From what i've seen so far. Web and video game browsing are 4.3". Which is lame if you can't make the icons turn to dots and use more of a 4.6" screen while having little dots to recall the software buttons.

Thanks I was assuming in landscape the software buttons would be replaced, should never assume. Oh well, sounds like video is the only thing making use of the full screen then?

Why would they release the HTC phone on the 14th???

Seems more and more likely that VZW's gonna pull the nuclear option on us and actually release the RAZR on the 10th, the HTC on the 17th and Nexus... well, after that :(

Why wouldn't they? They can't be thinking all too highly of the Rezound anyway. I mean they apparently aren't even giving it it's own poster in the stores. And the other 2 phones on the poster aren't exactly part of their all star lineup. First thing I thought when I saw that was that Verizon thinks of the Rezound as a second tier phone.

Edit: And they didn't even see fit to put the Droid tag on it.

I wouldn't be the LEAST bit surprised if Verizon silently releases this thing with no announcement whatsoever. Just sitting on the shelf. Alone. And then NOT letting us know about it, even though we signed up for information online. Someone here in the forum will walk into a store and see it quietly launched already.

We should all take shifts at the vz store...who wants to go first?

I see what you

Here's what I think will happen:

Razr launches 11/10
Rezound launches 11/17: VZW likes to launch phones on Thursday, and they do NOT want to launch it the same week as the GNex, lest it steal some of the bloated HTC's thunder
11/24=Thanksgiving, so no GNex
GNex FINALLY launches, with zero fanfare from VZW, on 12/1

Hope I'm wrong, but at this point I'm just going to resign myself to an even longer wait. :(

I could honestly see the GNex being released on the 10th, or at very least the pre-order, as was originally stated.

The Razr internal leaks are now showing the 10th date for release. It is expected that the HTC Rezound will also release on the 10th after being announced on this thursday (the 3rd).

It would make sense that the release would coincide with those since the original MAP shows the release date for the Rezound and the GNex being the same and the pre-order date was spot on for the Razr.

AND they want to prove that the Nexus will not sell well, so they don't feel obligated to repeat this in the future. Hence the extraordinary need for us to sell out their pre-orders and set aside funds for it in-store. Otherwise THEY WIN.

This argument that they want to sabotage the SGN doesn't make sense to me. They apparently went out of their way to get it in the first place. Why in the world would they now want to do everything in their power to make it fail so they don't do it again?

I think this may just be an unfortunate situation where all 3 phones were finished testing and ready for release at the same time and they realize they need to get them on the market as fast as possible before the hardware is dated which happens very fast in the phone world.

how about a midnight thursday night/friday morning launch on black friday!!! get all of out there at that time of night standing in one of many of the lines that will be out at that time?

Kellex tweeted a rumor that RAZR is launching on the 10th, ReHound on the 14th, and SGN on the 17th! The first of three predictions has just come true. We shall see what HTC and Verizon announce on the 13th. If they say it releases on the 14th, which is a highly unusual date, then it follows that Kellex is right about the SGN as well.

:D
Methinks you are mistaking Kellex for a more reliable source...the renowned ZULTAN! Maybe someone will get you one for Halloween?

Personally, I get the feeling that VZW doesn't really care for the android devices. As soon I log on to my account, the very first screen is to get an Iphone. Next to my account summary where my current phone info is located, there is a small link to get an iphone again. You do a smartphone search and what are the first 3 or 4 phones listed? Iphones....

We are all speculating VZW's strategic plan on releasing these new phones as if there is a genius masterplan behind it but the joke might be on us as Verizon might have some crazy unrelated reason (re-carpeting their offices or something) and therefore they can't be bothered with these Android devices..... Just my speculation based on customer experience....

I'd like a 2nd opinion from the OTHER attorney in the forum (calling husker). I'd point out that the serial killer has control over the outcome of the calls (assuming he's the one doing the killing, you didn't specify) and thus a cop could rightly assume that Person C's goose is cooked.

However, Kellex is getting information from someone that may or may not have direct control over the quality of the information. KELLEX isn't releasing the phones on those dates...:)

it all depends on the sources. H.Lo's rationale has some logic to it, but burntorange makes a good point, as well - as far as who is controlling the outcome. here, Kellex doesn't control the outcome (release dates), so H.Lo's example doesn't completely hold up.

using the serial killer analogy, if a single informant calls the police and says that bodies are going to start dropping on Mon, Wed, and Fri; and someone is killed on Mon and Wed, then it makes sense to say that something will happen on Fri. but, if 3 different informants call in, just because the Mon and Wed informants were correct, that doesn't give the Fri informant any more weight or credibility.

same here: if Kellex is getting his info from a single source, then a prediction for the 17th would seem likely, if the 10th and 14th turn out correct. but, if he's getting these potential dates from different sources, then the 17th prediction doesn't carry any more weight or credibility.

Exactly my thoughts. Why bother and go trough all the troubles just to FAIL sales.

I have a feeling this can be remedied with a custom ROM, perhaps CM9? With the phone being presumebly released with an unloacked bootloader and the source code being released by Google, I would think it would be safe to assume that we can expect some pretty cool things to be released and the possibilities could be endless. I can already think that devs would try to add wall paper support to that bottom portion instead of it just being black, maybe change the buttons there, make the "dock" scrollable with more button options, hidden button options maybe?

Here's taking the conspiracy theories one step further...as I recall, the Nov. 3rd announcement is just an HTC event. Verizon is not mentioned on the invite. We all believe this will be for the Rezound, but could Verizon be absent for the same reason they were absent from the G-Nex unveiling (read: because they didn't have their release worked out)? Perhaps VZ really still has no idea what to do about the Rezound and the G-Nex wanting to come out at the same time and so their silence on the issue is because they are still trying to figure out how to do it. One of BMX's tweet said the G-Nex release date was "under review," not "pushed back 1 week with a now-solid release date"...maybe HTC is going to announce their Rezound with or without VZ so they can start building up hype before it launches whenever VZ decides to commit to some dates.

Yuck! What an awful prediction! Even if true, I would not want to give voice to such thoughts... ;)

I'm wondering if VZW mistakenly thought they would be able to load the GNex up with their bloat the way they do other phones, and now are regretting their decision to carry this phone at all. As I recall (don't feel like wading through pages and pages of posts) "the source" indicated that there were some problems between VZW and Samsung/Google around the end of September over things that VZW weren't able to control on the GNex, and that had those issues come up sooner, it may have been a deal breaker for even carrying the phone.

It sounds to me like VZW wasn't able to have everything their way with the GNex, being that it's a Nexus device, and as a result they're giving priority to devices with VZW bloat (which "the source" also said), and thus are going out of their way to FAIL sales.

I dunno, just a thought.

Do you think it possible that VZW launches both phones on the 10th?

You really don't ever stop with the conspiracy theories do you?

Did you know that Verizon was under no obligation to carry this thing in the first place?

They decided to carry it, and their was clearly a reason for that. They're not going to INTENTIONALLY SABOTAGE this device to prove a point. They're in the business of selling phones. They will have their entire lineup for the holiday season released before Black Friday.

I believe the fight was over NSF clients Isis (Verizon) and Google Wallet. I would imagine the powers that be didn't take NSF into account in hammering out the original deal because it's so new. So VZ probably wanted to lock the NSF to Isis, or at least make it pre-installed, and Google said "No". Then Verizon hissy-fit commenced and probably continues to some degree.

Edit: That said, I don't believe VZ would do anything to tank the device...they just don't want to go out of their way to promote it. Some in corporate are feeling rick rolled by Goog/Sammy, whether that's fair or not.
