Yes, this does mean that there is an update in the works that is going to happen. It has been confirmed, it was actually announced within the last 2 months on our Twitter account at
www.twitter.com/htc. At the time there was not a specific date set yet, just early 2010, and the release date is still as yet undefined. While the version number has not been stated yet, it is almost certainly going to be version 2.X as the earlier 1.6 releases were for specifically for different devices. It can take awhile for an update to be made available because first the carrier requests certain specifications that they want incorporated in the update, then HTC developers can work on making the update to those specifications. Once it meets those specifications, Verizon can approve it and it can be released. We want to make sure that the update is as good as it can possibly be, addressing any issues that may have arisen along with creating the best user experience possible. I do realize how frustrating it can be to wait for these things, and we do appreciate your patience very much with this, along with the other Eris owners. The Twitter account I mentioned before is a good place to check the latest news and announcements. Once again, I thank you for your patience with this.
