***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Talked with my VZW business rep today. Not only did she not know the GN release, but she didn't even know the Resound was already announced for Monday by her own company. And this is someone much more knowledgeable and trained than anyone in store or on web. VZW keeps them ignorant on purpose. They want phones sold today, not next week. They care about a selling lines and branding. Sales reps care about commissions. Consumers are the only ones that care about phones. Bottom line, you'll know the GN release way before any sales reps.

Yes I completely agree.

They did. We have a VZW screen shot that says promote on 11/15 and sell on 11/17.

I was really holding on to this rumor/leak, but I think today broke me. Does it strike anyone as odd that we are now less than a week away from our top rumored release date, and we have 0 credible evidence for this date? Shouldn't the leaks start coming this proximate to a release date? What do we have? We have: a "work in progress" document from a while ago suggesting promotionals on the 15th and a release on the 17th, shortly followed by a suspicious looking counter-argument for a web-only launch on the 21st. We have outdated MAPs listing the 10th for the Rezound and G-Nex (now this date has come and mostly gone, wrong on both counts), and we have The Source who most recently did not confirm the 17th, but instead said he "hadn't heard anything different." Failing to reject a hypothesis is not the same thing as confirming a hypothesis. With the RAZR launching tomorrow (VZ surely will NOT announce anything G-Nex on RAZR launch day), and the Rezound on Monday (again, Verizon surely will NOT announce anything G-Nex on Rezound launch day). That give us Tuesday, two days before our supposed launch without a Cellebrite listing or some other tangible evidence of a launch on the 17th. Sure, we have cases arriving in stores, but as someone else pointed out, stores started getting TBolt accessories a month in advance. It's a good sign, but it's nothing indicative of a 17th launch day. Sure, the Bionic launched on a day's notice. The Bionic was also delayed many, many months and Verizon wanted it OUT so they could sell it ASAP before the RAZR (which they knew was coming a mere 3 months later). Unusual circumstances, probably not a precedent to model for their G-Nex release.

I hate to say it, but I think we're looking at an early December release. I'm guessing Verizon wants to spread out their holiday releases, rather than launch 3 big selling phones within 10 days of each other. They know the Nexus is their trump card, and they're saving it for their final play. Grrrr....

Someone else, please prove me wrong. I desperately want this out on the 17th!

RAZR tomorrow and Rezound on Monday. How is that spread out? That's a weekend. If you don't know something solid a week from now, then jump ship.

Based on Previous evidence, the 17th was assumed to be the most likely date, I don't think there's enough evidence on the negative side of it to make me think it isn't coming out then. If we get to the 15th, and there's still nothing, I'm likely looking for an alternative, but I don't think we've heard anything with enough to push me to any other date.

A couple other people have posted what I'm thinking: it makes sense for VZW to not release any news about the Nexus until after the Razr and Rezound have gone on sale. That's why the 15th makes sense for advertising.

My advice is to wait until the end of the 15th. If there's no word at that point, then the 17th is out, and the 21st is doubtful. (And hey, it's just next Tuesday!)

You can't compare a phone that had all sorts of issues, be it in final testing or with VZW's LTE network to a regular phone release.

Historically, on average, VZW receives accessories about a week before launch.

I think a better indicator would be the Charge since it is a Samsung phone as well. Anyone know when accessories for that showed up?

Also historically on average is the small length of days between official announcement to launch of devices with no preorder period.

Look at announced/released dates:
Samsung Stratosphere specs
Pantech Hotshot specs
Motorola DROID BIONIC specs
Motorola DROID X2 specs

Quiet launch could mean minimal warning time

I think spreading out the releases a few days is more to not overload employees/shipping versus anything else. VZW wants to sell you a line, they really don't care what you use on it.

If you sit back for a minute and let reality set in. You will realize that if you want the Gnex then you will wait. Even if it is released on Dec. 31.
Reality will tell you there is no other phone worth getting right now.:p

The Gnex will be here soon, the clues have been placed for you to use.;)

Ok, let me play devil's advocate for a second. Let's assume worst case scenario it's not coming out on the 17th. It almost has to be out in time for Christmas sales. They'd be stupid to wait to launch it in Q1, barring a technical reason for delaying the launch. So worst case scenario guys, we have to wait until 12/24. Yeah, it'd suck if we had to wait another 6 weeks, but I am willing to wait rather than settle for the RAZR. I haven't kept up on the Rezound specs/info, but I do love my Dinc. Kind of want ICS, though, and I'm weary of HTC's history of poor battery life.

So for me, even if it means waiting until Christmas, I'm still going to suffer until I can get my hands on a SGN. ;)

Whether the G-Nex launches on the 17th or not, I'm getting it. I'm not talking about jumping ship, that would be ridiculous for me. I'm just saying maybe after no firm leak (Cellebrite screen shot, MAP, etc.) today, less than a week to go, I'm thinking it won't happen on the 17th. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

First week of Dec would be absolute worse case scenario barring nothing catastrophic.

It's impossible to prove you wrong, it's also impossible to prove you right. You're going to believe what you're going to believe. You've chosen for no particular reason to go off the deep end.

I'm glad some of you don't follow VZW phone launches regularly or you'd be in a nuthouse by now. This is all SOP.

Edit: This phone was in cellbrite a loonnnnggg time ago.

lets all keep in mind that last week when we were shown that "work in progress" page that was going to be sent out to verizon stores and partners announcing the 17th for the gnex, the tipster also said it would be going out this week, but alas, we are through thursday and as of now we havent heard another peep about it. we still have tomorrow, so if we dont hear anything tomorrow, i think the 17th is definitely out

True. Why send out a flier saying you shouldn't advertise the SGN until the 15th on the 11th or 14th? I'm really hoping the 17th happens, but I'll be patient. I went through this same rigamarole for the HTC incredible launch. As was said, this is SOP for Verizon.

Good news is: the closer we get to Thanksgiving / Black Friday / Cyber Monday, the more things we'll have to distract us from the passage of time. This period of the month has been pure "wait for the Nexus" time and it has nearly stood still. But the later it gets released, the faster time will fly as we'll have more real-life things going on.

Next week ends the long wait. If Nexus comes after the 17th, it will then become a short wait :)
