Dying here! Love that!

Cracking up again...hadn't seen that in a while. We need to update it with a 4gs vs. Nexus...although I'm sure many think 4gs means 4g+speed or 4g+siri anyway would love to send it again to my isheep friends...who still don't have true 4g and will probably not before Android 5.0 is available;)

Dying here! Love that!

I can't blame the HTC hate around here, I'll just repeat that Verizon seems to mismanage their phone specs with them. Case in point - the Rezound with HD has a smaller battery than my qHD 3vo.

But Gnexers can finally understand the sanguine attitude of those coming from Sprint - our phones printed money and turned into island hopping jets!

Jah, mon! :D ;)

So I'm at BJ's tonight with the kids (BJ's is a wholesale club like Sams or Costco, for those who's minds may start to wander).

Unlike Costco, they have Verizon owned store Kiosks in them, but you also get some deals that the traditional Verizon stores don't get. Anyway....I'm lurking around, looking at the Bionic and other devices, and was going to start some chit-chat with the Verizon guy if there was any info on the GNex. But he was busy with a customer interested in the iPhone4S. To my surprise, the Verizon guy was trying to talk the customer out of the iPhone, steering him towards 4G phones.

The customer was arguing with him, telling him the iPhone was 4G. It had to be 4G, because it was an iPhone 4. He was saying that Apple didn't put 4 on it if it wasn't 4G. Apple knows what they are doing, and wouldn't put a 4 on it if it wasn't 4G. The 4 means 4G, and if the Verizon guy knew anything, he'd know that's why apple put a 4 on it. 4 means 4G. And the reason they didn't come out with an iPhone5 was that 5G service isn't available yet, but it will be next year when they come out with the iPhone5.

Just wanted to share the mindset that the clueless customer has. Not only do they believe things like that, but he also thought the world revolved around apple and that 5G service would only be available when they came out with the iPhone5.

After a few minutes of watching that unfold, I had to split. The Verizon guy gave me the look like he wanted out too.

are you telling me the SGN isn't 5G?

And granted 3 wishes. I'm jealous. :p:rolleyes:

Mismanaged may be an understatement. I about fell over when the release today said it would be ICS ready.... They can't even get people off Froyo without problems

Tytan... Welcome aboard and thank you for the mention.

Today's news is making it hard to keep up. I leave work and get the kiddos fed and in bed and I'm a few hundred posts behind.

As far as rooting, I think I will enjoy that vanilla goodness until I have a reason to root.

A very good gnex day... This thread needed it!

Breaking silence as a long time lurker (Hooray Release Date!) my current lineup would be:

Note > Nexus > SGII > Razr > Rezound

(Bold to emphasize relative size)

As one who has not yet adopted a tablet the Note would be pretty cool if I could go back to the days of the Moto Brick Phone that I did actually try to carry in my pocket (dating myself for sure)...The EQ Processor the display (both good and bad) along with the micro-SD slot and big battery sound great......but Stephen58 sealed the deal for me with his ICS review that he linked...brought back great memories from the Sam/Goog event...(what a chat room); ICS early is the Nexus have to have for me and none of the competitors come close to 11/17...anyway my days of lurking are over...just playing catch-up after a 5 day cruise down to Cozumel...I had my final straw with Sprint and a good reason to break away to VZ and real 4G...this is from my actual MySprint site:

That was all thanks to you folks on this incredible thread...just had to check in while roaming. While there are too many to thank...I'll try:

(still correcting anyone I missed...sure there are many more, perhaps I will use the Gnex's holographic text to speech to phandroid interface - I'm sure this will match one of Hans future search stings on his Gnex!)

There are many more that I have missed and appreciated...Thx again!

Oh and one more question to the VZ veterans - I will obviously not have the unlimited data that you all rightfully covet...I use way more data on my phone than calls or text so I was thinking of going with the 39.99 voice (use google voice and group me for texting) and the 50.00 or 70.00 data...my company has a 100$ max that they will pay for cell service...do I need to pay for the hotspot add on (I use it often with Sprint...I like to work from the golf course on my netbook)...will I be able to get the additional data with a root and a free hotspot, or should I just bite the bullet and pay the surcharge (although VZ is still better than the 30 dollar add-on I am paying sprint).

Thx again to all, cant wait till the 17th!

Lmao. You shouldve stepped in to help the verizon guy out.

I love watching train wrecks like that, but I feel bad for those involved. I would have point the Verizon rep to notalwaysright.com.

I would not have been able to stand quietly for that one. The poor guy at BJ's/Verizon was probably dying trying to be nice.

Had the kids with me, so I try to lead by example. While I don't mind stepping in to help out, and often do, I've learned that you really can't help someone who doesn't have a clue, but thinks they do. This guy also had the trifecta of also being a total beligerant dbag.

If the kids weren't there, I probably would have spoke up though.

God bless hard working sales reps, everywhere.

I may not always need them for product knowledge, but I often need them to explain or smooth a deal for me. I don't mind ever paying a buck extra over mail order to give a well-earned commission.

This iPhone 4G business - reminds me of three things:

First, I was surprised by this summer's statistic that lots of iPhone owners thought that. A big percentage.

Second, that this is incurable. This morning while moderating Phandroid, I had to break up a RAZR/Gnex fight because - I am not making this up - one of them was hiding that the SAMOLED Advanced screen was actually trade named SAMOLED Minus. For minus the PenTile and that made it better than SAMOLED +.

Finally - every Evo owner knows that against the iPhone, it's all about the geebees, and I will leave it to someone else to post the vid if they want (thanks in advance for an NSFW behind a hide ;)).

That was exactly my first thought, the GeeBees video. Great minds think alike.

Wonderful thanks! I've heard good things about Seidio, but I've never had one.

I had a Seidio case on my blackberry, and loved it. It had a keyboard cover that got loose over time, and Seidio even sent me a replacement free of charge when I emailed them. Excellent customer service from them.

So far for everything but phones. I'm sure that will eventually happen too though.

A company can't hemmorage money every year, charge thier customers less, and expect to stay in business. All those people who rag on Verizon about thier prices will find out soon enough.

Sprint just gave thier future earnings to Apple. The tethered data will only be the first to go. And not only that, it's by far the most expensive tethering plan there is.

How did you not manage to burst out in fits of laughter?

can you point me in the direction of this circumstantial evidence? i stepped out for 2 hours and now I'm way behind!

Note to Steven - maybe a good idea to start putting thread links in when you update the OP. Could prove helpful.

Needz - not self promoting, but things broke open quickly after my good morning post, here. Barring better links, please check for news shortly after this -
