While losing power and falling trees is not good, I can't say I'm not jealous. Here is the view out my back window:

This is the way it looks 95% of the time. We get so excited about weather we turn off all media and pull up chairs to watch. No joke!

That looks like what I used to stare at in New Mexico. It's gorgeous if you keep your eyes above the horizon.

Does anyone post often on the other threads in this forum? I just did it a few times and it felt like I was stepping outside on a cold day in my boxers.

WOW! There ARE other threads!

Yeah, it's a little.... weird, isn't it? We have such an allegiance to this thread we pretty much forgot about the others LOL

Are you between los Angeles and Vegas?

Somehow the snow is missing us in western ny. It's odd because we usually get some sort of snow before halloween, but haven't yet this season. I guess it just means the rest of the winter will be extra brutal if we're going to make it to our average snowfall this year.

Just thought I'd finally join in the fun after observing the past couple of days. Can't wait to dump my charge for this beast and actually get some software support for a change.

I don't understand why face-unlock keeps getting referred to as a gimmick. Seems really really handy to me as I find it annoying to manually unlock my phone every time. Also, while I haven't used it yet, I think you might be underestimating how well it works. Most facial recognition applications don't just use surface features. A lot of its is a triangulation between eyes, mouth, etc. I'm sure major changes such as beard (not scuffle) to no beard could throw it off, but I cant see a lil scruff be an issue. I'd like to see how it works with glasses.

Not sure I get the someone using a picture of you issue either. I guess maybe over it could be less secure than a pattern lock but for the most part I think a lot of people are just using the slide anyway so this is at least as secure as that.

Indeed. We just lost half a 50 foot tree our yard is now officially snow-tree covered. Roll on nov 17

Hopefully the other 25 feet of the tree is alright. It is amazing how much damage early snow can do. I have family in Denver and I have helped them shake snow off of tree branches on more than one occasion.

I currently just use the slide. I am planning to try out the facial recognition and hopefully using it long term. Less than 3 weeks; can't wait!

To all in NJ (meaning, 80% of the posters on this forum), is snow this early a usual occurrence?

I'm used to harsh winters in Chicago, but it's surprisingly a sunny, crisp, nice Autumn Saturday here.

I don't remember snow on or before Halloween ever. But if the last time it happened was 1978 then it would make sense that i don't remember since I would have been 6 months old.

I post in a couple other places here but it's mostly games or general topics, this is really the only phone area I'm in.

The earliest that it snowed in NJ that I can remember was Columbus Day.

As soon as I get this puppy I'm going to test BOTH the face unlock with glasses (wear 'em) and holding the phone up to a picture of me. It will be an interesting experiment. I sure hope it works with glasses, as I would hate to take them off every time I want to use the phone!
