***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hello everyone. I've been lurking for the last week or so and finally decided to start posting. I'm currently upgrading from an OG Droid and this is the first phone that's ever tried to shy me away from a standard QWERTY keyboard. Glad so see so many OG Droid users feel the same way. I really hope this phone does well enough so that we start to see more pure (Vanilla) android phones and little to no bloat.

Quck question: I am on a family plan. If I pre-order do I have to pay for the whole thing in advance? Or can I put $50.00 or whatever down and pay the rest when it is released. Not sure if I want to order online or in store and since I'm a young college student who gets paid bi-weekly, I'm trying not to blow all my paycheck.

You rock schwenger thanks for joining welcome here!

Not sure on your Q, but someone will help soon I'm sure

I almost punched my screen. That made me so angry
...
Anywayyyy...

I'm gonna stop by the Verizon store tomorrow or Saturday (I mean it this time :D) and try my luck and maybe take a peek at the rezound :o
The reps at my store are pretty nice, I've noticed, so it can't hurt to try.

I know how you feel. I'd have a hard time not stepping in and saying something.

a Nexus tablet does sound pretty intriguing. right now, tho, i'm leering/drooling more at the rumored Lenovo quad core/ICS tablet that just popped up recently...

Ya know Kate, I saw that pop up and immediately reacted with an "OOH!". But then thought about the emotional strain I've endured with our current love-device. I quickly spanked myself and reluctantly decided to purchase the ASUS Prime... ya know, since its the most likely to come out very soon.

You can have them put it on your bill ;)

Wait, so the 2-year price for the RAZR/Rezound is $299? So if it shows $249 for me online, that means I DO have the $50 loyalty credit? It doesn't show up anywhere, but I definitely get offered those two phones for $249, not $299. Confused now.

$299 is the 2-year contract price I am shown. I guess 9 years with VZW isn't considered loyal enough...

So earlier this afternoon, Phil Nickinson over at AC posted a thread saying that Nov. 21st looks like the date, with a "B+" certainty.

Not much longer after that, he closed his own thread saying "Whoops, and just like that, it's up in the air again. Sorry folks. Closing this thread down for now"

I wonder what caused him to post it and then almost immediately retract it

Phil is usually pretty careful too...their podcast is tonight if anyone wants to get on and ask the question with me 100 times

Would you recommend this phone for a general user?

IMO, yes definitely. You may read about this phone being ideal for developers, but that doesn't detract from any other use.

Traditionally Google's own phones are prized because they don't have the often sluggish and unwieldy manufacturer user interfaces stuck on top (Blur, TouchWiz, etc). In the case of GNex it has the brand new Android 4.0 operating system that's a lot more polished than earlier releases. So this vanilla phone will be a lot more featureful and pleasant to use than previous vanilla phones.

It also has some reeeeeeealy sweet hardware! :D

Yeah Hans, don't post anything like this Tauntaun:

Dude....what the heck did you make me look at? Ok I need some s-xy avatars from the other "BB" to offset these galaxial images sending my head into a nexus

No - that happens when someone posts a YouTube with either img tags instead of url tags - or posts it with an "embedded player" spec as part of the url - messes up our software, it does. ;)

Sorry, folks are putting youtube videos in the links and it's messing up the formatting. I'm trying to go along and delete them so as to remedy the uneven formatting.

Steven

:D I'm reformatting the links and fixing them. :D

Literally, LOL :D

Awesome, thank you! I have the money but I'd rather not have th drop the full amount when it is released. I was thinking about the Droid 4 (Maserati) but I definitely prefer the lightweight altyernatives to not having a keyboard.

Also, I had a question. Any chance the Galaxy Nexus is announced tonight? I follow @SamsungMobileUS and they posted last night, "If you thought tonight was fun, just wait until tomorrow night!!!" Any thoughts?

Definitely possible. Good catch, this gives us more reason than ever to look for something tonight :D
