Good morning, everyone! After reading Phandroid's article on the new Asus Prime tablet coming out, I've gotta say I'm very tempted to spend my SGN money on that, instead. That is one sweet looking tablet, and it will have ICS in early December!

Gotta get a new phone either way. You're in the same boat I am: "Dying OG Droid".

Agreed though, the Asus Prime looks oh so nice.

What I don't understand is how they can be so absolutely certain of this. If the source code hasn't been released yet, and the phone that is the first to have ICS isn't out yet doesn't that mean that they are possibly setting themselves up to look quite silly?

I think it's a guesstimate. The latest that SGN will come out is probably early December, so they'd expect it to be available almost immediately thereafter. It's probably 3.2 Honeycomb unskinned. Given that ICS is sitting and ready to be shipped, I'm sure it'd be a very easy OTA update.

Seriously, that is one sick device. 12 hours of HD playback? Quad core with a hidden 5th core for lower power consumption? Ports up the wazoo, with a keyboard dock being only $150? Compatibility with the most popular video game controllers? ICS confirmed for this year?

I'm actually serious when I say I'm considering going with this and living with my OG Droid a little longer. The thing that draws me the most to the SGN is the fact that it's got ICS, and an HD screen. This will be the same, only bigger. And when I get around to finally getting the SGN, it will be on sale! Or I can just wait til the Tegra 3 makes its way to phones next year, bringing its better battery life to the phone arena.

Hmmm. . .interesting. . . .

True, although mine is dying more in the sense that it's been sentenced to death. It's frozen up a couple of times, but nothing major. Still running good.

It may just get a reprieve. . .

I was waiting for the Xoom 2 but the Asus looks pretty nice. Xoom 2 is going to get ICS fairly quick too, right?

@Han...you need to go crash the party and do some recon for Android Forums!

I have news:

My Verizon account manager stopped in for a visit yesterday to discuss our new contract and phone purchases.

On Thursday and Friday he will be at an internal Verizon event in Chicago where the employees are being shown the new holiday phones. He is going to fill me in next week because he knows we are waiting on the nexus but I imagine all the news should be on the web Thursday or Friday night.

Cheers!

If I decide to stay with Verizon I've decide the wife is getting a Nexus too whether she likes it or not and I'm setting up that phone usage feature on both so we can monitor data and such. It's ridiculous how close we both stay to the limits of some of the lower plans on data and messaging. Wife has stayed under 200MB of data for several months but one month she went above it by 50MB. Texting is the same way, we both stay around 250-300.

Let us know how uncomfortable you are sleeping in the dog house when you make this announcement. :p

The Transformer is extremely cool, but for me, I use my phone probably 4-5 hours per day, I use my tablet maybe 1 hour per week. I just have no use for a tablet when we have 2 laptops sitting around. I know people are different and you may be one of the ones that would use a tablet as a primary. I've tried to reason out a way to justify getting a tablet and even thought at one point I would go back to a "dumb phone" and get a tablet with a data plan...just couldn't justify it. Would you use the phone or a tablet more?

AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...I'm gonna sell my Ipad, and get one also. Heck I'm on Tmo anyway...so I'm assuming I'll be waiting until Q1 2012 for whatever phone I get, hopefully Gnex, but who knows.

Biggest mistake I made was having my Ipad engraved. Kinda hard to sell it.

I justify all my electronics with 'it could be worse, I could have a drug or alcohol problem'
(and I mean no disrespect to anyone who has either dealt with or has family with either of these problems)

Definitely is an addiction/habbit, whatever you want to call it, but I'm finding ways to break it recently. I'm finding it harder to justify paying for two devices that are basically the same thing, just different sizes. I'm good with my phone for 99% of activities...the other 1% I'm completely ok with having to get a laptop out for it.

They evidently worked with Google and came to a strategic agreement, according to this article. Make of it what you will, this source isn't always reliable, but isn't always a troll site either. Similar stories on the web trace back to this as the initial source.

Asustek delays Transformer Prime to December

Hope this helps - would be very cool if accurate.

Gooooooood morning, Galactic Nexoids!

PS - this will help speed up those new to the Tegra 3 -

Since you asked nicely at called me Han, I just might! I wonder if you'd need official credentials of some kind?

All of those ADAs on Law & Order can just flash their credentials and get in anywhere. Unless the TV is lying to me again, you should be good to go!

I'm just hoping I can get 250 to 300 it is a Ipad1, wifi, 16GB, plus I've never sold anything in my life...but this thing has got me considering it. Hoping I can figure out ebay, but I imagine it's not too bad.

Coach, sent you a PM.

Good point. It will be different for different people. For me, it's kind of a toss up. I would enjoy watching HD movies on a tablet more, but for ebook reading, I'd go with my phone. I do have to admit, though, that I don't use my phone a lot during the day. Mainly just texting and an occasional call. Web surfing and movie watching, at this point, has been mostly on my laptop and TV. I probably use my phone, all combined, a total of 45 minutes a day. (Once I get the SGN, it will be considerably more for a while, but I suspect it will drop back down to normal after a couple of weeks.)

If Verizon decides to release the SGN in December, I think I'll go with the tablet and wait on the SGN until it gets a price drop.

Is anyone else gonna be like this when your new phone (or tablet for the Asus defectors) :D
