Don't mean to derail the current direction of your conversation.

I did search on the first page and didn't notice anything mentioned about HDMI.

Do we know if this will have or is rumored to have/not have an HDMI out?

Everything I'm reading is damn near perfect in what I'm looking for in a phone but as an oldshchool gamer I'd love to be able to get some gaming going on the big screen.

Now only if Samsung will get their act together with allowing bluetooth controllers to play nice....

Husker I have you covered. Turn your speakers way up and listen to this. This is how I shall retire my Droid when the time comes.....

It will be a sad of sorts. This thing has flashed literally hundreds of roms, BA's, and kernels. Never an issue. Still runs perfectly at 1GHZ

Please crush your dream before you are sorely disappointed.

Exynos 4212 hasn't sampled yet, and people expect it in thier phones.
OMAP 4470 isn't supposed to sample until next year, and people expect it to be used today.

Not going to happen. Just not.

Keep in mind, that many of todays mobile games can't run at that higher resolution, so they will be upconverted. That means it won't need to manage as much overhead as speculated.

So performance could actually increase over phones like the Bionic. Also, if it is vanilla, it's almost certainly going to be faster just because of lack of blur.

3D games don't have to display at the native resolution. If 720P is too slow, you can run the game at qHD resolution or lower.

Not bad but I'd still like to throw mine off a cliff. Yes like you i've run countless roms and mine is oc'ed but im just way ready to take the upgrade leap.

Charger, I will be PLEASED to post a picture of her: at her Retirement Ceremony, as she passes the baton to the Prime! :)

EDIT: BTW I have had her clocked up to 1.2GHZ and thrown multiple ROMS and kernels at her, and she has taken everything I've thrown at her with rare good grace. I just won't be able to part with her. (Besides, she's not in FULL retirement: I may need her as a standby phone in case Prime has to go in for repairs ;) )

I'm going to insert long razor blades between the screen and body to see if it screams. Then I will pour a little bit of gasoline into the headphone jack and then stick a lit match into it.

After that, while the screen is still flickering, I shall bury it alive.

And then I will skip to the Verizon store and get my Prime! And it will last me until I tire of it.

Really want to see a pic so we can have an idea of build quality. Samsung doesn't have such a hot reputation for that.....

The slashgear article goes on to say at the end that the chip will be sampled 2nd half of 2011. Not saying it is going to happen but we can't rule it out definitively either. That could be why the phone is a "beast", was the phone slated to win the gaming award at CITA, and be "ahead of the curve" it could be they even underclocked it 1.5 to help quench the thirst for battery.

Point is all I'm saying is if everything is set for the phone and TI happened to make the 4470 available for Google why wouldn't they jump at the chance to put it in the phone if a chip swap is easy?

I am very close to the drop limit on mine. So many things don't work anymore that it barely still qualifies as a phone.

I would never try to replace you. I just happened to log on as soon as steven asked for an update.

As far as a simple model, I don't think you can have a reliable trend if the model is that complicated. I don't think there is a real trend here. Just tons of posts.

And it was excel. I don't have minitab on my laptop, only my work PC. I do apologize!!

Every CPU has bugs, even the CPU in the phone or laptop or desktop you're using right now. CPU errata (here are examples) have to be published by the manufacturer once discovered, and operating system writers occasionally have to tweak things to work around the bugs.

The 4470 might work perfectly well in a direct swap, or it could take weeks or months to track down what's not working and figure out what to do about it.
