so is this the 'problem' steven's source told us about?

personally i don't care im waiting for the GSM-version anyways... but if there won't be any verizon-model they may announce the GSM-Version on Tuesday :)

I am with you I hope there is an gsm version coming soon

Steven58, did your source reveal whether or not it will be available at Costco? I ask because I'm hoping to return my Droid Charge for the Galaxy Nexus.

P.S. I remember you from the original DInc thread. It's good to "see you" again, so to speak.

Nope, it's done manually.

Wow, hats off. You mods really do rock! I'll try to not make your job harder.

Interesting! So seems Steven's source does know what's going on. Must be stressful working there these days. :(

And I heard she bites!:p

Oh boy...here we go...next 100 post about how horrible Verizon is to their customers (not arguing there), I just want things back the way they were in the good ol days on this thread...positive and uplifting..........Steven help for love of god help us.

I really cannot imagine Google and Samsung lying about the reason for the delay. Not that they're altruistic forces for good, but because it would be some pretty bad PR to hide behind the death of a industry leader.

Official Statement from Samsung’s PR Director Kim Titus:
Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11. Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We would ask for the understanding of our clients and media for any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course

they never (officially) said it was delayed because of Steve Job's death.. the current circumstances could also refer to their problem with verizon... just a thought

I don't understand, what would Verizon have against google wallet?
Anyway, as of today, steven's source said a verizon release was still going ahead, and this article suggests that verizon was already exluded from the release, so I'd probably not put too much stock in its claims.

This does give validity to a lot of the things Steven's source said. That if this had happened sooner it might not have launched on VZW. Didn't Google Wallet only come out 2 or 3 weeks ago. That may have been when this all started. I do agree that it is probably too late for VZW to back out, but it all makes sense. Also makes sense why the VZW phone has not gone through FCC yet, and why the unpacked event is taking place in a different country... where there is no VZW. Who knows, just a guess though.

Well, Verizon is really into Isis, but I think this is probably more speculation. Just like the one about ICS being plagued with problems.

Hope you're right. But with Steven's source saying Verizon is acting like a Dbag and being problematic with Samsung and Google, this article fits too well.

I hope we're not getting screwed again by Verizon. I don't like their screwings.

At all.

As crappy as this would be, I would bend over and take it. Verizon has the best coverage in my area, all of my family are on Verizon and I would just settle for the next latest and greatest.

Not getting a Verizon would be a big disappointment.

I think it's a misnomer to call any of what has went down a delay. Until November 3rd comes WITHOUT a new Nexus on VZW there hasn't been any delays.

I'm pretty sure most of the confusion around the announcement was really related to Job's. But it probably further complicated already complicated arrangements that were made behind the scenes. And those had probably already been further intensified by not so agreeable things being done by Google to test VZW openness. So basically a lot of what we are hearing is probably true in some way, but nothing as far as actual release has probably ever changed much.

This makes total sense in light of what our source said about the problems surrounding "other things" which s/he couldn't go into.

(Steven58 prepares a noose for himself)

Not hard. :D

Don't believe her. :p

Very interesting if true, brilliant if trolled.

Hmmmmmm.

It would be brilliant. I believe it. Our source didn't say anything about this, though. I'm not going to ask him/her because the may be too depressing. :p

As has been mentioned a lot, im sure there are already thousands of units made for VZW, almost ready to go. I'm sure they wouldn't just SCRAP these phones, plus it's in VZW and BB systems. Someone must have put them there. I would imagine VZW and Sammy/Google had a contract before these phones were made, so I'm confident the Gnex will be coming to VZW...

Don't do it, Steven! Shoot CK if you need to release some stress, but if you die, our love tunnel source dies with you!

Someone stop him!

CK, get in there and take one for the team!!!

Here's an interesting article on isis:
Isis: AT&T, Verizon, And T-Mobile’s $100 Million Gamble In Mobile Payments | TechCrunch

Some choice excerpts
Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have reportedly made plans to invest upwards of $100 million in their joint-venture mobile payments network called Isis. Can anyone else smell the competition simmering?

And:
The carriers had originally planned to launch Isis around mid-2012, but since Google (and Sprint) seems to be on a faster track in terms of setting up merchants to use the service, Isis may pick up the pace.

As long as VZW doesn't screw it up for everyone. I'm on ATT with unlimited data grandfathering so I'm more worried Verizon tanks the whole phone somehow.

Better yet, hopefully this is Google/Sammy's way of releasing the GSM version worldwide on Nov. 3rd regardless of VZW. Maybe VZW pissed the wrong person off and now they're going to pay for it with a Hong Kong release of the version they can't stop.

....hmmm, could I be getting a GNex sooner than expected?

Agreed, my meaning is delay of the announcement, not delay of the phone itself.

Aw. You're adorable.

Haha, thanks man. I can just imagine the headlines that would come out if Google/Samsung had lied though. "Google and Samsung Use Steve Jobs' Death for Cover Up". Or the BGR version: "Google and Samsung Not Lying After All".

Plus the rumor started by Murtazin didn't say anything about NFC either, so we're getting conflicting reports on why Samsung/Google lied. I think we're getting trolled personally.

Friendly mod note -

Guy humor on divorce and re-acquisition is not a universal form of humor.

Guys expect anyone uncomfortable to speak up, but remember, those most uncomfortable sometimes speak up the least.

It's all fun until someone gets bad feelings and we don't want any of that.

Cheers, thanks a lot! ;)

Sorry about that! As CK said, he and I go back a long ways - I was a mod, and he Admin on another forum. We have a level of familiarity and humor that, admittedly, others may not appreciate. I meant to merely poke fun at myself, and not to target any others. My sincere apologies if my "humor" was in bad taste.
