***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Terrible thought... How many VZW employees are there? They might just snap up all the GNexs on their family plans.

Fortunately, with new releases, employees are not allowed to scoop up the new phones. VZW wants enough supply to have on hand for customers during the initial release.

Gnex better be announced soon with firm release date. Seems now we keep losing people to Razr/Rezound everyday. Oh well, this is probably what verizon wants. But I don't want to be victim of their nasty marketing strategy.

Yup, because I don't entirely know how shipments to retail stores/preparations for phone launches work. If Samsung announced that the phones were coming to stores on Friday but employees haven't gotten any sort of indication of such a shipment at the time of the announcement, could they throw a fast one and ship out in one day?

From what BMX (Google source) has said, the phones have been in Verizon's hands for quite awhile so Samsung and Google have no part in the release delay (LOL at this, since it was never promised at all, kinda hard to be delayed), it's all on Verizon's shoulders. Which basically means, we could see this tomorrow, or we could see it December 31st, it just depends on Verizon's whims.

If that's what Verizon wants, they seem to be getting what they want...giving them all the motivation they need to keep on doing what they're doing. :(

I'm not much scared of this as I am of there not being alot of stock and me getting there and finding out they're out of stock.

If it does come out on the 17th, how will we even know if there's no announcement? I guess the only benefit of all this lack of information is that people who don't keep keep searching online for info won't know its released and hopefully this will keep the phone from selling out too fast (if it does).

Why would they do this? Honestly, if they're going to sell the phone on their network they should WANT to sell it. And contrary to what people seem to think, they DO want to sell it. So I'm not sure what the hold-up is, but if your source is telling the truth and Samsung has no part in this any more, I will not like Verizon very much (from a corporate standpoint) :(

Hey all,
I'm the guy on reddit who posted my hands-on experience with a Galaxy Nexus (link). Just thought I'd sign up here and join the discussions. I'm really REALLY hoping that the lady I talked to was right about the release, because I am really getting overly hyped-up over this... But all Verizon employees I've talked to say that they only know about the date once the manufacturer gives a date, and given the leaked inventory screen grab from earlier today, do you think it is at all possible that the phones could be in stores as soon as Friday (or Monday)?

Heya Scott,

I wanted to personally thank you for joining Android Forums and this thread. Glad you're joining in the fun here!

Steven

For a phone like this, I'm sure they'll have an announcement of sorts. Not necessarily a stage presentation or conference, but probably a press release.

Marketing. Plain and simple. The RAZR is the phone they were banking on to carry sales and I would not be surprised if, in addition to all their bloatware on it, they don't get a bigger cut of its sales from Moto than they will from Samsung for the Nexus.

All that said, the RAZR has been a flop and I think they are trying to give it more of an exclusive launch before dropping the Nexus just so they can try to get as much profit out of it as possible.

Are you guys sure you want the nexus?

Looks like my first Samsung phone. Minus the rotary :)

If Verizon keeps this up, they'll lose me as a potential customer. I'm on AT&T right now and have decided to switch to Verizon to get LTE with the Nexus.

With that being said, I'm also thinking about importing the SIM Free international version next week when they become available. Money is not an issue with this, and the international version would work on AT&T HSPA+. Plus, I'd get to keep my unlimited data, have 3G voice/data at the same time, and be able to travel internationally with it.

I'm willing to give all that up for LTE (though perhaps I shouldn't...), but I'm not willing to let Verizon play games with release dates out of principle. Let's see what they do over the next week, but I'm the type of customer they stand to lose over this.

This thread is driving me nuts. Just a bunch of people complaining and whining (which obviously isn't going to change anything BTW) which is quite honestly depressing. I've decided to use google search for my SGN release updates. If it releases on 12/17, it's not going to be the end of the world.

lol some people throwing around the idea of tmobile getting it.

if that were to happen , id go into tmobile order the phone then cancel and pay termination fee and use on my ATT.

cool story bro

enrolled in the rent-a-razr program and passed my thunderbolt down to my sister this afternoon. since i was using her upgrade and she needed a phone ASAP, waiting any longer was simply not an option. i have every intention of switching to the GNex as soon as it is released, but the razr is actually a pretty sweet device. build quality is top notch and the screen looks great. non-removable battery on an LTE device is a serious deal breaker though.

It's very easy to let emotions get the best of you. With all the rumors, official rumors, unofficial rumors, people putting in their two cents (with some plausible theories) it starts to break ones psyche.

I think if we would just get a release date; whether today or next month. It would satisfy a lot of people. The only problem I have with a late December release date: is you know someone will make a badass quadcore phone in the next 2 months.

So, if Verizon is trying to push back the SGN for sales, they may be shooting themselves in the foot by releasing it in late December and i think they know this.

Releasing at the end of the year is now...so.

For those of you really need a phone now and cannot wait, I really would agree with the source and recommend the HTC Rezound. The screen is clearer has more resolution is not as wide and it feels better in the hand. I'm comparing it to the razr by the way. Then when the galaxy nexus comes out you can exercise your option if you feel that the galaxy nexus is an upgrade. You'll just have to pay the $35 restocking fee, of course.

Me? I just got a refurbished droid X in the mail today. It is running so much faster and more smooth than my droid X that am even wondering if I need to upgrade at all.

I see what you did there ;)

or are doing ...

I say tomorrow will be a good day. Today was a pretty good day (mostly because I got 30k :D), but also kind of scary. December release rumors give me sadness.
Hopefully Verizon banishes these foul rumor-demons back to the rumor mill from whence they came, and just give us the date.

Be happy people. We're almost there, probably ;)

Hey Scotty... I think that your mom's student's mom (or something like that) was right on with her Friday statement. But since that post, VZW has decided to delay past Friday (at least in store). Why? Who knows. Hopefully, just a very short delay... like Monday. But other sources have made it sound like it could be as bad a mid to late December.

If it was 2012 instead of 2011 and it was released on 12/17, that would only give you 4 days of fun on the Gnex to the end of the world.(12/21/12):p:rolleyes:

The GNex has to come on Monday. My wife isn't even talking to me anymore. As soon as I came home from work I fired up the laptop (not even worth trying my OG Droid) and have been catching up on the 1,000 posts since last night. Soon as the laptop fired up, she stopped talking to me. She just doesn't get it.
Seriously Verizon - is a few more Razr and Rezound sales worth someone's marriage.

Come on!!!!!!
