I know your pain. I was just having a conversation with someone else about this very topic. If this phone is indeed pushed back well into December (second week or later) I'm going to spend my money on the tablet, buy a cheap replacement phone if my MotoDroid craps out, and sit tight for the quadcore onslaught early next year.

What's the likelihood quads coming out by, let's say a couple weeks after CES for example? Just curious

Am I the only woman on here who feels sorry for those wives who get their husbands' hand-me-down phones? (I'm not sure I got that right grammatically - if one woman gets multiple phones from her multiple husbands, that might not be so bad - except for the multiple husband part.)

I, too, think it's deplorable. But whenever I bring that up in here, I get some version of "Hey, I'm paying for their service!" or "Eh, they don't know the difference."

If I could roll my eyes I would, but the app doesn't have that feature.

Wellll, both of us got Droids just after the launch. She has yet to ever change her wallpaper and has probably downloaded maybe 10 apps
I think she'll be just fine with the Bionic :D

Not a clue. Haven't done enough research on that. That's why I'll tough it out on the Droid (though its beginning to become very very frustrating) and make a decision when it finally dies to get the phone of my choice (Nexus) or a cheap phone to wait it out til the next crop of elite phones land.

Edit: I know I sort of contradicted myself there. What I mean is that if it finally becomes unusable very soon I'll be forced to make a decision. If it lasts longer than I expect (hopefully using it less will prolong the life because I'll have a tablet around to play with) I'll be better positioned to spend more money; hence a Nexus, high-end at that time, or if quads are honestly right around the corner-- a cheap phone to get me through. Hope that makes sense.

Husker, what "e-mail app sucks"??????

please don't say the stock android one on the Gnex. that was my biggest concern. My phone is for work and I'm coming from all HTC-Sense phones. their Calender and E-mail apps CAN'T be beat. but I'm praying the ICS ones are similar?

do you know for sure the ICS one sucks?

i don't know that anyone can comment on the ICS stock e-mail app. however, thus far the stock e-mail app on android has fallen far short of meeting my needs. i haven't personally used the Sense email, but my wife has a DInc, and i definitely prefer Touchdown over it.

i use my email exclusively for work. i have about 50 subfolders for each of my cases, and keep those case-related emails in each folder. it's essential to me for keeping track of my cases. Touchdown allows me to choose which subfolders i want to keep synced on my phone, and it organizes the subfolders exactly as i have them on my PC. it also syncs with my work calendar, including all of my tasks and deadlines that i have coming up.

i've tried several different email apps, and imo Touchdown is head and shoulders above the rest for business uses. you can download the regular app for a trial period for free, to see if you like it. i highly recommend checking it out.

as a follow up to the above emails, Amazon app store has the full Touchdown Key on sale for $9.99. i think i paid $20 or $25 for it two years ago - pretty smokin deal if you ask me!

I can't keep using my Droid anymore. If I do, I risk destroying it out of frustration. That's why I bought...er rented....a GS2 from T-Mobile for a short while. Still under Verizon contract till end of Nov. So I'll wait...and wait..and enjoy throughly this GS2. If they screw around and it goes into the first part of the year,I'll probably stop considering the GNex and start looking at the quads coming out. So Verizon waits that long, they're basically screwing Samsungs hottest baby.....big time....

If they are accepting hand-me-down phones, then I don't know what to say about them. Just let my hubby try to give me an hand-me-down anything, especially tech toys.

I don't think so!

Ah, a fine example of the "Eh, they don't know the difference."

Smiley laugh face

This made me laugh because my wife complains about this too. But if she wants to pony up the dough for a new phone, that's fine. Or get a pretty much brand new one for free.

Whelp, gotta sign off for a bit. Actually cooking dinner at home tonight (and yep, I work as a chef for a living, very sad). Just cracked open a bottle of Avec Le Bon Veux from Dupont, my absolute favorite Christmas time beer. Been a crazy day on here but glad to learn some great news.
My wife's OG Droid was starting to crap out on her last night during a call to her dad so she ended up using my Bionic. Said she was happy with it. Thank god, I keep talking trash on it and then she keeps saying "I don't want that phone". I tell her too bad, you're getting it and I'm getting my Nexus! :p

Another reason I follow this thread, never know what info you'll pick up ... I just added that beer to my list to try, Thanks!

It's all good. Women don't know anything about smart phones anyway ;):p

(Waits for BB to come ablazin' at me :D)

If I used my phone for my work email THIS would be the app I would use!

Organization is so vital when you're receiving 100-150 emails a day

My work uses hosted exchange. I don't have an android phone right now. If I buy this now with no phone currently, will amazon store this app on my account for when I do get the nexus?

Shouldn't you be in the kitchen making some sammiches?

Just kidding.

My wife had an Eris she wasn't happy w/ so I got her an Incredible when BB had them for free. She loves it. So my Dinc is going to the boy to use as an "iPod Touch" type device.
