So if this pre-order tomorrow and in-store on Monday is true, I cannot decide if I want to preorder it tomorrow and chance not having it by Tuesday or go to the store early Monday morning before work and pick it up.

What is everyone thinking of that rumor is true?

So I have a final tomorrow morning (Numerical Methods, FUN), and yet I find myself here, looking to see if there is any new news. Pre-order tomorrow is news to me. I will definitely have to check VZW in the morning when I wake up. Hopefully the late crowd doesn't snatch them all up, cause I have got to have a decent night of sleep. Or should I just set my alarm for midnight. AHHH this phone is making me crazy.

Verizon will not sell you a phone knowing you are returning it if you tell them that is your intention to basically rent they will not sell to you that is a pretty strict policy I have seen people run into in person.

not true, i was very open and honest about this when i went to pick up a razr on tuesday. with a dead phone and no GNex release info, i had little choice in the matter. not only did they sell me the phone, they noted that i had until Jan. 9 to return it on my account.

Coincidentally, the Verizon retailer where I live is also right next to a Chipotle (same block of shopping center). Highland Park, IL? Or is Chipotle + Verizon a more common combination than I thought :P

It does seem like a common combo. They are putting up a new strip mall in Berwyn at corner of Cermak and Harlem and both a Chipotle and Verizon are going to be tenants.

Didn't Han do exactly that? I would have to read back a hundred pages or so, but I believe he told that to some CSR manager and the guy sent him a DINC2 or something fully knowing he would return it once he purchased the GNEX.

Have not read the policy, but I think you can return for ANY reason within the allotted time??

edit....I see Solid also did this, or he is who I was thinking of.

Well, its release is not just "soon" anymore. It's more like "imminent". So a pre-order release tomorrow (for arrival on Launch Day Monday) is entirely realistic.

I choose to GO to the store, give them my 4 demands, and walk out with a Nexus. Not willing to take a chance with a pre-order over a holiday weekend.

I'll be ordering online, so I am curious about these issues also.

If it is a "web only" release on Mon/Tue, where would it ship from?

A regional distribution center or a more localized VZW store?

Anyone know the SOP on pre/web orders?

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, welcome to the forums matey. I see this is your second post. Stick around, and don't be shy. We don't mind the eye patch.:D

Reading this thread makes waiting for this phone so much easier. Shame I'll have to wait until 12/29 for my Ice Cream Sandwich while all of you sloppily pig out. :p Small question: How close is this to the DInc thread? I was a little more active in that one than I have been here, alas, college consumes my life.

Also, anyone read The Verge's review? Topolsky seems extremely impressed, and I was kind of caught by surprise. Hasn't he traditionally been an Apple guy, dating back to his days with Engadget? He gave performance and software a 10, and as far as I know the same two categories garnered an 8 and a 9 on the 4S.

Topolsky is a cool cat. He had always hoped Android would get where it is now with ICS.

Well, I called my store and they didn't know anything about this. :(

Which worries me. I would think if they were taking pre-orders tomorrow, the stores would know about it. And if they were getting the phones in 2 business days, they'd also know about that. So are they playing dumb, or did Scott just get lucky when calling his store?

Ugh I can't decide what to do! I want to get the SGN at bestbuy so I can get the replacement plan but am worried about stock not going to the store...so torn on what to do! Thoughts???

IMPORTANT NEWS!

Just got off the phone with my local Verizon store's manager.

I said I had been reading up online regarding the release date and he said that it will be available to pre-order tomorrow and they will have them IN-STORE on Monday. He's an extremely trusted source, accurately confirming the Incredible and Thunderbolt release dates before Verizon announced them, so I trust his word on this. Just to add to the confirmation of these dates! I AM EXCITED BEYOND BELIEF :)

BTW this whole GNex anticipation has gotten in the way of my schoolwork lol. I haven't done my homework for a few nights because I simply can't stop updating reddit/this thread regarding new information o.o

So....... then we can preorder in 6 hours (presuming EST)? Not a very long wait to see if this comes to fruition :)

Hello everybody, I thought I'd come out of the lurk-closet to pass along a little information that I heard today. As with all these other posts, take this with 77 grains of salt. My daughter was making a Chipotle run, and since the Verizon store is right across the street, I asked her to wander in and see if anybody was talking. She was casually checking out Razrs and fruit phones, so naturally one of the associates walked up to her, all ready to sell her something. She mentions that she was really interested in a Nexus, and wondered if he knew when they were going on sale. He told her they were expecting them on Saturday, the 19th. She then asked if Verizon would have made some kind of announcement by now, and he stated probably not, with this phone. Not sure what that even means.

Now, I really pondered whether or not my first post should be a "hey, I know something" kind of post, but I figured it was something to chew on, and you guys have been around long enough to know what this information is worth. Fortunately, it appears that we will soon know something concrete.

Thanks to everybody that contributes to this madness, but I believe it will be worth it.
Really?

So how many people will try to get them to sell you the Galaxy Nexus on Saturday or Sunday if they do get the phones in store on Saturday? I know i will try

Yeah that's a tough one, not sure what I would do either.

Technically there's no need for employees to know when pre-orders begin for a device until they go live, so pre-orders tomorrow seem completely reasonable. Training over the weekend and sales on Monday, looks good to me.

I would assume it'd be 1 day shipping. My experience with 2 day shipping from Amazon gives me hope that UPS or FedEx could manage to get a package delivered in 1 day. It honestly doesn't matter where it ships from, it will go on a plane, fly to somewhere close to you, go on a truck, get delivered somewhere closer and then a guy will give it to you in the morning or afternoon.

Really?

My thoughts exactly. Like I mentioned, I know the employees at my local store very well and they know me very well, so I'm sure I can coax an early GNex out of them fairly easily ;)

So they told you straight up no and still went ahead? That's fine with me, but I wouldn't want to be in your shoes when you're fighting with 10 different csr's to swap out your phone.

Just not a battle I want to fight.

Edit: I'm not saying verizon isn't misguiding people with the way the policy is shown to us. I'm saying our definition, and their definition aren't the same, and you might get problems and have to fight to get your exchange.

Yeah that's how I roll. Seriously, that would worry you? Take a look at the image below ... I'll make it before 14 hopefully anyway, but if not they're taking it back for 35 dollars until January 15,2012 as proven by the receipt ... whether the salesmen know it or not.

And or not is not a surprise with that crew.
