Why all the "hate" on here for the Rezound? I've seen it repeatedly referred to with derogatory names. Typical post says something like "RAZR and *ound", where * is equal to ReH, CrapH, etc. I don't see the same treatment of the RAZR. I don't get it. If I am unable to get the GNex, that one's my first choice.

I think most of the "hate" is towards the name and not the device itself. Personally, I can't stand the name. Vigor sounded so much better than Rezound.

Doesnt really matter, even the folks at the store can preorder it for you (and they get credit for the sale)..you still get the email when it has shipped but youre in the dark till you get the email...so if you know someone in a store by all means get them a commission...I tend to as well, especially since the manager friend lets me upgrade 8 months early on a regular basis.

If the pre-ordering starts at a time when my local store is open then I will definitely do that. If it starts sometime after hours I will probably call because I want to be one of the first in line, especially with all of this talk about supply problems.

Well, when I do it, it's based only on the horrendous name, not the phone. RAZR is okay, that's why I don't call it anything derogatory. But whoever came up with "Rezound" (**shiver**) should be fired.

I'm just not jumping on the panic wagon because I have no idea who is feeding him this info.
He got it off the net. That "rumor" never took off. Can't remember where I read or saw that but it was mentioned somewhere. It was obscure.

He's playing it carefully and smart....

He's well informed but no insider. In my opinion

Probably all the issues with the thunderbolt and how they failed to update it until months after and when they did update it it was filled with bugs.

Ah.

The Sprint Method.

Not sure what Sprint method is, but I think the general expectations of VZW Nexus demand have been underestimated in general. I am doubting a supply chain issue so much as the complexities you talk about tend to me that when initial demand if underestimated and launch supply is lacking the supply chain has zero means of correcting for such a thing in a timely way, particularly if demand sustains past launch despite annoyance with availability. The Asus Transformer was a great example. I don't think they even had their supply chain on that thing planned out for anywhere near the volume they ended up needing to ramp to so availability was spotty at best for months.

I was wondering what was causing any supply issue. With the Droid Incredible it was the lack of Amoled screens coming out of Samsung. I'm at a loss to figure out where the supply issue problem is, in this situation.

Yeah I'm at a loss too which is why I'm switching to optimism mode. I think they failed to realize the number of users that want this phone. They put out that sign up page to feel things out and were freakin amazed at the response. They thought our thread was just a microchasm of Android users leaning on the techy side that just spun out of control but didn't represent reality. Now they are realizing there is a very high demand for a Google/Nexus phone on the Verizon network and they're scratching their heads and backpeddling on the production end because they weren't planning on it being such a hit. I kinda think that would be best case scenario.

Worst case is a shortage of a hardware item which I think could take longer to resolve. Gotta remember the 4460 had a shortage problem already ala the Archos tablet debacle.

Just because someone signed up for more info about something doesn't necessarily translate into sales of said item. The phones were probably expected to be in Verizon's hands by now (hence the signup page) but some sort of supply problem means they are still on the water somewhere on The Slow Boat From China. They could be waiting for back covers for all we know. And if it's a manufacturing problem, we'd be lucky to see the phone before the year is out.

Not trying to be doom and gloom, but I see this exact same scenario play out over and over on the radio-controlled airplane/heli boards I frequent. The new and hot product is almost always delayed because it hits the water late due to some manufacturing and/or supply problem.

Me personally? I'd much rather wait however long it takes to get it right than have it rushed into my hands only to have purchased an expensive and buggy POS. I'm thankful that I'm in a situation to where I WANT to upgrade, not that I HAVE to uprgrade. So I'm fine with waiting a little longer so the final kinks are (hopefully) worked out.

Exactly or just open up preorders on the site without saying anything sort of how they did with the droid 3. I mean all the people that signed up for info most likely all wont purchase or wont purchase from the start. No reason to sit on the stock you have, you aren't making money off them sitting in the warehouse.

Maybe the problem is that they aren't in the warehouse yet?

