. This last move has me actually think about just pre-ordering the Iphone 4S today. Without knowing when or if this thing is even comming to Sprint I just cant wait to wait just to find out IF and When. Maybe if i knew the rumored Nov 24 release for Sprint was true I could squeeze another month of patients, but the IPHONE 4S is here now!! The Nexus Prime may not be on Sprint untill early 2012!!!

Maybe its just me but one thing Apple did do right is release the phone the same time for all carriers. That is how every phone should work. Let the customers decide what network they want and not be steered to a network for a certain phone!!! Ok I'm done ranting thanks for listening (or reading) lol...

dude, there are a couple of android phones offered by sprint that, personally, i'd pick up in a heartbeat over the iphone 4s. i mean, don't they have the SGSII?...honestly, if VZW had the SGSII right now, i'd already have it in my hands instead of worrying about when the prime is gonna hit the shelves. but that's just me, and my OG Droid is getting too long in the tooth.

(oh, and apple didn't release a version of their iphone on 3 out of the 4 major carriers in the US until 4 years after they first debuted the iphone. remember?...at&t exclusivity for a few years?)

it's coo' though - I understand you're a little blinded by your passion for the prime ;)

AnandTech - Qualcomm's New Snapdragon S4: MSM8960 & Krait Architecture Explored

This is a really good read for SoC nerds.. especially if you wan't to know why performance is more than just clock speed.

It's also interesting to note that for all people whine about Scorpion/Snapdragon.. it sure isn't baseline Cortex-A8

What's missing in that article is Samsung's new quad core Exynos with Maili-T604 GPU that will go into SGSIII next year. If Krait S4 is only 30% faster than A9 clock for clock, Sammy's new quad core Exynos beast will have no problem beating it hands down.

If there are indeed two prime phones, I could see them being on the same level as the Nexus One and the Droid Incredible, which were very similar in specs, and only had a few differences, the main one being Sense on the DInc.

Thanks jmt for writing what I was thinking. Oh yeah, there's a whole lot of us in this forum who would've been all over SGS2 LTE for VZW if it'd come out. Helluva nice phone!

That's it!!! I knew I recognized the UI on that phone that was shown in the video this morning! It looks like my fiance's Epic 4G Touch! The way they tilt the phone to place the widget on which home screen they want, that is TOUCHWHIZ! Wow... That story is DEAD ON! Everyone go read it and watch the video again. The droid guys are onto something. They are thinking exactly what I'm thinking.

ok, but we don't know which one is which, and which one is coming to vzw. if we assume 2 different devices, there are several possibilities:

1. VZW gets the pure, vanilla Nexus with the GSMArena specs
2. VZW gets the pure, vanilla Nexus with the BGR/DL specs
3. VZW gets the Touchwiz, non-stock Prime with the GSMArena specs
4. VZW gets the Touchwiz, non-stock Prime with the BGR/DL specs

i'm using VZW in these examples, since most believe VZW will have an exclusive ICS device at least for a while.

Exynos isn't all that much faster than baseline A9 either.. it's real power is that Mali400 is one of the best performing GPUs on the market, with room to spare at 200MHz..

Check out the discussion of Adreno 225 on page 3... hoooly crap. Qualcomm (and Samsung) know that the future of SoC performance is in the GPU, not necessarily in the CPU..

I thought it was interesting that Krait supports dual channel PoP now, too..

Dual channel LPDDR2 was very uncommon in SoC to this point, because you could only do a single channel PoP, had to put the other channel on the package..

Edit: Also, I haven't seen that Samsung has said anything about an Exynos quad-core. nVidia and Qualcomm are the only ones who have even paper-launched quad-core.

I must respectfully disagree. To me, that is clearly an new version of Android's stock launcher. Also, Touchwiz includes their power widget in the status bar, which is not present in this video (even though I wish stock Android would include that). Touchwiz has always been quite a distinct overlay and I just don't see that here. Just MHO

There ARE several possibilities. However, since that leak this morning was out of Germmany or something, so that's Europe and European bands, I would say that is the GSM phone. So, that's the phone for everyone else. Since VZ_Wired is saying that the BGR and Droid-life specs were wrong, and he obviously is, apparently, a Verizon Wireless employee of some sorts, I would say that Verizon is getting the better phone with the GSM Arena specs. I could have it backwards though. Every other carrier but Verizon got the GSII, so I can't see Verizon holding out for something less as good as what all of the other U.S. carriers are going to get in a month or two. Ya know? Just my thoughts.

sound analysis, my friend; very sound.

altho, if no one can agree on whether the video is stock or TW, we're not gonna make much progress... lol

Agreed. Though I see some similarity in the way widgets are added, it's looking like mostly stock ICS. I think that's somewhat old video with outdated proto-type hardware.

Since verizons version is supposed to be a replacement of the droid charge VZW might be the one getting the touchwiz version, although I hope not. I hate touchwiz

Where's Chief today? I'd expect full Chief-like participation during such a momentous event as 4000 posts. Since we have no other momentous event to look forward to for a while...

SPIT!!! :(

I go out for a few hours this morning to do REAL LIFE stuff and this forum blows through 5 pages and 4k posts like it was nothing! Looks like I have my priorities all wrong: now this thread IS my real life stuff and the real life stuff can just wait. Who cares about hungry kids and dogs, neglected wife, bills piling up? I mean, it's the Nexus, baby!

I guess my speech will have to wait for post 5,000... which at this pace should happen sometime tonight :p

So the general consensus is that the video showcases an outdated prototype with an older version of ICS. and its not the VZW version since the video was from Germany?

Yeah, you're right. Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich just kinda has some borrowed features from Touchwhiz, which wouldn't be a bad thing. But you're right, I watched the video some more and that is the new version of Android. It just looks a lot different than what we're all used to, and I mean that in a VERY good way. It is very pretty, and looks to be a big improvement. You're right though.

Hey guys, just want to check in with a few things (sorry for the longer post):

1. During our breaks (and non-breaks, lol) a bunch of us surf the forums on our phones and laptops, and we compare a lot of what we hear vs. what's the truth. I just want to say that BY FAR you guys (and gals) are the smartest group we're seeing. It's amazing how quick you guys are up to date on what's going on. Unfortunately, a lot of what's swirling around is utter bull, but still, you have no way of knowing that. And you're smart because you guys are SO DAMN CLOSE! Taking your posts piece by piece, from our perspective, we can pretty much say that you're spot on regarding what's coming for VZ. Unfortunately, you're all contradicting each other so it gets muddy, but hilarious.

2. CTIA announcement date is NOT 10/27.

3. Release date is NOT 10/27.

Again, it's subject to change, but from what I know it won't.

Please, hang in there people. You will be very satisfied with this phone. I, as well as 6 other guys I work with, are buying this phone at an unsubsidized price (no, I don't get a discount on hardware, only plan).

We've had our hands on it, and it's a total beast.

It was out of Romania, btw

But it also didn't have a SIM card in it, so would that matter in terms of bands?

Yeah, that's how I feel. How could a German tester test a Verizon 4G Nexus device when there isn't even Verizon CDMA OR Verizon LTE in Germany? Unless, of course, the video was taken in the United States and leaked through a German website, which I find hard to believe.
