***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Remember that Samsung video ahead of the original Galaxy Nexus announcement at UNPACKED? The theme was that sometimes putting two things together makes for a better combination. It made me think that they were going to announce a tablet as well as a smartphone. AFAIK, they never gave us the full version of that ad. Then I heard just today that Samsung has a "buy one of our tablets and get a free smartphone" deal going on at AT&T (is this true?).

Then this appears tonight:
Ice Cream Sandwich for tablet appears in leaked press image - SlashGear

Does Verizon/Samsung/Google have a sneaky little surprise up their collective sleeve?
 
I think the Samsung tweet about something happening tonight was for a Windows Phone event.

I wonder if this forum madness is similar to those that think the world is going to end.
"It's happening tonight!!" Tomorrow morning, "ok, tonight now!!"

I would NEVER let that happen to my phone. I am so careful with my phone, in my ~1.75 years of owning multiple smartphones I have gotten nary a scratch/crack/dent in any of them. And I don't use cases or screen protectors ;) I sort of have an OCD for clean, non-smudged screens so that helps lol

I said the same thing.... Till someone spilled stuff, I jumped up and my 'lung' jumped ship (my lap) and hit the paving stones. :(

Welcome to the madness, Machiz!

A pre-release order is basically where you can order the phone online or by phone BEFORE the Launch Date. They would then ship your device from a distribution center a few days before launch, timed so that you get it on or about Launch Day. You may get it late, you might luck out and get it early.

Considering that "early" in this case is a weekend, you may get the phone on Launch Day (Monday) or the day after :eek: :(

Seriously, that tablet on Android.com is REALLY not that big of a deal. I don't get why we're getting so hung-up on the tablet form of ICS when we've already seen it in the SDK emulators before...

He also said that perhaps Verizon may say something about pre-release after midnight, and to check back tomorrow.

I'm hoping that this will work like the Padfone.... I don't care for a keyboard dock but to have the ability to make a tablet out of it would be awesome....
 
I figured since everyone else was coming out of the woods that I would step out as well. Been lurking on this thread for a while now. I'm extremely excited for this phone and hope Monday is the date because my OG Droid (actually my wife's my original's screen died) is on its very leg.

Oh yeah thanks for all the info everyone has been sharing on this thread, it has me more excited about a phone than I have ever been before.

Yep, I'm stuck with my sister's REALLY old OG Droid... it's actually not as bad as I thought and has better battery life than my Thunderbolt did. But I would like my GNex now please :P

I just got off phone with vzw, I was adding an additional line to my plan to purchase gnex when ready... He asked if I needed assistance with anything else... I said do you know when gnex is being released... His response "hmm who makes that device" lol
