Never understood the want for boot animations. I'd rather the phone just come up than have something that's gonna cause it to take longer to come up.

Doesn't the boot animation just play while the phone is actually in the boot up process rather than just staring at a blank screen?

Thats what i have always thought, back when i used http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/296348-boot-animation-mod-coa-call-android.html i would notice different amounts of time it would take occasionally for me to boot.

no? i figured taking a guess is probably better than you just getting ignored

I would guess that a boot animation would take at least a little processing power away from the boot process, slowing it down a tad.
