That does makes sense, but the only time my phone is in my pocket while listening to music is if it's raining. Otherwise, I'm using it while listening or it's on a dock. All putting the port on the bottom does is force me to be more careful about snagging the cable, be mindful of it not getting in front of the screen, and reduce my cable slack length.

I'm kinda the opposite. It's in the way if it's on the top. The cable drapes in front of the screen occasionally and if it doesn't it could snag on anything that gets in between me and the phone. Had a cyclist snag me once. If the port were on the bottom the cord would have been closer to my body and it wouldn't have happened.

I don't carry my phone in my pocket.

Don't tell me you use a holster? "Just put it in your pocket." ;-)

Two things you can look in to. Google Music and AudioGalaxy. With google music you upload your music and stream from there, with AudioGalaxy you set it up on your home computer and phone and you can stream music on your phone directly from computer at home (obviously it has to be on). Hope this helps! :)

+1 to Audiogalaxy, been using it for over a year now. Use your own PC as your cloud server instead of relying on other services.

Are you holding the phone upside down? Not sure why your headphone cord would be in front of the screen if the port is below it.

Why not? Just because the port is on the bottom doesn't mean the cord will automatically run up the back of the phone instead of along the front. Particulary since I'm usually sitting down with a phone and holding it near or on my lap (meaning I also now have to worry about not resting the phone on the end of the cord and putting pressure the jack) as opposed to close to my face. Also, my JVC earphones don't have a long cord, so it's not convenient. Not insurmountable by any means, but a poor design decision perhaps.

I bought a RAZR on first day 11/11 and really like MotoCast where I don't have to download my music or files on the phone. Is there something similar "cloud based service" in the Marketplace or elsewhere that I can purchase if I decided to return my RAZR for the GNEX?

Pretty sure Zumocast will fit your needs. I don't think it's in the market, but I believe it's what got renamed to MotoCast for the RAZR release. I think you can sideload the Zumocast app, but you might need root first. Look around XDA devs for an apk.

edit: actually it is in the market:

Google music but it takes FOREVER to upload the music to their server. I have been using subsonic, it streams the music from your computer like motocast. There is a free trial for 30 days, after that its only like a one time fee of $13.

Not sure if in the 100's of pages it was ever announced, but it looks like we finally know just how much thicker the verizon version is thanks to that document.

I've played with the RAZR and Rezound, and I honestly think its due to Gingerbread that I have no desire for those. I want something new. Something innovative, and Ice Cream Sandwich + Galaxy Nexus serves it well. So if I have to wait, I'll wait. I do not want any other phone other than this.

So whether it comes out next week or in December, I'll be waiting.

what is the deal with NFC technology? Do two people have to have Galaxy Nexus for it to work? If so, I don't know how useful it will be because not everyone and their mother will have a GN like people have iPhones

Please vzw, come through on Monday! My dinc is rebooting to the white htc screen every time I back out of any app, and it's about to end up in a bunch of pieces against the sidewalk

Also, if I remember hearing correctly, that thickness is based on the thickest part of the phone, which is the hump at the bottom. The rest of the phone will definitely be thinner than the iPhone if that's true.
Tell that to the folks who market the RAZR. They leave out the hump at the top.

the device needs to have NFC, at this point hardly any do. this tech. will probably become more prevalent over the next several years though.

eventually you'll probably be able to:
buy metro tickets
pay for gas
pay for stuff at 7-eleven
etc
