If they started a pre-order tonight, it might be a tough call to order with delivery Monday afternoon, or wait to try and pick it up Monday morning in the store. I'm going crazy waiting for this phone. My DX is already misbehaving a lot this week, probably due to jealousy.

call pay the 15 bucks for next day by 9:30 am :) and take off Monday to play with it!

Or preorder Friday could mean a ship date of Monday (receiving on Tuesday)?

hate to bust everyones bubble, but there is no way a pre-order starts at midnight tonight without a previous statement from verizon stating that. best case scenario is an early morning announcement that pre-orders will be starting at xx:xx o'clock tomorrow, or possibly immediately after the announcement

Whats the difference between a authorized store and a corporate store??
Easy to tell the difference. Corporate stores have live working phones and are all Verizon employees.

Authorized resellers have dummy phones (think Wirefly, Amazon, Walmart, Bestbuy, Radio Shack, etc) and thier employess are not Verizon employess, but rather the store where they work.

Corporate stores are authorized to do other things that resellers aren't allowed to, such as move up your upgrade date, etc.

WOW.

Simply...WOW.

I haven't been able to get on here since since 2pm and there have been SO MANY pages added since then!

Some please fill me in on what is going on!!! Please!!!!

DYING OG DROID USERS... AND OTHERS

How will you destroy your current mobile?......

What say you guys?!

My OG's been sitting in the dock next to my bed since I got my DInc. Great alarm clock and a handy little news reader before bed.

I've had quite the phone saga for the past few months - I was working in Europe for a year, got back in Mid-August and started using my old DInc hoping for a VZW SGII.... that went out the door, so I grabbed a bionic on launch day & gave my son the DInc. (which he loves)

I actually used the OG for a couple days after I returned my Bionic but the battery is FUBAR from sitting in the charger 24x7x52

I whipped out an old Eris I had laying around and used that for a few weeks, but after the non-announcement GN gig in HK I "lost it" and got a new one from Assurion. I sold that to a co-worker... (chump)

SO, I currently have my work iP4s and am using the wife's old iP4 until I can get back to an Android. I hate using the iP... it's just not right. Buttons are in dumb places and you have to jump through hoops to do simple things. iJust don't get it....

I would stomp it, but some iSheep will give me $300 for it...

Be back in about 10 minutes, I've got to eat dinner and let my dog out. I've been staring at a screen (this thread) for over an hour now so I seriously need to take a break... So much information inflow!!!

Historically, I'd have to agree.

But this phone release isn't like any before it. Who knows what they'll do.

Also, "authorized stores" will have a different local name: Bob's Wireless or Cellular Authority or something like that. Corporate will simply say Verizon on the front of the building.

Just called my Corporate store and asked about the Galaxy Nexus. I asked to speak to the manager and spoke with Tom. I asked him if he had the Nexus in and if I can stop by and play with it before the 21 and he said no. I asked him does he mean no it's not in or no I can't stop by and play with it. He said he's not allowed to let anyone see it yet. I asked if at any time prior to the 21 it will be available to see. He said to stop by on Sarurday, he expects to be given the go ahead then. I asked if he is sure it will sell on the 21 or if it is going for per-order prior to that and he said he hasn't heard anything about a preorder. He said he doesn't expect that to be necessary. I told him about my phone call to Corporate and how impressed I was with them. I asked again if he was absolutely sure it is going on sale on the 21 and he said yes.

How many phones do you have?

That is like being woken up from the most amazing dream. Thanks a lot!

You guys are making me want to stop by my VZW store. I will feel kind of weird going in 2 days later and asking the same thing. So maybe I will just call them and chime in here with what they say.

Thanks for using 24x7x52 instead of 24/7/365. I always say 52 is correct and makes more sense.

Ah, so we may not even see a pre-order at all? Strange considering the Verizon GNex sign-up page and all, you would think there would be reserved orders for such a hotly anticipated phone but I guess not.

I'm sorry guys.. I just got off the from the Verizon guy.. He called three northeast regional managers and they said the rumor is false but the release date is true...

He also said that perhaps Verizon may say something about pre-release after midnight, and to check back tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see if online plays by the same rules as the physical stores.

Wait, which rumor? Isn't the 21st the rumor? So which release date is true? Or that they have a firm release date now, but have not publicized it yet?

DYING OG DROID USERS... AND OTHERS

How will you destroy your current mobile? I was asked this by a co-worker the other day. We started brainstorming.

ME:
1- Death by machine: The airport I work at is currently having parking lot work done. Having them crush it with their vibrating compactor (or by slamming the bucket of the ditch digger on it. Very aggressive maneuver- would be very satisfying.)

2- Death by suffocation: Bury in cement. Less satisfying... but more like a proper burial.

3- Skeet shooting: Self explanitory.

4- Death by heat: Either boiling with propylene glycol (high pressure spray gun included. Might cost the company a small fortune-- double satisfying.) Or by directly melting with the heating element for the de-icer.

5- Death by fall: Throwing from atop the grain elevator in town.

Of course, before it really became difficult to use, I planned to let my little girl use it as a media player and over wifi. I guess if factory reset and re-rooting help at all I might still go that route.

What say you guys?!

Hah, I like option 3. My OG DROID and I have a love/hate relationship at the moment. The screen goes crazy one moment randomly scrolling and phantomly touching one moment then is fine the next. In all honesty I will end up keeping my DROID. I'm not gonna encase it or anything like that but it will definitely serve as a reminder of an object that saved me from the dark side and the scourge that is the iPhone by introducing me to the best mobile OS ever created.
