i bet if i had the Prime that it could tell me who to sit/start this week for fantasy football. cuz i'm stumped. thanks Verizon/Google/Samsung.

RANDOM -- my boyfriend and I work in the entertainment industry in various freelance positions. TUESDAY he is doing a shoot for Google. Interesting timing. I guess they are last minute replacements because they had a schedule change.

[Edit] - Maybe I'm swept up in the forum madness but I don't think this is a total coincidence being the same day as ICS launch.

any info about the shoot, may i ask?

Beyond what I already mentioned, just that it's in Michigan. I think we have 2(?) Google offices here. One in Metro Detroit near me and one on the other side of the state.

[Edit] - He won't get any details until Monday probably. Way the industry goes for us usually.

Heavens to Betsy this place has manic highs and lows!

Yesterday morning we were shattered. Last night we were elated. This morning we were down. This afternoon we're depressed again, wondering if Verizon has the money to burn by re-neging the contract and NOT releasing Gnex, in favor of RAZR.

I personally think this is a bump in the road. A BIG bump. But here's how I read it:

VZW, Google and Samsung corporate have their knickers twisted over our NAILING the Gnex specs early. Motorola wants to release RAZR, and Verizon is committed to providing Moto top billing in a release. But Verizon's worried that a pure vanilla device released at the same time will steal all the RAZR's customers. Moto is owned by Google: so Google makes a LITTLE money on Gnex but loses a lot of money on RAZR.

Samsung laughs all the way to the bank. Verizon loses absolute control over Gnex, something they want. Google loses money on RAZR by releasing ICS on Gnex at the same time. So everyone's up in arms about what to release and when, and whether to stay on schedule per contracts (makes up happy), shuffle things up a bit to give everyone a period of exclusivity (makes us unhappy), or cancel the contract, DROP Gnex on Verizon and just sells the global version (nuclear option).

The nuclear option would be catastrophic for everyone in this forum. Verizon and Samsung would lose millions, Google might make up the loss with RAZR sales. Lost money AND customers all the way around. BAD IDEA, corporate folks. BAD IDEA.

that does seem awfully suspicious it got rescheduled to that day. sounds like they are waiting until its announced and public and maybe want to do a shoot of the device for marketing? assuming that is what its even about. 9 chances out of 10 though it was probably just a coincidence. theories and rumors can get started very easily in a forum, tossing around ideas and possibilities.

Very true. It just seems like an awfully big coincidence since it's such a big day for Google. If it was a VZW or Samsung shoot, I probably wouldn't be as intrigued.

this sounds so much like verizon that this might be the first time i'm actually concerned that it may not happen. i've stayed positive through the ups and downs, but this seems too likely to ignore....

I feel the same way, but still it seems like Verizon would be cutting off its nose to spite its face, especially leaving it as the only carrier without a Galaxy S II device. Also, it's not like there's that many NFC capable places in the US right now, and probably won't be for a while. I still think it'll launch on VZW.

I don't understand, what would Verizon have against google wallet?
Anyway, as of today, steven's source said a verizon release was still going ahead, and this article suggests that verizon was already exluded from the release, so I'd probably not put too much stock in its claims.

Very interesting if true, brilliant if trolled.

Hmmmmmm.

I'm leaning toward trolled as this would be a HARD device to stop for Verizon at this point. Not to mention they seemingly asked for it since so far it has seemed like a VZW exclusive in the USA. Don't think it would work out to well to negotiate an exclusive and then try to get out of it in the nth hour for VZW.

is it possible for a company to care any less about their customers than Verizon? i mean seriously. if they already weren't planning on marketing this phone because of the Razr or Vigor then they obviously weren't expecting a lot of new contracts from it to cover subsidizing it to customers upgrading. so they don't plan to make a lot of money off of this device, i could seriously see them cancelling the whole project over something like this. i mean what do they care, they have the Razr and Vigor coming out soon. only a niche of customers will be excited for Android 4.0 at launch.... not happy.
