***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

The release date is very easy to figure out, once you do the math.

If you take the name Samsung Galaxy Nexus, multiply that by Verizon's name, then take that and multiply it by Google. Now take that number and multiply it by 3 because this is the 3rd generation of the Nexus line, but now divide the new number by 2 since this is only the second Nexus Samsung has built. Take that number and subtract the 17th because that is simply when others will get the Nexus. Now add the number of letters in Android and don't forget to give everyone a +1 for the Holiday and you will have the release date of the Galaxy Nexus.

Comparison: Galaxy Nexus vs. DROID RAZR vs. HTC Rezound - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

I know off from release date but still its nice to see all the info in once place.

Edit: I don't mind the wait, I just wish we would get a firm date so I don't have to keep wondering and refreshing this thread ever 5 mins. Not that I mind the distraction from work!

I noticed something in this comparison. The SGN is actually HEAVIER than the RAZR. A lot of comparisons say the RAZR has a "heavy" build quality but the SGN is light in the hands...

^^ Brilliant. This is why I love OTD.

I know all are bummed, but look at it like this, at least you know you are getting the phone....the rest of us who need phones like this to be subsidized by their carrier will probably not get this phone until Jan or Feb. By this time, if we get this phone, we will not feel like we're getting a top of the line phone, we'll feel like people who got the BIONIC for example. Just be glad it's coming to your network, and coming in 2011!!!! trying to be positive!! :-)

Verizon should hire Steven and put him in charge of setting the SGN release date!

and we will have Samsung hire olosnaH so he can threaten lawsuits to every supplier that even thinks about delaying our release. olosnaH could also be responsible to fire any Samsung employees that work to slow.

With a little strategy we could get this thing released rather quickly.

Sweet! It comes out tomorrow, thanks! Heading over to Verizon now to camp out.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus = 18 letters
Verizon = 7 letters
Google = 6 letters

((18 * 7 * 6 * 3) / 2) - 17 + 7 + 1 = 1125

As a side note, both OTD and Steven have blazing red avatars. I get the feeling these two are Verizon employees that are having way too much fun with the kiddies on this forum.

CK.. didn't take it as personal attack. I was concerned about the news having a bad effect on forums, setting off wars.

We can continue this through PM if you wish.
Oh good steven! I think you know where my loyalty lies from our pm exchange a few weeks ago.

and if you don't, re-read my pm to you :)

So it comes out Nov. 25th. Sweet :)

And this is exactly why I am just going to import it from the UK on the 17th. I'm on ATT and I'm pretty sure they are not getting this phone anytime in November or this year for that matter.

I've been waiting for an announcement that other carriers will get it too ever since Verizon took out the word "exclusive" from their Nexus banner but we haven't heard anything. So I'm just gonna import it, I just can't wait anymore.

In my experience, the larger the corporation, the more dysfunctional it is. A delay could just as easily be the result of a couple of executives starting a pissing contest over something trivial. I've seen it happen, and it's pretty pathetic.

It's not just large corporations. I work for a small company (well, our office is small) and there is a constant contest of 'mine's bigger than yours' going on. Unfortunately it usually ends up me being the one to tell them they all lose and to make a decision. (and believe me, decision making is way above my pay scale)

I’m cool with CK, I think he knows that. I tend to gravitate towards argumentative people anyway, which I think is why I became an attorney. My wife is the same way. We need a good, explosive fight once in a while to keep the fires burning.

Lol

Oh geez. I can't even comment.

I think its time for a group hug...

Steven..I'll let you organize it (along with providing the beer..I still remember 300 people in the irc chat room :) )

I was upset I didn't know about the irc chat so I like a group hug idea.

i've been trying to stay away from all the angst. but, the way i look at it, we basically know just about everything we need to at this point, without holding the device in our hands:

1. we know what it looks like
2. we know the size and dimensions
3. we know (essentially) what it's made of
4. we know what it has under the hood
5. we know the OS version, and what it will look like
6. we know it is coming to VZW
7. if the latest leak via DL holds, we know it will be here late Nov or early Dec.

except for the exact time we can hold it in our hands, we know pretty much everything we need to. now, it's just a matter of letting VZW go thru its annoying machinations, and waiting it out for a few weeks. it isn't ideal, but it is what it is - i, for one, am gonna wait it out and not give VZW the satisfaction of knowing that it can get to me.

I know, I was hoping to hear something too....I'm gonna give it till December, but if there is no word by then, I'll get Tmo SGSII....by the way, when you guys talk about "rooting" a phone, does this mean you change the operating system, and get rid of touch wiz or things like that???

I guess what I'm asking is will I ever have a shot of putting stock ICS on my SGS2 if I get one???

Rooting simply means gaining access to the phone's "forbidden" system files so we can alter them, lose bloatware or add features.

"ROMming" or installing custom ROMs is where we change the OS. And custom ROMs are usually stock vanilla Android, without TouchWiz or non-Blur...

It's good that this will be coming after the 19th, because it be:
After my first-ever colonoscopy, which
i put off for three years!:eek::eek:
(TMI warning!)

Thanks....so are there ways of roming a stock version of like ICS on a phone...or is that usually just too risky???

LOL, just had my first one last year....one word of advice though...have your wife take your phone away from you for the drive home afterwards....Mine didn't, and lets just say I had some texts and phone calls I had to do some explaining about after the drugs wore off!!! LOL

dang i'd expect a phone to be released within 2-3 weeks of the announcement seems a bit silly to wait almost a month and a half? by that time all the hype would be gone or moved on....that htc rezound or sgs2 skyrocket is looking more and more tempting now.

The most popular ROMs are stock vanilla and replace the manufacturer UIs. They use the same simple process as any other ROM. I love me some stock Android :)

Agreed, that's all I've ever known or want to know...first smartphone was the N1....is there a website that gives really good instructions or dedicated to roming your phone??? I figure I may start doing some research.
