So Samsung Galaxy Nexus -- that's not horrible. I could get used to it.

Sucks that we probably won't see more information regarding the phone until next Tuesday, but I can hold out. Just stoked to hear some official info on the topic.

BTW good morning everyone.

Personally, I am hating the name Galaxy Nexus.

Bet that brand dilution is due to the buyout. Does this portend a Motorola Nexus? HTC?

PS - Gooooooood morning, NexusNam!

i'd like to see what LG or SE could do. well, assuming SE can ever get their act together anyways

Well ~ To be honest when I was typing it out it felt wrong...even a little dirty. Nexus Prime feels so comfortable to type out...like it was meant to be all along.

I have a dumb question (i know, no question is dumb....lol).

I am currently using my DX and a 16gb SD card. I have been using the cloud for all my music (thanks Google) and the cloud for all my pics (thanks Dropbox).
I have numerous backups made through CW and still have many gb of memory left.

With the Nexus only having on board memory, what would anyone do to take up 16gb or 32 gb of memory if all their music and pics are saved in the cloud?

And while i am at it.............MANY thanks go out to Steven and the other mods for such a well run thread! Amazing job you folks do :):)

i want to see a moto or lg nexus next, samsung has too many court battles that are delaying the device, so lets get a new manufacturer

if its moto, you will hear the other oems call foul on the count that google owns moto...

i believe there will be (if there isnt of course replaceable sd cards) then their will be several devices, 8gb, 16gb, 32 gb, possibly, hopefully not though

Good evening, Nexlings. I trust you're all having a simply wonderful time.

I must admit I was quite excited to see the Galaxy Nexus appear on the Verizon internal database, as reported by the fine men and women at Droid-Life including Kellex, who also makes wonderful tampon products, if I'm not mistaken.

Unfortunately, I am in quite a conundrum. On Tuesday next, the same day as the announcement, I shall be working quite late. Quite late indeed, in preparation for a trial I shall be participating in on the following morning. I shan't bore you with the details, friends, but suffice to say I may in fact be locked in a room full of lawyers and witnesses, taking depositions into the late hours of the night. I'm sure you will be shocked to know that such meetings have dragged on until almost midnight on several occasions!
?
Needless to say I am quite distressed in view of the fact that, while you fine ladies and gentlemen shall be greedily and sloppily devouring the Hong Kong event live via Youtube stream, I very well might be unable to share in your delight until much later.

This grieves me sorely.

So it will be you and 12 angry men. Good Luck.

Another no-SD-card-related question: In my DX, I have 8gb internal and a 32gb sd card. I can't directly touch the 8gb so everything goes on the card. This isn't bad because I've never had to move an app to the card to free up memory. So how will this work without an SD card? Someone earlier (a fellow DX-er if I remember right) said it's partitioned. Will it be like 2gb for apps and system stuff, and the remainder for user space?

I know someone posted something about this but I'm not sure I understood so I'm trying to be more specific.

As i understand it, there will be partitions on the phone where you store different things, just like the iPhone and the original Nexus S.

You can just do backups on your PC..........

Is anyone familiar with Batman: Year One? I'm thinking of some movies I haven't seen that I want to try out on the Nexus, and I think animated will look really good in HD. I haven't read the story but it's supposed to be good. (Please don't spoil it for me. . I just want to know if it's a good story or not.)

Good story,This coming from a guy who is spending 3 days at ComicCon.

I have a Sharp display in my 3vo and I gotta say, it's the most color correct display I've seen on a phone. (Gamma at about 2.2 to 2.3, ideal is 2.1) And Sharp has had a retinal resolution Android in Japan for over a year.

So for those of us preferring color over absolute brightness and high saturation, if we're putting in wishes, I'd like to see one with a Sharp display.

And Sharp Nexus sounds intriguing, to me.

A half dozen or more partitions are not uncommon in Android.

(bootloader, radios, system, data, cache, applications, sdcard and so forth)

I wouldn't be upset if even HTC got in on the action. HTC Nexus Prime or HTC Prime. Samsung just has too much action going on with Apple.

Off Topic ~ is Hans ok...he hasn't posted in awhile...maybe someone should call him or run over to his place to make sure he's still breathing. I'm sure during the down time he was having withdrawls.

GOOD MORNING NEXITES! :D

(a) I apparently missed very little.
(b) Thanks for the Google Music Invite. I am slowly but surely uploading music.
(c) Sorry for stressing you Mods out over the whole invite thing.
(d) Four and a half days to go!

First time poster long time reader here.

Now, here is to someone else not like the Galaxy Nexus name. Feels like two phone being pressed together. For months we've been hearing Prime, and damn does that sound right.

Guy 1 : Whats that phone you got?
Guy 2 : Galaxy Nexus.
Guy 1 : The Galaxy or the Nexus? is that kind of like iPhone?
Guy 2 : No, its the Galaxy Nexus.
Guy 1 : Oh, the Galaxy or the Nexus?
Guy 2 : :(

I feel that Google should keep going in the simply Nexus ______ path. Everyday i get people asking me what my phone is and im like, Galaxy S. Most of the time, people are like : Thats like an iPhone. I have to answer, No, this is Android etc etc. People are only starting to recognize the Galaxy brand and the Nexus brand.
From a marketing point of view, from what i feel, both "franchises" should remain seperate and shouldn't be sleeping with each other. Galaxy S should remain Galaxy S 1 - 2 - 3 and the Nexus should keep being Nexus (add rest here).

Galaxy Nexus just seems so dirty and smushed.

My 2 cents.
Im still buying it
