P3 finished his Gnex review. I enjoyed reading it, it's actually pretty fair and thorough.
He really likes it :D

Galaxy Nexus Review

Well, the one thing I can see is that my go sms will be on it right away. I despise so much white in the apps. Otherwise it looks exciting.

Now that the ReZound is out, I think its time for some promotional materials to leak or some other news info to come forward.

I played with the RAZR this weekend at a Verizon store and it is very thin and wide, but its not terribly awkward at all. I'm not sure what was up with the model I tried, but it kept lagging on me and when I would go to swipe screens (left to right) it would end up pressing an app icon and launching the app. Screen is definitely nice, but I did notice some pixelation on the home screen. Other than that I like the huge screen and it just makes me more and more excited for the SGN.

Who else has a source with info to share?!

Where do you think we'll get the next Galaxy Nexus news (or leak) from? FCC, Verizon, Phandroid, Droid-Life, a "source" here, etc...

I love Phandroid, but I think Droid-Life has been getting better and more frequent updates on leaks for the Galaxy Nexus, so they have my vote.

Hmmm... I just wrote this as its own post in the forum, but it seems topical to share it here with the current conversation. You can see the original here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/445161-verizons-recent-history-launch-dates.html

With the discussions in a handful of threads insisting Verizon is dragging their feet on this Galaxy Nexus launch (and frankly, I don't share this viewpoint), I did a little archive digging through the past year of VZW's LTE & iPhone launches, to establish how Verizon *really* launches products.

This is nothing new, and these various dates have been brought up by others in the mega-thread and elsewhere on the forums, but I wanted to put it all in one place. And I didn't include all the pre-order info.

I see now that Verizon hasn't been as consistent as I thought, but I believe this further confirms that they like to play their product launches close to the vest when they feel it's in their interest.

In the case of Razr vs. Galaxy Nexus, there's clearly an interest in heavily promoting the Razr so I continue to have no reason to think the Nexus is going to get anything but one or two day notice — hopefully in line with Google's worldwide launch date of the 17th. And this falls in line with the epic Thunderbolt / LTE launch — remember how heavily anticipated (and "delayed") that one was?

The Rezound launch is a bit of a paradox in all this — early press release, soft pre-launch, little noise — but as has been pointed out in other threads, it's complicated launching three big phones in such a short span.

It's clear the iPhone launches are handled differently than Android, so we should probably just ignore those dates, although it is an interesting comparison vs. Google.

It's all speculation on my part, but I'm still betting that Google wanted to steal some of Apple's thunder and had planned to have this out in October, in line with the original leaks, but bugs or manufacturing problems conspired to push everything back. And from Verizon's standpoint, they're probably so quiet on this device because they know it's going to market itself (and who cares if they piss a few of us die-hards off? It's not like we're going to jump to AT&T and buy a Skyrocket. :P oops!)

Good Morning GNexers.

1. Congrats to Han, he should know what for.

2. Did the Galaxy Nexus show on the FCC website yet?

3. Welcome to the calm before the storm.

17th,18th, or the 21st are all good, I would hate to have to wait till after Turkey Day.Not that the depression would curb my appetite.

Anyone feel like twitter bombing @VerizonWireless asking about the nexus?

Something like "Where's the #Galaxynexus Verizon!?!?!"

Seemed to work with getting an anouncement.

I think every time they tweet something about the #RAZR we should reply with "Nobody cares! Where is my #Nexus???"

Hey guys, I found this to be pretty interesting and it follows some sound logic.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Twitters Clues to Win Free SG Nexus & Release Date | WIRELESS AND MOBILE NEWS

Google has a 'Galaxy Nexus Challenge' with a possibility to win a free Galaxy Nexus. But the real tidbit of information here is WHEN the contest ends.

"For the Galaxy Nexus Challenge eligibility you must follow @googlenexus, on Twitter. The challenge started, yesterday, November 12 and ends November 21.
...
The current contests are posted at different times during the day to accomodate Nexus fans all over the world. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (PT) on November 21, 2011. So---the Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus may be released on November 21 if Google follows the same timeline as it did before with its Twitter contests."

While I'm a little sad that this clue hints to the phone dropping after our November 17th date, November 21 isn't far off it.

Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm changing my expectation to Monday.

This is an international competition and the phone has already been confirmed to launch on some carriers overseas on the 17th. The timeframe on this competition has no bearing on a Verizon launch.

I don't think that the end date really matters.... It's a global contest and we already know it's launching in Europe before the 21st so I don't really see it meaning anything

I'm not saying it isn't possible for it to actually release the 21st (lots of hints and rumors have been saying as such), but this is a worldwide contest. And the Galaxy Nexus is looking to be released in an lot of countries starting November 17th. I don't think Google's twitter contest will have anything to do with Verizon's release date.

+1 on this! I don't need it on every screen and don't want it at the top of my homepage!

I believe the search bar is on every home screen. And only because there's no dedicated search button anymore (and that's how it is in honeycomb). It looks like it'll be handled contextually now.

Personally, I hope they allow us to remove it and/or reinstate a search button on the home bar.

I thought that too, but in the official rules it state is will take something like 12 weeks to receive the nexus, so I don't think the end date matters much.

But if you read the article, each of the other Nexus phones that have had a twitter contest associated with it, have had a release date coincide with the end of the contest.

From the article:

"There may be another clue in this tasty challenge. Okay let's look at the last "Google Nexus Challenge 2" contest on Twitter, the contest started on April 28 and ended May 8 with winners notified May 11. When was the Google Nexus S released on Sprint? The Google Nexus S was released from Sprint on ta-dah May 8!

The first Google Nexus S contest on Twitter ran from December 7-16 and the Nexus S was available for purchase on December 16 - same date as the contest ended, again."
