I claim that no such last-minute takedown of ICS code or features is happening due to anything involving Apple patents, because it's irrational.
Period.
That's my opinion.
I'm clinging to Nov. 3. My D2 just froze again (it'll turn the screen off and it won't come back on) and it reboots itself multiple times per day, randomly, and often my GPS just won't work. I'm going to throw it against a wall, I can't wait much longer.![]()
Sure. This so-called reliable Russian blogger was discredited on most of his Froyo statements and now we're hearing from him again.
I'm calling shenanigans.
They have all the time they need because they haven't announced anything. That would take MONTHS. They have DAYS. The first scenario is far more realistic. I sure hope this crap is resolved soon because I really, really WANT THIS PHONE!
I understand you sooo much! I had the same problem with my MM (Droid), the same thing. That's why I changed it to SGS, and it's much better now. I wich you will be satisfied with the NP.
Agreed.
On the idea that ICS is compromised.

By the way - I could be right. I often am.![]()
Given that Google is backing HTC against Apple, and given that the key two patents Apple is trying to hold over HTC's head were being challenged by Motorola as their prior art, rendering the patents invalid if upheld as true by the court, I'm really not buying that anything about this has to do with fear of Apple lawsuits. (Oh - and all of the news and saber-rattling on that stopped as soon as the acquisition started, and none of the reliable sources reported on the significance of that, so - you know.)
I get the guy is a reliable analyst, yadda yadda yadda, but this smacks too much of sensational conspiracy theory for me to buy into at this point.
Choose -- The announcement is delayed because:
- A mourning period for the friend of the Google CEO was in order
- Of good marketing, don't introduce your next big thing in the shadow of the iPhone announcement and Jobs death, else suffer the press hammering Apple, Apple, Apple while do
- Google discovered out of the blue and at the last minute that Ice Cream Sandwich, a fusion of Gingerbread and Honeycomb that been out for months, suddenly has a important patented Apple features and Apple litigation is really scary to Google and/or Samsung
Occam's Razor - the simplest answer is usually the right one.
I could be wrong, I often am. But today - I'm not buying it.
I can understand if there was a software issue with this phone, but what is stopping Samsung from showing the phones specs and pictures?
ICS will not be for just one device. It is being made for cells and tablets.
It would be stupid to release a OS that only works on one device and say, Hey we will release this OS for the other devices in 2 months.
Now, I do think it's possible that perhaps some of the features that were going to get major play during the presentation might not have been quite ready. Even a little bit of lag or a crash, and it would have ruined the excitement building up for it.
These products are far too developed and their pipelines have been scoped out by other competitors (it's called CI, or competitive intelligence) for far longer than we've been speculating, for them not to get launched. At this point any issues will be worked out in the great washing machine of patent invalidity and infringement claims. Too much money is at stake to delay or negate a launch. It's a high risk/high reward game and that's the way it's played.

I think that a main advantage of Siri is persistent conversation context, so she remembers recent and recurring concepts and can readily plug them into a new user request w/o the user having to drill all the way back down to identify it again. "Make an appointment at a greek restaurant" followed later by "Navigate to the restaurant."And we already have voice recognition working in most all of those ways.
It looks like the other cell companys are giving more info on their devices then Samsung is. And it would be a shocker if Moto and HTC had ICS on their new cells as well.No way, man! Could you imagine if Apple came out last week and just showed a picture of the phone? They'd have had a riot on their hands. Could you imagine, all those mewing sheep rushing the stage?
You have to show off the smoothness, quickness, and awesome user experience. Otherwise everyone will be wondering why you didn't. It'd be a killer.

I'm still betting on Nexus Prime (Cellebrite) or Droid Prime for the US. Galaxy Nexus seems to be attached to every euro leak -- so my guess is that is the ROTW name. Ergo all these rumors about dates related to Galaxy Nexus from people in Europe sound like they are about the Galaxy Nexus being released there...
Did you just include a while/do loop in there? Hell, if I'd known we could script all our responses I'd be way ahead of Han!![]()

I'm sorry, but I just don't get it. How often do people make restaurant reservations? I don't think I've gone to a place that requires a reservation in a year or more. And when I did, I wouldn't have trusted OpenTable or any online reservation site; I called it in and talked to a real person to ensure I got to sit where I wanted to sit.I think that a main advantage of Siri is persistent conversation context, so she remembers recent and recurring concepts and can readily plug them into a new user request w/o the user having to drill all the way back down to identify it again.
