Guys/Gals,

We need to stop arguing amongst ourselves. We need to bring the fight to Verizon. We can have a bigger voice to Verizon via Twitter and Email. Check these out

Let's get a response from the ultimate source (no offense Steven)

It's a good idea, but tweets like

@VerizonWireless When can I get a Galaxy Nexus you f***ers?! [asterisks mine]

make me want to disassociate myself from the movement entirely.

I agree. If we could keep it respectful and presentable, I think it would not only show the quality of the forum, but help with the cause. Which is the SGN

Verizon confirmed last week that the Galaxy Nexus would appear before the end of 2011. This is the first carrier in the United Sates to sign on officially for the Android 4.0 handset. Few other details were also provided, other than the release date.
Shipping of the Galaxy Nexus is believed to happen on the 10th of November for $300 with a contract.

So which is it? End of year (December) or Nov 10th?!?!?

I'd be pulling my hair out of my head wasnt shaved!!!

One positive thing about delaying the nexus is it seems the other carriers are feeling pressured to step up their game with updating devices. Motorola was quick to announce that the RAZR would be getting ICS ASAP, and VZ/HTC even billed the rezound as "ICS-ready". I know a lot of that is marketing, but having a stock Google device broadly available seems to be pushing the manufactures. The only problem is they are releasing so many phones most of them will have a short upgrade lifespan. But still, I've noticed how vocal the oems have been about assuring the public their devices will be upgrading. Seems like an improvement to me.

True but I still am skeptical if this means it will be pure vanilla ICS. I think they will push ICS but leave in blur, sense, etc. As apk launchers.

That article says it starts shipping on the Nov 10th? LOL Based on what???

Speculation. :D

yeah it's wackness. I google the nex multiple times through the day and see the same old nonsensical dribble from less and less reputable websites.

they take a little bit of this and a little bit of that known and rumored information and write themselves an article.

Yep, almost a certainty. And per the interview with Google posted pages back here, Google is ok with that.

I'm looking forward to ICS with Sense on my 3vo - for me, that's just more choice.

The vanilla Android phones of the past did not sell well. If they had, then that's what the makers would likely embrace to a greater degree.

Right now, it's about differentiation and choice - and I'm all for choice.

I think the ICS/Sense integration is going to be very interesting. Sense is more than a launcher, it's an app integration scheme, much like a part of ICS is - so putting those two together without collisions should prove interesting. (Although - if drop Sense 3 for Sense 3.5 (aka Sense Zero) on my phone, I may or not accept the upgrade.)

In any case - people who care most about the stock Android experience that don't / couldn't buy a vanilla phone tend to root and get some AOSP rom, don't they?

Agreed sense and the others definitely have their pluses and minuses I was just stating ICS yes but probably not pure if that's what you're looking for.

Long-time lurker (since early September anyway..) on this thread, first time poster. Like many here, I've been patiently (for the most part anyway..) waiting for this phone since the SGII was dropped by Verizon in anticipation of the Nexus to replace my beloved original Droid (the second, first died when the 5 year old daughter of a cousin decided the fish needed to talk to grandma too) that died back in March when the digitizer went psycho. I have a Droid X at the moment, it's nice.. but has some issues with random reboots.

So basically I've been looking at the 4G phones since they were first announced as the faster internet connection would be very handy for me work-wise. Originally thought the Bionic was going to be my first one - loved the idea of the laptop dock but even before it was delayed the first time I kinda soured on Motorola phones (probably due to my second OG Droid and X not holding a candle to my first OG Droid). Not really enamored of HTC's battery life issues, so that left Samsung and LG if I wanted to stick with Android or gritting my teeth and joining the iClone army. Was quite happy to hear about the Nexus Prime on Verizon - bonus was it would have Ice Cream Sandwich and the super sweet HD screen.

I looked at the rumors and blurry cam shots of the other phones as well as the Prime (best name ever), but really they didn't do much for me. I think I may be the only person who thinks the RAZR is just a mess to look at, not to mention it's another Moto phone with 'not blur'. Sure I can root it some day to fix the bloatware, but why should I have to do that - especially with a phone I don't like the look of to begin with.

While I know some of you can't wait much longer for the phone, I just have to say hang in there. I know it's been a bit of a slog filled with highs and lows (and the lows lately have been subterranean) but why settle for something you already know you don't want? We all get worked up by the hype/rumor mill to the point we get absolutely crushed when contrary information comes out to what we believe. Everything about a release date is pure speculation - always has been - beyond Verizon saying it would come out later this year.

When I look at all of the positives in favor of the Galaxy Nexus, they far outweigh the negatives of knowing when it will release. The release date doesn't really matter.. because I know the day it releases I'll have one in my hands. It's got everything I need, sure some of the specs could have been better but overall the internals are solid.

In short, in the immortal words of John 'Bluto' Blutarsky:

"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!"

Hang in there folks, the wait may be excruciating at times but the reward is a Galaxy Nexus.

On October 27th I registered for SGN information updates @ Verizon. It's been 13 days, let's check my mailbox...Zilch! I guess I'll just stay UNiformed.
