***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I can't help but think a box this big doesn't have a bunch of cases in it...especially with the do not open until date. Can't stop walking in the back room, employees starting to stare...

we shouldnt look to a pre-order from this, cause it looks like its coming out on Monday and I doubt there would be a 3 day pre-order period, that'd be silly. I DO hope however it will be released to third party sellers on the first day so I could get this thing for cheaper.

Grrrrrr...I'm in a four hour training and I feel totally disconnected from my favorite forum! This is gonna drive me nuts. I'm doubting I'll be learning much today. My head is hard wired to the Gnex thread.

OMG! Nexus training? SHARE INFO!
Wait, you do work at a Verizon store right? lol

I sure hope VZW does not release on Black Friday. The only way they will get me in there is if they are gone to sell it at $99. I do not feel like having to fight someone just for a phone.

I can see me now, imagine the Batman and Robin quotes that pop up over my head.
BAM! POW!:p

Possibly a pre-order on Monday? Anything is possible at this point (well it's always been this way) until we hear from the folks at VZ which seems unlikely till the day of. And even then they could still do it silently

Huh? I've done it three times in the last three months with no penalty. I think the trick is to return (not exchange) the phones.

That's what I think too guys. There's nothing specific about going through an entirely new purchase cycle, only the max allowed returns (1) within ONE purchase cycle.

Hmmm......

Would that be due to functionality issues as The Chief suggests?

Or due to possible encroachment into your professional area?

This is a serious question. Not poking.

Two reasons

1. data integrity

2. security and privacy concerns

In the normal "tech." field, if you have a "oops I didn't think about that" you fix it and move on. In Med tech. It's "oops my screw up could have hurt/killed/etc someone"

So I'm off to school everyone. I guess I'll check Engadget/Android Central during the passing periods between classes but we'll just have to wait and see what the results of the "7 am meetings" were ;)

It is across a line in our backroom we are not supposed to cross. This is almost worst then when Halo 3 came in 3 days early and I could actually see the disks wrapped in seran wrap!!

Couple of things

1) Talk to your manager. Ask him --- Are you a leader or just a run of the mill manager. Tell him that it is absolutely certain that at least one, and most likely several others will open this box to ensure the safety of all customers and personnel in the store. Never know. Does he want to be the one who leads this pack, or just another Johnny Come Lately manager who follows like a duckling. Tell him you just need to know whom you are working for to further and support his career.

2) The security in Best Buy is amazing. A store with auto security parts. electronics galore for all different types of applications, you name it they got it if it is technology related. To protect stuff that is really important they put in behind the LINE. Not sure what this line is made of or what it triggers, but I would step back a little when you see one. Sounds impressive.

Levity for such a tense morning.

Took the wife and kids to dinner last night. The Verizon store was close to the restaurant, so I ran in after dinner and asked for our usual sales guy. He was busy, so after a couple minutes a younger sales guy asked if anybody else could help me.
I asked if they had a signup sheet for the nexus.

"Uh, I'm not sure." He went to the front where the manager and a couple others were standing to ask. I saw the greeter lady shaking her head no, so I figured I would be out of luck. Then the manager says to me "you're talking about the nexus?"

I told him yes, I just wanted to know if there was a contact list for when it came in.

He says, "We don't have one, but you can be the first." I told him I would take that. He made sure to let me know that they didn't know when it would be, but that was ok with me. They took my number, printed off a sheet for my sales guy and said they would let me know.

So, I guess there's not a huge demand around here yet. I figured some kind of list would already exist.

But, pleasant enough experience. Nobody tried to talk me into anything else!:)

Hello all

Been a lurker on here for 2 weeks or so (having a few hundred people scouring the web is better than one alone! :P) STOKED for this phone. Been using the Rent-a-Rezound for 3 days now (I can't lie, the screen is AWESOME.) The iBeats headphones are not bad, but just a gimmick. I can't believe they are marketing this phone around music instead of the beautiful display...

Anyways, happy hunting

Ok Vanity post

Really need VZW to release the GN. My OG Droids power button does not work. Only way to wake the phone is sliding the keyboard. Argh it's like the phone knows I am planning on getting a new phone.

Must keep phone charged can not let it power off ....................

<------------ Starts the conversion of Star Wars III for Nexus

That opening sequence will be a great way to test the screen! :D :D :D

Am I optimistic, or what?

EDIT: Welcome to the forums, MrBig!

The devil is in the details...

I keep hearing the 5mp camera criticized, The Nexus Tech Spec Page confirms a spec of "5MP continuous auto focus" which along with everything else, contributes to speed without lag.

I am liking their thinking on the camera more and more.

Heya MrBig welcome here thanks for the info ;)

First impressions, very light, love the big screen, feels nice in the hand and the UI is smooth. Nothing you already didn't know. This is a big phone, but I have massive hands.

Coming from an iPhone 4, the screen clarify and definition is easily as good, this was my main concern.

Willing to answer any questions, although with the millions of reviews now out there I doubt there are many questions left. Bear in mind I'm a newbie to Android.

And now that I have the phone, do I have to leave this thread?

Also...

I think, for the Return Policy, you get 14 days do deactivate service with Verizon (without ETF)

I talked to a CSR online and she said you have until January 9 to exchange devices, just cannot cancel service.

Source: Return Policy - Verizon Wireless

Anyone else feel the same? I know it made me sweat, having a rental in my pocket right now...

+a-freakin'-billion.
