***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

It's funny because the pentile/non-pentile issue was a deal breaker for some people and now we don't care as long as the proc is fast.

SD or no was also a big deal back when everything was 'unknown'.....now who even cares?

It's all relative I guess....

I'm not hung up on pentile vs non-pentile screen thing at this high resolution. Just wanted to point out that qHD screen on Razr seems to be pentile as opposed to what someone said yesterday Moto is moving away from pentile screens on Razr and future phones.

Here is an open question: What are the minimum specs that would still make you want this phone? I understand everyone wants more, but where is the low end bar set.

TIOMAP4460 (clocked at 1.2)
8MP (rear camera)
2MP(front)
32GB (on board memory, no sd card)
1GB ram
4.65" SAMOLED HD screen (at 720p)

Is there anyone else that is concerned about Steven's source? I mean if these "leaked" specs are true then Steven's source was really not a source at all. Just sayin'

Edit: and I personally would feel bad for Steven since he's been the link between him/her and all of us. And we all know how we are.

To reiterate this point, the TI OMAP 4460 only started sampling early this year (Q1). We aren't going to see products until Q4. Design and testing take time, and by the time you've designed something in, there's something better right around the corner.

I'm not as up to mobile CPUs as desktops but to me TI squeezing out 200mhz out of a chip in a year and calling it new doesn't sound like industry standard that could be used to determine how long it takes from sampling to production.

Yea, we appreciate everything the source gave us......but if most if it was wrong then we didn't really learn anything.

Don't get me wrong, it kept me sane while waiting, but I'd love to hear from the leak after the release tonight about why he/she/it thinks what he had was wrong. A follow-up, if you will, with your leak Steven?

Did Google purposely mislead the source or do the phone really go through that much of a change during the build process? It would be good to know for future 'leak' assessments from other sources.

Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich
LTE
32 GB internal (or I would be fine if it had less but had a sd slot)
HD screen (don't really care if pentile or not as long as 720)
1.2 OMAP 4460

Less than that and I start to at least browse around to see if I like the Vigor or RAZR better.

Or his source received a different (non-final) version version of the phone. I'm sure all the really credible leaks have all been real, even the contradicting one. There's more than one test version of this phone out there.

(Verizon) LTE
1.2GHz+ dual core processor /w decent GPU (I don't care about the spec as much as long as it's fast)
720p screen
A non-terrible exterior design
Vanilla ICS

Ok I am officially signing off until later tonite. Rumor is rumor and speculation is speculation. I've done enough of that in this thread to last me a few years. So I'm done for now.

My keyboard is going black until tonite....peace out my friends. I'll see you on the backside of this blackhole.

I hope it lives up to everyone's expectations and if not, no long faces. There will be other great devices to choose from. Its only a phone.....there's more important things in life

Can we talk about you while your gone?

vanilla ICS, LTE, and just better internals than any phone currently in market

if im going to buy a phone on a 3 yr term id like to grab something that is better and more future proof than the current devices for sale, or i could just grab one of the other devices, but then again we always have to weigh the pros and cons b4 taht decision could be made, ICS may be a big pro

I understand why you might feel that way, but the only way I think the info we got from his source was bad, is if the execs were feeding it to the employees as a "Red Herring" of sorts. I have faith that Steven didn't lead us wrong, and neither did his source.

3 year contract? Ouch.

I haven't seen a set of rumored specs for this phone that is anything less than perfectly adequate for me to purchase it.

The only things that I can think of that would cause me to return it are:

A) Size. This is completely subjective, because I don't have some hard limit like "taller than 5" is too tall." It's all about how it feels and handles and sits in your pocket. If it's too big, I won't keep it.

B) Pentile screen. This, too, is subjective because I'm not going to reject it if it has a Pentile screen. I'd reject it if it suffers from the same "look" as the original Galaxy S phones, or the Bionic.

ok... sorry I'm back. I had to actually WORK a LITTLE today... You would think the doggies and kitties would KNOW their is a big announcement today and refrain from getting sick! I guess they missed the memo

Only 300 posts since I've been gone????!