The hands-on posted on Phandroid earlier did look super tempting, but... I don't know if I could live with myself for buying a gingerbread device just one or two or even a few weeks before a device running ICS came out. Plus HTC isn't actually renowned (ahem, rezound) for their devices' thinness either...

No matter how long it takes, I'm sticking with the Nexus (and not because I want to spite Verizon or anything, the SGN is simply the best option).

Until a few weeks ago I was dead set on the next HTC device (except the Rhyme). Then I discovered this thread, then watched ICS unveiled. Now I'm hooked and can't imagine something with a skin and bloat.

Personally I hate what they named it. Vigor was so much better

This is starting to push me closer to the Vigor / Re-Hound.

As we trudge onward there will be those who stumble and exit swiftly into the awaiting jaws of bitter sweet relief only to reflect and bask in their remorse of how it could have been.

I agree. The name is just stupid.

I'm coming off a TP2 that is barely functioning, so pretty much any phone is going to be a big step up for me. My wife just got a DInc2 and it's a nice device. I do want an ICS phone, but going from a WM phone to any Android is going to be huge for me, and the Vigor is looking sweet.

We'll see. I'll probably wait until they are both out so I can play with 'em in the store and make my decision at that point...if the GNex is ever released, that is. Grrr.

I dont think there would be much remorse for those who go with razr or rezound. Both will get ics and both can be rooted. People put too much into it being a nexus and being perfect. It will most likely have more bugs than normal since its a new os and well every phone has bugs and the nexus line is no exception.

It will be interesting to see how VZW handles this situation if indeed there is a shortage of a part or parts for the GNex.

I was there for the DInc shortage and this one can play out very differently. The main difference being that for the DInc, it was the only kick ass android phone out and no other phone being even close to being released with similar specs or better. If I'm not wrong, the next phones to come out were the EVO and DX but that didn't happen for months later.

With the GNex, there are already 2 other phones that can be substitutes to people that are not willing to play the waiting game. And even if one decides to wait, who knows how many new models will come out by the time they are able to fulfill the shortage given the rate of new android phones coming out nowadays.

Exact same boat as you. My TP2's screen only turns on when it wants to and if I slide out the keyboard, the whole thing freezes up and I have to do a battery pull...

So yeah, I would probably even take an OG Incredible over what I have now... Still, though, I'll grit my teeth and bear it until the Nexus gets here, whenever that may be.

I have no doubts that the RAZR will get ICS 'fairly' quickly. I do not put much stock in HTC/VZW updates any longer. The failed attempt to go to Gingerbread on the DInc and TB made me lose faith. So I think people going to the Vigor might be waiting a lot longer. I hope for their sake I'm completely wrong though.

All very true. Now people have many more choices and while the diehards probably won't leap from the Nexus boat some that were on the fence already may decide it's not worth the wait.

You say that now but you would be the first one posting on here crying about how they should have waited to fix the bugs before hand.

No...... I got the OG Droid and never cried. And now that you said that I will have to wait until 2nd.:p

Flame on, Tell me I am crazy but here is what I believe. VZW does make bloat filled devices a priority and they want to maximize Razr and Rezound or Resound (what ever)
sales . If that is the case we may not see the Gnex until after the return window for the other two are up.

To me this means :( I am really getting sick of VZW's high priced contracts and megalomaniac personality.

True, but with historical data they can come up with a pretty good estimate. For example, if they had a signup page for phones X and Y, and X had a 30% sales ratio and Y had a 35% sales ratio, then they can estimate that 30-35% of the number of people who signed up will buy the phone for which they signed up.

Well for the htc I meant they could root and get it that way. HTC does suck with updates especially with how they tried to do the tb.

Good to see someone in the same boat. I pretty much have to use a hammer to get my screen to respond, and about every other website I visit crashes the phone.

The GNex has a disadvantage of being a very large device. I really don't need a 4.65" screen, but the zero-lag camera is definitely a huge plus. This is going to be a very difficult decision for me.

PS: As a Colorado Rockies season ticket holder, my most-used app is my G-Force baseball score keeping app. Is there a good Android score keeping app out there?
