Have you guys noticed that although the ICS software buttons are hidden on the lock screen, that screen space is NOT used. It's just blacked out:

I hope that's not the case on web browsing and movie watching. .

Yes, I noticed that yesterday when I was editing that render I did with the Galaxy SII HD framework. It will be interesting to see how that turns out to work.

Also, sorry I've been gone all day. I had an interview today with Chesapeake Energy. Went great. I was dying not being able to check this thread for any new news for about an hour there during the interview. haha

@NashDoroid:

An HOUR? An HOUR without checking this thread? Geez you probably missed about half a million posts! You've got some catching up to do!

BTW good luck with the job thingy!

EDIT: It would be hilarious to think that your interviewer was thinking "OMG I wish this was over... I have to get back to the Prime thread!" :p

Hahaha! I actually got caught up over the last couple of hours, but my fiance was getting pretty tired of me being on my phone. I always tell her, at least I'm having an affair with all of these nerds on this forum instead of cheating on you with an actual woman. haha She doesn't find it as funny as I do. Compared to all of the addictions I could have, this one isn't bad at all. It's a much better alternative, I think.

It's funny to see P3Droid, black_man_x, and that Flemming guy get all pissed because no one paid attention to their poem but are now picking up the story from Phandroid about the release date.

At least Steven didn't ask for 10,000 posts before he let us know what his source said.

Great question. And not one I feel we'll be able to answer until we get our hands on it.

I read somewhere that capacitive buttons were chosen over hard, physical buttons because of a lower failure rate and because it simply looked cooler to have lit-up buttons.

Software buttons may not have any failure rate at all. . .but I'd be kind of scared relying so completely on software.. .

That's what I was thinking. Can't really count extra screen thing because the buttons reduce the usable space. And I feel the same way about relying on software buttons. I LOVE my physical buttons on my DX. Probably just my opinion but i'm hesitant at the thought of controlling the operating system with only the operating system as opposed the physical device.

@justabrake i'm going to stay civil. I felt this was a question best left to discussion because it is IMPOSSIBLE to Google a subjective comparison of the two because one of them haven't been released. I'd rather discuss something than get unverified info off wiki that I can change myself.

this might be the fastest moving thread in the world. i leave for 30 minutes and theres like 5 more pages. anyway, im really looking forward to the prime. :) hopefully we can take down apple....

Thing about marriage is you marry the bad with the good... hopefully more good than bad! But she's gonna have to get used to you being a phone geek and following the Prime thread (which is now the crystal meth of the Internet), and you'll have to come to terms with the fact that she'll always have more closet space, drawer space and sink space than you will.

Trust me on that one ;)

I notice a lot of people bashing Ti processors and i think they are getting a bad rep because they are all getting bogged down by motoblur. I have a droid x now with cm7 on it and it KICKS!

I know a lot of people dont put a lot of faith in benchmarks.... esp quadrant, but i think it gives a good idea on graphics performance. But with my droid x not being bogged down by motorblur ive achieved 3200! in quadrant standard! While being bogged down by motoblur my droid x usually gets around 1500. I would love to see what the 4430 in the bionic/d3 could do if it was running stock android. let alone what the 4460 could do! (kick the crap out of first gen exynos that's for sure)

On the other hand that might just cause the servers to shut down....so never mind that is a bad idea now that I think about it:eek:

It is difficult to keep up. But I don't think you really want apple to go down. But rather to innovate and force Android to innovate. A monopoly leads to stagnate technology advances there is no reason for anyone to WANT apple to go down. Competition breads innovation ;)

Not that it means much, but considering the phone was original dubbed (and may in fact still be called?) the Nexus Prime...

11/3/2011 is the first date in November that contains all prime numbers.

Edit: 11/2/2011 is the first date in November that contains all prime numbers, 11/3/2011 is the first THURSDAY in November that contains all prime numbers.

Just out of curiosity, how many posts/pages did that incredible thread get that everyone keeps talking about?

Hey all you RAZR-slobbering-over people:

Have you noticed that the RAZR appears to be made for lefties?

http://st.gsmarena.com/vv/newsimg/11/09/motorola-spyder/gsmarena_001.jpg

I couldn't help but notice the camera button toward the TOP of the phone, not near the bottom. So when you're taking a picture, you're gonna be hitting the camera button with your LEFT finger. Not sure I could adjust to that...

I'm going to venture a guess and say that's the power/lock button. I think physical camera buttons are dying off, unfortunately.

Software buttons are better with big screen devices because they allow the buttons to appear or disappear when needed. The can also be revamped for different applications/operations.

Speaking of software, I believe that 2012 will seperate the boys from the men in terms of software. Some people won't buy this but we are reaching a point where most phones will be solid performers and the distance between the fastest and slowest phones will be pretty slim. Software will be be the X-Factor. Companies that don't let go of their laggy skins will pay dearly!...yes moto...I'm talking to you! ICS is the opportunity for companies to focus on design and optimization.

Hopefully the Prime gets ICS off to a good start. Set the bar high so we can weed out some of these supposed high end phones. Too many half assed phones kill support for Android.

I'd love a job consuting for the manufacturers... just pointing out their wack ass decisions. :D

I have a quest regarding the name. I remember about maybe 2 months ago one of the tech sites stated there was 2 phones being release by VZ. It stated there was the Nexus and the Droid Prime. The prime replacing the Droid charge, and galaxy nexus would be Google phone on VZ. Could someone clarify this thanks!! Hey my second post!

Hmmm. That does look odd. YodaDroid said in another forum that those images on the Verge were not leaked but a mock up, so maybe it's wrong?

Good guess, but I'm kind of running on the assumption that they're reusing parts here. That button has the same pattern on it as the one on the OG Droid. It doesn't look like a power button... but I suppose your guess is as good as mine.

Almost ;) :D

SWEET. That is the most awesome analysis on this thread in days. I mean that totally as a compliment!

Not sure I'd like that. It's basically a 4.3" screen with a gimmick.

I hope they allow you to simply tap the screen to bring up buttons. If you can do that with the Pause, Play, Rewind, Etc. buttons, I'm sure you could do it with the software buttons. During web browsing, too.

So you have an extra tap, big deal. At least you'd get a real big-screen experience.

Otherwise it's a smaller screen than the Vigor (4.5") when you really look at it.

I thought the Vigor is supposed to have a 4.3" screen.
