Root Evo 4g Camera Failure

Now I have run into one more problem, my camera doesn't load and just shows a black screen whenever I try to open it, I have flashed to CM7, stock and MIUI, roms in attempt to fix/test if the camera would work, which sadly none worked, would anyone know how to fix this?

So continuing from my previous post, I am now unable to use my camera on my evo, which I rooted via revolutionary, and flashed MIUI to my Evo4g, I am completely oblivious as to why it's not working, I've attempted flashing to SBC tiamat kernel in hopes that, maybe it was the kernel, if anyone has any suggestions, or knows what to do to fix my problem, it would be much appreciated, thank you.

Try wiping cashe and dalvic cashe in recovery. That will sometimes fix issues like that.

what are you wiping when flashing these roms? what recovery do you have?
what kernel did you flash, if any?
also try mikem0269 suggestion as well.

I have wiped the cache and the dalvik cache several times and have factory reset and wiped completely clean flashes to the stock rom, cm7 and miui all which are having problems with the camera, could it possibly be that I only have the pc36img file only contanimg the amon RA recovery?

I am not sure I understand the last sentence of your post. Could you please elaborate?

If you are correctly wiping before each ROM and new ROMs dont fix it, it is most likely a hardware issue the with the camera itself.

Can you confirm that you are wiping everything except SD card multiple times and then flashing superwipe before flashing your ROMS?

Also, Don't flash a custom kernel right away, stick with the stock one and test to see if that fixes your camera issues.

loaded bootloader updated recovery, wiped, nandroid restore loaded rom and camera works, go figure.

I have a similar camera issue. Installed Gtalk video 1.3 apk on my stock rooted EVO (android 2.3.3 build 4.24.651.1) it caused the camera app to close when switching to front facing cam (no fc just goes back to home screen). I've cleared camera app data/cache, dalvik cache, restored stock gtalk with TB. Hard reset (still rooted), unrooted by flashing stock RUU 4.53.651.1 then ran RUU 4.54.651.1 .exe. Same issue.

I rerooted, with Revolutionary, switched to Amon RA, superwiped and flashed sacs kingdom v9 just to try another ROM. Still same issue. Thinking about reflashing a sense kernel next. Any thoughts?

VectorVise, did you load a different version of bootloader?

Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If you are having the same issue with the gtalk, why then restore the same gtalk apk? Maybe there's something wrong with it:confused:

Anyways, I would try a rom that's still being developed. Since you flashed Sac's v9, do you like Sense 3.0? If so, I would recommend trying aamikam's Mik3D. It's Sense 3.0 and very stable and I believe the GTalk app with FFC video works;)

andygu3, I am liking sense 3.0 a lot so far. I didn't restore the same gtalk video apk. I just restored the stock gtalk (no video) app that came with gingerbread. I may try another ROM if this kernel thing doesn't work for me. Thanks for the tip. Gtalk and Skype both work on Sac's but just no FFC. However, other users have reported having no issue with FFC on my current ROM. I'm curious if I killed the camera hardware somehow.

Yeah Keefdawg as far as bootloaders go I wouldn't quite know what your talking about I am using amon-ra
However now my Camera is refusing the work again, randomly I have no idea what happened and my nandroid backup is failing to load so I think I'm forever doomed with no Camera.

what happens with your nandroid backup? are you getting an error?

"Oops... something went wrong!
Please check the recovery log!"
:\
However any new recovery I make works fine however, its a backup with no working camera, as far as the camera not working I'm completely clueless.

did you rename that nandroid backup? try it again and when you get the error stay in recovery and go to advanced and select move recovery log to the sd card. the go into your card either on your computer or thru a file manager. it should say what went wrong. you can posy it here if you like.

it seems that the md5 checksum does not verify or that it has become corrupted. it happens from time to time.

if you know where the camera apk is located you might be able to try this trick out:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/319602-read-copy-contents-nandroid-backups.html

I'm headed out, but I'll be back tonight, I did a MIUI restore and then the camera stopped working...but yeah I'll try that tonight.

I'm somewhat confused as well because for a minute...I had the camera working I ran superwipe, attempted to run the "corrupted" backup rebooted, loaded into bootloader went into recovery flashed miui rom moved the recovery log to sd card, then the camera worked...

Where can I get unandroid-signed.zip?
it is found towards the end of the post. but here it is:
unandroid-signed.zip

yeah not sure exactly what is going on with your phone. that is odd indeed. i would make a nandroid of your current state of your phone now, while it is working.
