***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Can someone tell me what the DDR2 is in the RAM spec?

It's an incomplete description. It's actually going to use LPDDR2, aka Mobile DDR.

Mobile DDR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DDR2 SDRAM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Note that just specifying DDR2 does not mean superior performance.

Note also that blogs rarely get this sort of thing right.

Dual-channel architecture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DDR and dual channel kinda don't mix AFAIK.

It's simply a modern type of ram with a name similar to that that you'll find in your PC, stressed in the blogosphere to convince you to read that as "the good stuff."

Unless you're an electrical engineer working in the semiconductor industry, you don't really care about the alphabet soup called DDR2.

All you care is that like most every single high-end phone on the market, that you're going to be getting your memory in a package made by Samsung, the leader in mobile memory and the leader in memory manufacturing process technology.

I heard its going to quad core, 2.0 ghz
2gb DDR3 ram
2.65" SAMOLED+ screen
have a 3000mAh battery, "ultra thin"
the old iPhone 4 5mp camera, 2mp front
some sort of quad core GPU
4G LTE
No bloat
Unlocked bootloader

*They did say something big was coming, right?

Since there has been hardly any news phone wise, I decided to think big :D
Sorry, a bit of a useless post

LPDDR2 is the latest type of RAM used in smartphones made in the last 6-9 months or so. It's available in different speeds and also single versus dual-channel, but there's probably no way to find that out w/o confirmed specs from the manufacturer.

4.63" vs. 4.65" could be the same thing w/roundoff or conversion error, the screens may(?) be manufactured w/metric instead of English measurements. I know dot pitch is always measured in fractions of a millimeter.

This is true as the international version (and AT&T) of GS II has a 4.27" screen, not 4.3.

I'm tuckered out. Good night all.

And Jungle and r4yN, good morning. Hope you get a chance to read through all this!

I want 5G LTE. Need more G's.

Surprised more haven't commented on this. Should we take this as authentic or probable?? Anyone??? ANYONE??????

any ones guess. Nobody knows anything and everyone knows nothing.

I could sign up on a forum, give myself a fancy handle, post the same specs, say I've handled it and it would go viral.

This is the problem with pre-release threads. The noise to good info ratio is 2000:1

It's this processor it's that processor, it's this camera it's that camera and on and on and on.

This will go on endlessly because the ones that know aren't talking.

I took it to mean that the battery sucks BECAUSE the screen is too big and colorful. Which is a shortcoming of amoled, correct?

AMOLED is superior to LCD in power efficiency when the screen is black (no pixels are on) but less efficient when screen is white (all the pixels are on.) It depend what you're doing. Browsing the web with lots of white pages, LCD wins. Watching movies with lot of dark scenes? AMOLED wins. It depends.

That's the spirit! Don't give up your hope. Here's to hoping that you're right.
Does specs would be the biggest let down ever.
These specs are not what I would call a super phone that everyone was waiting for. GEEZ, even Moto can do a better job then that and thats pushing it.:(

If anybody believes the new specs that were released today, They need their head examined.

The only thing i truly believe right now is that i am sick of waiting

today was meant to be a glorious day and all that happiness was taken away from me and replaced with this twitch every time i remember what today could have been lol

I'm not doubting it. As a photographer I am interested in seeing a section of the image @ 100%. I know its a phone but I do look at all of them @ 100% that I can to compare.

Is that a Wimberley head on your tripod in your avatar? I'm jealous. I just get by on my old Arca Swiss... not as good for long telephoto lenses.

Here is the deal, If they do not do something before 10-14-11 they are the dumbest company ever. Friday, Verizon will release the iPhone 4S and they can kiss the sales of any other phone goodbye for the next 30 days.

There are not to many smart people out there, They will buy the brand name, not the tech in the phone.

Can you say Baa Baa iSheep we have another phone.......

1 million already pre-ordered and more to come.

Edit: GSMArena spec lover group: vandyman, Nashdroid, cereal killer, r4yn, etc. And me..

That's what I thought. As a person who browses the Web and reads on my kindle a lot, the battery would take a hit. But oh well. I'll take whatever battery life comes along with the phone I like. Its never a deciding factor.

Ok, I still say the Galaxy Nexus will be a SGSII-HD Variant.

CK, If things do not shape up around here soon I may need you to break out the box of Shredded Wheat.

Don't count on them doing anything before the 14th brother. I'd say there's a chance on the 18th. Samsung and Google will be in Hong Kong for All Things Digital. Would they really not reveal ICS and the Nexus then? I just don't know the answer to that one.

One would think they would but then again just when you think something makes perfect sense it doesn't happen. Our next milestone will be the 18th. Something has got to happen then. Even just a mention of when the event will take place in the US again. We will hear something I bet and what that something is is any ones guess
