I have an incredible and I have that same issue lol

It was ridiculous. I was on a rollercoaster of highs for loving the screen quality and having LTE again amidst a bunch of lows filled with "What the hell??", "Why would somebody do this??", "Where's the bleeping button??", and avoiding rooting it until a surefire way to cleanly unroot comes out. I've got unlimited Shazam tagging and the unlimited Skyfire video plugin on my Droid 2 and i can't port em over without root! Luckily, following the madhouse here is a pleasant distraction. Aside from the fact that cell phones aren't allowed in my office building. ;) The GNex better come out fast because I'm already going into withdrawal from not having a charging dock on a phone!

Sheesh....lots of burst activity.

Will we hit 32k today?

The signs point to yes.

Anyone still think this phone is landing on the 17th lol..?

There's little more satisfying that wagging fingers and shaking your head at a mod - :) - so, I'm sticking to 17th as something big and relevant.

You know - on Sprint - the gold premiere customers got a private emailing with the web address where they could order their new 3D and get it overnighted 3 days before release for everyone.

So - yeah, 17th, could happen.

What's your prediction for the weather in Early's part of the Nether World, Beth?

We're calling for snow! Back to you, Bob!

Why not? I thought it has root until it's rebooted? Who reboots their phone that often?

I did read the whole thing, and I still think that you can't blame this on Google or Samsung. Okay, so the Nexus line hasn't been a success in the past.

BUT, everything that a Nexus "was" has completely been thrown out the window. This Nexus was not designed for a dev niche community. Just look at it.

* Biggest screen on any phone in the U.S.
* 1 of only 2 HD, 720p resolution screens
* Top of the line of available CPU/GPU
* 4G LTE speeds
* "Vanilla" Android is NOT "vanilla" anymore. It is elegant and beautiful
* It's effectively a superior SGSII (best selling phone in the world).

Could Verizon, even with all its stupidity, look at this device and say "Eh, it's just for devs. Let's put it at the bottom of the pile," ???

That's absurd.

I strongly suspect that this will be the best selling phone in the world until quad-cores come out. This will be the SGSII a few times over. BMX is tweeting that UK people are going crazy over it (he's over there as part of his Google job right now).

Verizon is capable of such boneheaded stupidity, as we have seen over and over. I think Verizon is the only one at fault here.

Agree and furthermore... we better enjoy a Nexus phone on VZW now, because I doubt that Google would be stupid enough to "partner" with them again. And with both ATT and Sprint getting LTE next year... even more the reason to tell them to kiss off.

I have to power off my phone daily before entering my office building, sadly. And they want OFF off, not just airplane mode or sleep when avoidable.

Hey, why are we ruling out the 16th, still got a lot of time for Verizon to say preorders are open. Last night a guy mentioned some link tags on the Verizon site changing. I'm unfamiliar with this....anyone care to chime in?

Yep. And I don't think we should rule out the 14th, either. Isn't it possible that they are already on sale online but you need a special password to access it?

Someone want to try?

It could either be numerical, alpha, or a combination of the two.

I do. I switch out batteries rather than actually charge so I reboot at least once a day, sometimes twice. (more when I go on a flashing spree)

Ewwww - I would cry.

Agreed. If there isn't an onslaught of unlocked-bootloader phones on Verizon before my next 2 year contract is up, I strongly suspect the SGN will be my last Verizon phone. They can keep their unlimited data. I don't use over 1GB per month as it is.

I called Verizon last night to ask about the Rezound (and, of course, ask if she had heard anything about the GNex coming out). She didn't even know what the Rezound was...had to check her papers. So of course, she knew nothing of the GNex. I'm getting so frustrated and impatient. My ROGUE sucks big time and is on its last legs and I'm THISCLOSE to ordering a Rezound....but I feel I've waited this long, I can wait another few weeks if I have to.

The longer this drags out, the more money I can put aside for it. I may end up just buying it unsubsidized and go month to month until Verizon pisses me off again, so I don't have to be shackled when I decide to jump off this sinking ship. (And yes, once AT&T extends its 4G network to a large area of the population, Verizon won't have the leverage it does now.)

Something posted on XDA, apparantly via Amazon UK, that may explain the delays:

Some info for you guys... Sammy is receiving UK stock tonight with the latest software on. We be shipping to partner tomorrow, some will have them in the afternoon. Some advise... I'd check the ones in the shops, they may tell you they are locked to o2 or whoever, but you might find they are actually not.
The suggestion is that Google have made last-minute revisions.... take it for what its worth. The original post can be found here.

Fwiw, the local Phones4U store here still expects to be selling the GN tomorrow, albeit to new contract or upgrading customers only, despite having no stock to hand as of 14.30hrs today. The manager's face was a picture when I suggested that he contact his head office about the "Oxford St only" rumour. :D

I'd recommend just buying it subsidized still. If you want to jump ship, you won't be able to use the VZW SGN on any other carrier. With a $350 ETF, you'll still pay a total of approximately $650 if you decide you want out in a few months. Even cheaper if you've got a loyalty discount or the prices are cheaper at a place like Amazon.

Haha, I've been refreshing that page periodically. I check the source occasionally too. Perhaps I'll just whip up a polling application that will notify me when the body of that page contains "nexus" ;)

Not fair. I don't know how to do that. :(

I hate to be the buzz kill... but I think that the marketing calendar that we saw before showing the post-Thanksgiving timeline may become the new reality. I have to believe that "final phase of testing" does not mean 24 hours... but more like 10-14 days (especially at the tortoise-like speeds that VZW execs move). And if they release it in Nov, they will likely pat themselves on the back for breaking their "end of the year" deadline. 11/28 is probably the most realistic "soonest" actual release.

I'd love to be proven wrong with a much sooner release... but it just doesn't make any sense. Either beat the BF rush or don't. But a half-assed semi-release b4 TG that nobody will know about serves them no purpose. Nor does a BF release when everybody is focused on other things (plus, the ads have already been finalized for that).

The Rezound is rooted, but it only lasts until the phone is rebooted. They are still trying to unlock the bootloader and I think S-off is part of that process.

So for now, there's essentially no root b/c even freezing apps when you have root doesn't work b/c they revert back to unfrozen after a reboot.

Mik Mik has gotten thru the lock to S-OFF - screen shots are in the Rezound All Things Root area.

The developer models get rooted, it may take a few days to square away the processes and confirm the exploits for perm root.

Plus - I've not checked HTCdev.com - typically takes a few days after launch to get a phone listed there.

Anyway - earlier this year HTC went to a locked AND encrypted bootloader (shades of Moto). We mounted a petition, they agreed on the unlock for future phones, the future phones came out, the unlock was coming RSN (for you Pournelle fans, real soon now) - and the meantime, devs cracked their encryption.

I had the engineering/development bootloader on my Evo 4G, could have had it on my Evo 3D but still don't feel like bothering - both are S-OFF.

So - the full root tools should be publicly available pretty quickly.

HTC corporate keeps trying to build better mousetraps, but continue to fail to see that the HTC devs that are more like junkyard dogs than mice.

Anyway - if I turn out to be a liar (ummm, fat chance) - HTC has made a public commitment to give out unlock tools upon request, so either way - full root on the Rezound with recovery, just not anything to really lose sleep over.

Plus - if you're considering the Rezound as a stop gap until the Gnex hits - probably best to just enjoy it stock for the few days you'll have it anyways, imo. ;) :)
