***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Since CTIA lasts until Thursday do you think they might annouce NP on Wednesday or Thursday? I mean it would be pretty short notice but isn't there a chance?
I've resorted to hoping on every possibility

that's still possible, but honestly i don't think that will happen...

but in my view vz_wired could do us a favor and release some new info (maybe specs?) of the NP on Tuesday, we all have waited for tuesday so long and it' be kinda unfair if all of this was senseless, especially because we have to wait until a not-yet-announced date (again... ~.~)

edit: oh and (maybe i forgot but) did vz_wired (or some of those twitter-guys) say something about the GSMArena leaked specs?

No one knows anything at this point and until the specs are released and we can officially put this to bed, I'm applying logic to the situation and that's what logic suggests...

I respectfully disagree. There ARE people who know. And there are TONS of specs out here. People in the know have already stated that some of the specs over there are right, and some of the specs over here are wrong.

That's what makes this thread so agonizingly exciting: trying to make all the pieces fit and see how close we can get to the real deal!

TI is going to use TSMC for their 28 nm process chips
QC is going to use TSMC for their 28 nm process chips
Nvidia is going to use TSMC for their 28 nm process chips
Samsung is going to use....drumroll....samsung for their 32nm chips (4212)

So it wouldn't be out of this world, if in the middle of hearing all these problems with the 28nm process, if we see a 32nm chip come from Samsung. No matter which chip it is, Software will make or break the device. My thunderbolt has pretty good specs, but I would rather use my OG droid for everything other than FFC because it just works. That is where the iPhone wins...they just work.

If the iP4s was announced with a bigger screen and LTE -- I'd probably be buying it. Instead, apple shuffled some chips around, and pulled a Microsoft...they bought Siri and rolled it into their OS and called it innovation. So right now my chips are on the NP.

Verizon is mandatory because they are the only carrier that seems to give a **** about the military, as their coverage has been far greater than anyone else's. Nothing like stepping off a 20+ hour flight from the middle east to watch everyone with Verizon whip out their cellphones and make contact with their families while you curse at your horrid reception. That and their 4G strategy in the 700mHz range has the best potential for building penetration....

Silly question (for post 4900), but:

Without the Samsung/Google announcement Tuesday, is there anything else at CTIA that we should be looking for? If so, what?

EDIT: Nevermind, I answered my own question here:

And Tuesday is the next day the FCC will likely work, as Monday is Columbus day. So that and it being the originally scheduled date, I wouldn't be surprised to see something pop on the EAS either...

I think that's an excellent question.

While some may decry the period of mourning, it's important to note that the tech companies, like this forum, are made of people - who are more often than not personal friends, fierce competition notwithstanding. After all, birds of a feather do flock together.

For those who may have any cynicism that the delay is just corporate posturing, this may prove insightful -

But seriously - what could come of CTIA of material interest to us?

Personally, I'm numb at the thought of anything.

Even those not waiting on the Prime are waiting on ICS, so - you know.

That edit wasn't even on on-screen when I hit reply - you're quick!

So - Wordlogic?

I POTENTIALLY agree with you Chief, but leaks are leaks. Some are true and some are not. The degree of secrecy here makes me think that there enough red herrings to feed an army. Sure there are people who THINK they know the final specs, but unless they eat at a table with Google or Samsung execs, it's just hard to say. Fundamentally I agree with you though...Just sayin' there's a chance!

What if tuesday they still announce the prime and just make it for more of a shocker and suspense? I mean yes it won't be the unpacked event but what if somehow they build off of the suspense and announce it then or maybe just the verizon version? Most likely won't happen but I think doing it this way would get a lot of press time.

They stress Gaming and Entertainment with the Nexus. That reeks of Exynos 4212...nuff said. Now get back in your seats kids!!!

How do you know that is the nexus and not the new sgs3? I mean it makes more sense it being the sgs3 since that will be sammy's real super phone just like the sgs2 was. Not to mention it makes sense they would unveil the new sgs3 then since the exynos chips rumored are said to start showing up in phones around that time.

There is always a chance that our Verizon point of contact is blowing smoke up our stacks... but I don't think they are. They seem very sincere in their efforts to clear things up for us, while still protecting their own job/interests.

I don't even have dreams that good, Raider. But it sure would be an out-of-the-box way to do it!

That's what I was thinking it would really be a different way to do it. Honestly I don't see what the big deal is just show it off like apple does and then have preorders a few days or week later. No need to have a big thing for it just get the phones into people's hands.

d'oh, i've been using this forum wrong... i've been "tipping" posts that i like thinking that it was like giving a server a tip...not passing a "tip" along to staff...

sorry mods! :o

I now see the "thanks" button ... d'oh.

SGS3 is too far away to announce at CTIA. SGS3 will probably be sporting some other new fangled super charged, liquid cooled proccessor .

I'll be waiting on the Galaxy Skin, which will be MY PHONE after the phone after the Galaxy-Nexus-Prime. Maybe sporting a super-thin transparent battery and solar-charging screen! WHOOT

The Skin:

Transparent battery:

And the solar-charging screen:

Add all that together and you have would could be close to the "ultimate" phone :D

I wouldn't worry about it. Those posters probably needed reported anyhow, knowing this lot like we do.

Edit: :-)

The question is does it have siri? No? Then forget about it :D

Edit: now the concepts in the galaxy skin are "game-changing"

I can tell you first hand where I work and barely get a 3G signal inside their 4G building penetration is even worse. I was counting on the 700mHz helping in that regard too.
