LOL, you do realize what th thread title is, right? I hope you were being sarcastic.

Maybe I'm dumb, but why is it so important for some of you to pre-order ASAP? The chances of the phone selling out are slim to none, and being the 1st to pre-order doesn't mean you'll get it before everyone else. Is it a "peace of mind" thing?

Yes. And a love of instant gratification

Sorry if this has been posted, but here are some calming words. This review did a PHENOMENAL job of addressing AndroidForums concerns!

On the screen:

"The Display

Stop worrying about PenTile.

The Galaxy Nexus has one of the most stunning screens we’ve ever seen. The pixels are so small as to be microscopic, and unless you utilize one you’re not going to see a PenTile grid. What you will see is sharp text, incredible viewing angles, perfect blacks and outstanding clarity. If this is the future of mobile displays we can only say, “It’s about time.”

Let’s start with colours. Reds, greens and blues are accurate; this isn’t your mother’s oversaturated Super AMOLED display. Either Google has done something with the colour temperature or Samsung has finely calibrated its parts but for the first time we can say that colour accuracy is equal to a Super LCD display. At full brightness whites are evenly toned, though they take on a slight yellow tinge at half brightness. Blacks stay true throughout owing to the AMOLED technology, and viewing angles are 180 degrees in all directions.

In sunlight the Galaxy Nexus fares pretty well, though most of the detail gets washed out. We wouldn’t recommend reading Anna Karenina on a hot June day, but it does about as well as other AMOLED displays, which unfortunately is less so than most LCDs. Maximum brightness is phenomenal, though we don’t have the correct equipment to measure it.

The most significant improvement over previous Super AMOLED displays is in the clarity of text. Reading an article or a desktop-formatted web page is not only attainable but enjoyable. With Android 4.0′s new Roboto font much of the interface is a pleasure to read, and it’s nice seeing Google taking an interest in typographic fundamentals."

On the CPU:

"Our full benchmark results will be in our Software Overview, but from hours of subjective usage there is no need to worry about occasional stuttering and slowdown. We are using the production build (ITL41D) and the operating system took everything we threw at it and then some."

On the GPU:

"Before we received the device, what troubled us was the idea of a last-generation GPU pushing 1280

AHH Bad news everyone!!!...

Ray Lewis is out this week! Verizon make my friday suck less and announce this phone!

off topic

ive been lurking this topic since oct, started posting a few weeks ago. two things i always have in my mind when im on here

1- what happened to the curved screen? i remember the renders having the curve much more noticeable. its very, very slight now
2- what exactly was the deal with CK. he posted just like all of us, made no mention of the razor (that i saw). we were all going crazy for carrier info, him included, we finally get it and then he goes "well im gonna get the razor anyway". seemed odd

All the specs came out and the RAZR fit him best. CK still roams these halls and wishes us the best as well.

The curved screen is still there. Promotional images were shot in a way that exaggerated the curve.

Steven, can I request we keep this thread open, say until we break 47k. I'm really curious to see what you all think, it'd be like reviews targeted specifically at the type of user I am. Also I'm curious to see how long it takes us to break the record. But mainly I want to hear about the phone. Anyone feel the same?

Weeeeeelll... as much as I would like to see that happen? There are other threads that I've already stickied. They're presently locked because they're not relevant, yet. They are about ordering the phone and first impressions of the phone. That'll help you. The fact that we're going to be second place is nothing to sneeze at.

In the back of my mind I figured this thread would hit 35k before release. I think perhaps 40k by Monday?

40 more post... whos going to get 35K

Well guys, I just broke the toothpicks holding my eyelids open. Congrats in advance to the 35K grand champion. It's been another great day. I'm hoping later today (like when normal people are actually awake) is the day. See you then.

oh my lord! We're almost at 800k views. I remember when the Incredible thread hit a million views. phew.

g'nite good sir

Funny how that happens. My Inc has been the best phone I've ever owned and solid as a rock, but today it was laggy and locked up. Hasn't done that in over a year.

Dude that is the exact same boat i am in. Ive never owned a phone I liked more than the incredible, but today was a struggle to not throw it against a wall. It was shear respect for the Incredible and the phone it used to be that kept me from chucking it off a bridge. Very strange.

Mine has been perfect and today I lost 3g and even 1x connectivity for a couple hours and nothing would even sync.

I kept wiping cache and dalvik and using the airplane mode toggle trick but it wouldn't work haha.

My droid x keeps dropping signal as well and has a tough time connecting to my wifi!!

It just means we're a bit more efficient with our enthusiasm this time around. It shows we're learning. And of that, I am truly proud.

Lol...O snap i got it!! page 700
That's nothin, I remember back July/ August of 2010 when the Incredible "HD" was rumored, then canned then sort of reborn but half-assed as the Thunderbolt...That was my first phone thread dissappointmenton. Then came the massive drawn-out mess with the Bionic....Compared with both those phone dissasters, the G-Nex waiting has been a breez, and, you know what they say, third times the charm...

I'm wondering if it is because I see deleted posts. huh... Do you guys have your options set to 40 posts per page too? I don't see an option to get more than that on my settings.

Good to hear people are getting good phone quality and GPS. Maybe not quite moto standards, but better than average Samsung.

Since VZW has changed their page already I doubt a pre-order page is going up tonight. Going to stick it out for 12am colorado time, check vzw again and probably crash.
