Same here, ie paying for it but not using it. I'm phoneless which is kind of wierd. Still worth it to keep unlimited data!

I'm pretty sure i'm in the same boat. I chatted with a VZW rep today, and they said I should be able to keep my unlimited plan when I order a new phone. I save the chat transcript for proof too :D

This was me from two years ago. The 2nd pic is my friend/co-worker, and she was the "Angel of Death". She called me her "little brother" that year. :D

Actually those of us that do get out more have more of an interest in the panoramic feature than those who don't. I'm going on a couple of skiing and boarding trips this winter, and I would love to take some cool panoramic shots of the mountains in Denver and Santa Fe. And don't get me started with the Moto cameras. I could paint the damn thing faster than those cameras snap it.
:D
Well, having owned the "slow" camera on the DX, I'm shocked at how many great panos I have taken, or for that matter regular pics. The Bionic Pano feature is substantially faster, to the point it captures about as fast as I care to turn around. Quick photo tip, the mountains generally aren't moving very fast, so you should have time to use even a Moto panoramic on them...

Will the Razr have a zero lag shutter? Nope. But note the photo tests using zero lag on the GNex resulted in a few blurry shots. But hey, they got quick blurry shots!

It is pretty clear, however, that Moto can do no right in your eyes. Are they the best camera on a cell? No. Hardly the worst, though.

Seriously, the GNex has enough going for it, do people really need to make up stuff to hate on other phones?

Not really sure what news is left besides:

  • A concrete release date, which they already said is most likely the 17th.
  • A pre-order date (if there is one), which will probably be the 10th.
  • Verizon's changes for the SGN.

yeah, i don't think we're going to hear much of anything about this device until a release date is confirmed, and we start getting more hands-on video leaks from testers. it's gonna be a slow week in this thread, i think...

I hear ya. I looked at switching to a dumb phone (my old LG Chocolate) so I could at least have voice, but the CS rep was good enough to say I would lose my unlimited dataplan if I did, recomended to either get a old refurb if I didn't want what was out at the time (bionic) or wait for the phone I wanted but keep paying for it without using it. Glad I waited, but hopefully not too much longer! Starting to get the DT"s being disconnected for so long!

Here's the transcript from my chat this morning. I have activated an old dumbphone, and if Carol wasn't lying, I should be able to get unlimited data back.

info: Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.
info: You are now chatting with 'Carol'
Carol: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Me: My smartphone stopped working, and I needed to activate an older non-smartphone for the time being
Me: have I lost my unlimited data plan if I purchase another smartphone?
Carol: You will be able to keep your unlimited data plan. Are you logged into your my verizon account to activate it?
Me: I have activated my older phone
Me: and I haven't yet purchased my newer phone...I plan on ordering the another smartphone, but I need to make sure I can keep the unlimited data
Carol: O.k! Yes, you can keep it when you purchase your new phone!
Me: great, would it be possible for you to email me this chat transcript?
Carol: After you exit out of the chat, it will pop up with a message that will ask you if you would like it emailed to you, and you can click on it.
Me: Awesome, thank you for your time
Carol: You're welcome, have a wonderful day!
Carol: Thank you for visiting Verizon Wireless, I look forward to speaking with you again. Have a great evening!

Smart move getting it in writing (ok, electronic writing). Never hurts to make sure!

Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer. Looking forward to a new toy!

What? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but most people hate Moto cameras. I don’t have to be a “hater” to point that out. The Gnex blurry shots were blurry because of the hands-on guys testing out the zero lag were waving the camera all over the place, hitting the shutter button in very quick succession. Moto does have awesome radio technology, I’ll give you that, but the Bionic screen was a total joke and yes, the camera blows. Maybe it’s not a turtle compared to my OG Droid, but I’ve seen enough washed out photos from a Bionic to know that the camera is terrible. Compare them with the pictures that popped up on Picasa taken with the Nexus and you will see a HUGE difference. I don’t have to make anything up. You can just take a peek on the net and do some research to know what I’m talking about.

I'm tired of waiting for the release date for this phone. Let alone the phone itself. It's just bad business. as much as i despise the iphone at least apple gives you and announcement date, a preorder date, and a launch date. not to mention a list of carriers. playing the waiting game and this guessing game is just making me want to go pick up a sgII. i understand that the nexus's specs are probably worth the wait. but this is just ridiculous .

It's possible. Another example is when my OG Droid died last week. I performed an insurance claim.
Verizon reactivated my old LG Env2 while I waited for the replacement. During this it was explained to me the LG was not a smart phone and my Data plan would not apply but when I reactivated my new OG Droid it would return.

It did, in full unlimited force.

That says nothing about activating an old dumb phone. You just asked if you would keep it going to a new smart phone. I would not do it because I don't think this will help when you walk into store and it shows you said nothing about a dumb phone. Just be safe and don't activate the old phone.

Forget what I said ha. Def missed over where you said non-smart phone first time. Atleast now you can wait and get the nexus with no worries=)

Good luck, I hope she was right. Carol might be gone in two weeks and Verizon will have no problems telling you she was wrong.

I would listen to this advice. I’ve had a few experiences where a company will tell me that the customer service rep I talked to was “mistaken” and deny any obligation to come through.

Just for the peace of mind, I’d pay the $30 or whatever it is for unlimited data for the next month. The Gnex should be out before December, hopefully.

Let's make more unnecessary threads about Verizon not releasing a date yet.

The sticky up top has a tentative release date as per Steven's source. There is no current information from Verizon or Samsung or Google regarding an exact release date.

Yeah, my advice is also continue paying even if you can't use it. Then when you get your new smartphone call VZW customer service and ask them to credit you for the past month when data was not used. They should be able to see the "0 kb used" or whatever and credit you back after you explain the situation. They're usually pretty good about doing that.

Edit: To add to your case: the cs reps will also be able to see that the phone you were using while paying data was a "dumb phone" so it shouldn't be a problem getting the credit

Well patch is really mad I mean you know verizon cares oh so much about that one angry customer. /s:rolleyes:

yes i'm sure i'm the only one frustrated about it. and even if they don't care, which they probably don't, i still think its very bad business. I'm sure verizon/android fan boys will defend these decisions with their last breath, but it's still really stupid.

The article I linked to states:

An article published by the UK’s Telegraph this morning has our inbox filling up with worried future Galaxy Nexus owners. Could the world’s first Ice Cream Sandwich device launch in Europe on November 17, but not in the U.S. for another couple of weeks? According to this article, that’s exactly what will happen. Here is the quote from the piece that has scared us all:
“At a recent Samsung European launch…the company confirmed that the European launch will precede the device going on sale in America and the rest of the world.”
Uh oh. Could it be? Last week, the internets were abuzz when Samsung announced in London that the device would most definitely be out on November 17 in Europe, but this is the first time we have seen “America” brought up. I would say that most of us were under the impression that the U.S. version would more than likely be out at that same time to make for one big Euro-American launch. Now, I wasn’t at the event to know if Samsung actually used the word “America” or not, so I would say that we shouldn’t freak out too much at this point. This is the first time we have seen any news publication use something other than that the phone would roll out in Europe and the “rest of the world thereafter.”
Verizon has told us that the phone will be out some time this year – whether or not that’s November 17 is still a mystery. You can all survive for another week or so can’t you?

EDIT:

This seems to be the article that was linked to earlier, but I'm perplexed as to why Droid Life is freaking out about it. I don't see an official quote anywhere. . .

Hmmm.
